I'll be honest. If I didn't have as large an ARC list as I do to get through, I would probably push myself to finish this book. As is, though, I'm very put off by a few things. One is the writing style. It's very telly/info dumpy. There will be large paragraphs just telling about character backstories. And this was presented as something that could be a standalone, but I feel very lost in the world, so I don't recommend picking it up without reading the other books. This is also an unproofed ARC, so I wouldn't have been shocked by a couple mistakes, but at only 17%, I've caught far too many extra words being thrown into a sentence, as if the author was shifting their mind on the sentence as they wrote (which I also have done, so I'm not super judging, but those should have been cleaned up much better before this point in the process, I'd think).
I could see people enjoying this series. It's a cozy witchy set of stories, and also woot woot for Black voices and large girl rep. So there's definitely elements of this I could see people loving. So if this series sounds like your thing, please don't let my words dissuade you. I can't say how much starting from book 1 will help, but I encourage trying if you're looking for a cozy fall romance series!
This was fine. I admit that I didn't read the ebook but instead listened. I highly enjoyed the female narrator but the male narrator a bit less. I really liked the fall vibes of this book to get me in the fall/Halloween spirit. A nice little ditty that entertained. Would consider reading again with my eyes.
Thank you to Forever for the ARC of this book. Unfortunately, this one just was not for me. I tried over an over to again to read this book and I just could never connect with the story. I just never really wanted to read it. There are some cute elements for sure and a little bit of magic is always fun but it was 3 stars for me overall.
Really cute and cozy fall read and a good conclusion to the series. And the spice served. I really truly did enjoy<3
This was overall a fun book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline but often felt the style of writing was lacking enough feeling. I would recommend as a light cozy read
Such a cute and cozy novel! It was the perfect start to my October! It was atmospheric, romantic, magical, and witchy. I loved both Gus and Sirena and loved that they got a second chance to make things right.
### A charming, magical do-over romance perfect for fall
In "Deja Brew," the third enchanting installment in Celestine Martin's Elemental Love series, down-on-her-luck kitchen witch Sirena Caraway gets a second chance at love and rekindling her powers when a wish gone awry has her reliving the same disastrous October over again. With a dash of magic, a heaping spoonful of heart, and a sprinkling of spice, this delightful autumn rom-com is sure to bewitch fans of Payback's a Witch and The Ex Hex.
The story transports readers back to the quirky town of Freya Grove, New Jersey, a haven for witches, magicians and magical creatures galore. After fumbling a career-saving job opportunity and embarrassing herself at a Halloween soiree, Sirena impulsively gulps a cup of "wishing tea" and yearns for a fresh start. To her shock, she awakens to find the clock has turned back and she has a month to set things right, both with her culinary conjuring skills and her love life.
Early on in her supernatural do-over, Sirena crosses paths with Gus Dearworth, the hunky but heartbroken steward of the Freya Grove Historical Society who has stepped back from his famous family's reality TV empire to nurse his wounds post-divorce. The two kindle a flirtatious friendship as they strike a deal - Sirena will help Gus decipher a mysterious cookbook if he assists her in regaining her magical mojo. Cue a month of bewitching encounters, from tasting menu triumphs to harvest maze meanderings, as their undeniable chemistry bubbles over.
Martin concocts a couple to root for in Sirena and Gus. Sirena's confidence in her curves is refreshing, as is Gus's unabashed adoration for them. The author sprinkles in luscious descriptions of Sirena's kitchen creations that will set stomachs rumbling, while scenes depicting the Caraway sisters' steadfast support of one another add a comforting warmth to the tale.
Though the book easily stands alone, established fans will delight in this return to Freya Grove and cameos from beloved characters. From the quaint small town setting to the upbeat magical tone to the heartfelt (and often hot) central romance, Deja Brew is a toothsome treat tailor-made for crisp fall days.
While the book keeps things relatively sweet, do be warned there are several sumptuous, spicy scenes best savored after the little ones are in bed. But for readers in the mood for a magical, uplifting romance with a generous glug of pumpkin spice, Deja Brew is sure to enchant and satisfy.

I thought that this would be a cute read for the fall. It did take me longer than I had wanted to read it, I think because I mostly did it on audiobook and haven’t had too much time for listening.
It was a sweet read about a kitchen witch who made a wish and a famous magician who’s trying to get over his ex. There were some spicy moments for sure. I just couldn’t connect with these characters for whatever reason.
I did like that the audiobook had both characters voiced by different narrators. I’d still recommend this to other readers.
Thank you to Netgalley, Hachette Audio and Forever Publishing for the copies to read and review.
I love this series by Celestine Martin. It's cozy and sweet, but with a little bit of spice. If you're looking for a diverse small town romance, then this series is definitely for you!
Deja Brew was such a welcome addition to this series. I never knew I needed a Groundhogs Day style romance until now. After having a very crummy October, Sirena drinks some wish tea and is given a second chance to fix the past. She's transported back to October 1st, and armed with the knowledge of everything she had previously, she sets out to get her life back on track. Sirena is a kitchen witch who has been having some problems with her powers. She decides to shake things up and makes a connect with a magician named Gus, who has stepped away from the spotlight and is working as the curator at the historical society. Together they make their way through October while trying to set their destinies on a new path.
