An interesting and captivating read that keeps the reader engaged. I find the plot to be original and, in some ways, well executed, though I have some doubts about a few points that seem unclear or lacking attention. However, I believe it was overall handled well, and I think it’s a good book that can provide enjoyable company.
Caring Well by Jeanne Porter King is dynamic! I plan to give these out for gifts because this devotional was impactful, valueble and necessary. Thanks for pouring into this, we needed it.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I enjoyed this devotional on such a personal level. This was a refreshing reset for the mind when dealing with taking care of others. This very real and insightful devotional gives a very real safe space for black women who pour out and are looking to be pored back into. This book does just that.
Description
Caregiving is a core value in the African American culture, with faithful women of God often filling this role. Yet no one is fully prepared for the hard realities of caregiving. Writing with empathy and biblical insight gained from her experience as a caregiver, Jeanne Porter King invites you to rely on Scripture and prayer. These 90 devotions encourage you to tend to your own well-being so you can continue to shower care and compassion on others.
My Take:
I make it a point to read a prompt each day, and I find this book so uplifting that I encourage African American caregivers of the Christian faith to read it as well. It serves as a moment for me to pause, rejuvenate, and refill my own cup before attending to my family's needs. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