I absolutely loved this book. It's the perfect cozy fall romance! And as someone who is a sucker for small town romances, it's so refreshing to have one be diverse. I hope that Celestine ends up writing a ton of books in this series because I never want to leave Freya Grove.
Thank you NetGalley and Forever for the review copy!
This little universe is the best!! I love how Celestine has created a world of Black characters who are full of magic. In this book, it felt so “normal”. The fantasy wasn’t so far fetched that I didn’t feel like I was a part of it. I also adored having all the female, main characters come together in this book.
I absolutely adored Sirena and her story! I always find the "Groundhog Day" concept to be so interesting and for this book to have a full month revisit, I couldn't wait to see how it played out. I enjoyed seeing the sisters show up for each other and watching their side stories continue on the pages, however with that said, this story can be a standalone story as Sirena and Gus have their own unique story. Thank you to Forever Pub for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
Sirena Caraway makes a wish to fix her life - and then wakes up in an unexpected Groundhog Day-esque repeat of October. Something new with her October redo? Working with Gus Dearworth, magician and new to town historian.
I found Sirena and Gus’ story swoonworthy and engaging. They both needed to find something within themselves during the October redo, and it was so enjoyable to read. The audiobook was also great, thanks to superb narration by Marissa Hampton & Christopher Hampton. I highly recommend this sweet and spicy romcom! I Received an advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.
This was...fine. That's about all I can say.
I went into this expecting to love it. The cover is cute, I love fall vibes, and it just looks cozy!
I love the magic in this book! We love a little witchy business and a slow burn. I can see how people could love it, but it was just all right for me. It won't be living rent-free in my mind.
I just don't think these types of books are for me. I didn't feel any particular connection to the characters and the world just feels so unclear and underdeveloped. There's also too many details and explanations on things that just don't need to be explained in such depth.
I received this book for free from netgalley for an honest review. Thank you for the opportunity.
Pumpkin spice and everything nice this book had it all including a diverse cast of characters I highly recommend it.
I absolutely love this series. I cannot get enough of this group of witches.
Sirena and Gus were so relatable. They were constantly living up to expectations put on them by other people, rather than living for themselves and the expectations they set for themselves that were obtainable. Their slow friendship and quest to find themselves amongst their friends and family who knew their own path was refreshing.
I think the Freya Grove witches are such a fun group to read about and dropped right back into the setting so quickly and couldn't get over just how fun and inclusive the community is. I'm still in awe of this installation.
Book: Deja Brew
Author: Celestine Martin
Rating: 4/5 stars
From the title to the actual story, Deja Brew is such a fun and magical fall book.
Deja Brew follows the main character, ex-celebrity chef and witch Sirena Caraway, as she makes a wish at the end of October for a second chance to fix her life after so many things have gone wrong in it lately. After she makes the wish, she wakes up the next morning and quickly comes to the realization that she is repeating the entire month of October over again! She then meets the MMC, Gus Dearworth, whose magic has left her spellbound. He secretly has feelings for Sirena, and he may be the only person that can also fix her powers. This leads to living the month over again, but with a chance at romance, more second chances than first imagined, and new fall adventures that the two of them get to enjoy together.
October is my favourite month of the year - so I thoroughly enjoyed getting to read about all of the fall adventures that Sirena and Gus took part in. It was also enjoyable to read about how their working together to help each other slowly blossomed into both of them realizing how deep their feelings fora each other were. Additionally, the world-building and magic realism were engaging and also an enjoyable element to the story.
Deja Brew is the third book in a series, and I do plan on going back and reading the other two books in the future.
I would recommend Deja Brew to anyone looking for something to read to finish this fall season with a cozy and spellbinding read.
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of Deja Brew.
I feel like the best way to ring in fall is to read the latest book from Martin’s Elemental Love series. This time she offers us Groundhog’s Day but make it Halloween.
Sirena’s witchy powers have gone all wonky and it’s thrown her off. She’s unemployed, lost her mojo for cooking, feeling glum. After making a wish, she wakes up the next morning to find that she’s reliving the entire month of October again. And this time she gets to flirt with magician, Gus who’s going through his own thing. Magic is in the air, as is a budding romance as these two spend more time together, and discover they can help each other through their crises.
This was such a cozy, comforting read. I love that this town of Freya Grove openly embraces its magical residents. There’s so much cuteness here. Sirena and Gus are adorable. I also liked the underlying theme of personal fulfillment. Family and community are also important elements in these stories.
Highlights:
* Magical small town & romance
* Second chances
* Family, community
* Family legacy

Sirena, a former celebrity chef is struggling with her cooking powers when she runs into former reality star, Gus. Gus agrees to help Sirena fix her powers if she helps him with a magical cookbook. In the process they both develop feelings and have to decide what comes next for them.
The third installment of the Freya Grove series has all the cute, magical vibes I’ve come to love from the rest of the series. This is the sweetest witchy romance with top tier banter. The reality TV star twist made this a fun one. I loved the way Marissa Hampton and Christopher Hampton narrated the audiobook. They made the characters really come to life!
Thanks to Forever Publishing, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for the advance copies.
Sweet and spicy. Perfect book for fall season.Sirena Caraway is a kitchen witch who was a celebrity chef until the magic seemed to leave her cooking. And Gus Dearworth, a famous magician who left the family act and retreated to study history. Together they stumble through Sirena's wish to relive October, make better decisions and rectify her mistakes. Whimsical and cute.
