I love these! Amazing cowboy, good story, and very subtle heat. Just right for anytime reading! Gotta add it to the collection.
The latest Blackwell family saga continues with The Cowgirl Finds Home by Carol Ross, one of my consistent faves in clean & wholesome romance. Her books always brim with family, warmth, and layered characters with whom I quickly fall in love. And this new release is no exception. In fact, I’ve been eager for a new book from this author, and Garrett & Violet’s story definitely hit the spot.
Speaking of these two protagonists, watching their enemy vibes turn friendly and then flirty and then something even deeper was entertaining as well as multidimensional. There’s more to each of them than they at first assume about each other, and the forced proximity helps them – and readers – discover their innermost selves and backstories one layer at a time. I especially appreciated that their personalities as we are introduced to them – Violet’s always serious, let’s-get-to-the-task-at-hand focus and Garrett’s complete opposite never-serious, let’s-organize-a-cornhole-tournament-during-business-hours distractibility – are not how all we see in them by the time all is said and done. Another benefit of being machinated into temporarily sharing a house comes in the form of witty scenes and sparks a’plenty – both of which put a big grin on my face. Violet’s mom continues to be a bit of an oblivious pill (a bit of an understatement lol) but she does seem a bit less self-focused than in A Cowgirl Never Forgets and she definitely grew on me more in this book. I look forward to watching her character develop further over this series.
Bottom Line: A Cowgirl Finds Home by Carol Ross is sweet and humorous with plenty of snark and sparks to fill my reader heart. Garrett and Violet are both wonderful characters whose enemies-to-friends-to-love story is written believably and with engaging layers. I loved how the author played them off each other, and I thought their romance showcased their swoony chemistry well. The underlying theme of there being more to any story than may be easily seen is a gentle reminder to invest in people and be slow to make assumptions – but it’s tucked away naturally in the plot without being pedantic or preachy. And any discussion about A Cowgirl Finds Home would be incomplete if I didn’t mention the endearing bull (two words I never thought I’d use together), Ferdinand. Ross gave him such great personality and, even though he doesn’t have a lot of scenes, he stole the ones he was in. Eager for Iris’ story to release in a couple of weeks!

A Cowgirl Finds Home by Carol Ross, book two in the Blackwell Belles series, a multi-author venture, with more books in the months ahead, is a sweet, opposite attracts, and heartwarming romance with a reminder of the importance of family. The second story of the Blackwell Belles and although this starts off, where the first left off, it can totally be read as a standalone.
Violet Blackwell was part of the Blackwell Belles, performing with her sisters until an accident occurred; breaking up the group and estranging the sisters. Settling in Texas, Violet works as the executive assistant to the owner of McCoy Oilfield Services. She is a workaholic: very rigid, detail oriented and focused on proving her worth. Garrett McCoy, nephew of the owner, is a free spirit who would rather own a ranch than work in the oil field, but he helps his uncle out from time to time getting new areas started. He and Violet have always butted heads and had misconceptions about each other, but there has been an underlying attraction that they both fought. With Violet's mother dating her boss and Garrett moving onto the farm where Violet lives to help her take care of the livestock, they can't avoid the spark of attraction; as they learn more about each other and their below the surface family dynamics and issues. When ulterior motives and outside influences threaten their budding relationship they must decide if love is worth fighting for. This is a sweet, charming story of learning that appearances are not always what they seem and family will always be there to love and support you. I truly enjoy the Blackwell series and each branch of this amazingly complicated family brings more intrigue, family and love. I’m so excited to read the rest of this delightful and heartwarming series

Oh, how I loved this book!!! I've not read much by Carol Ross, only her contributions to the other Blackwell series, but I can honestly say this one is my favorite of the 4. I loved the banter between Violet and Garrett. I'm not normally a fan of enemies to lovers (they feel rushed, and there's not a turning point as to why they quit hating each other), but this one is amazing. It felt honest. Carol's writing had me laughing and in tears. That's what I consider a good book make me feel. Great job!!!
4 1/2 STARS!
Quick to hook and sure to please! Snarky wit and good-natured ribbing brings the story to life when Carol Ross brings us Violet Blackwell's story as the second book in The Blackwell Belles series and I loved my visit as always! The characters were quick to hold my attention as the conspiring behind the scenes brought a smile to my face. Tension filled moments and attraction galore led to more love than hate pretty quickly between these two enemies. I am enjoying the set up from sibling to sibling, but I am a bit surprised that we aren't seeing any interaction between even the sister we've already gotten to know into each book that follows. It feels a bit disjointed, but I enjoyed the current plot as it played out and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all moves forward as each sister arrives on the scene.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a buttinsky family who loves hard and holds a grudge even harder as they come back together to mend fences and each find their happily ever after. If you haven't read the Blackwells in all of their prior series, I highly recommend you go back to the beginning and really get to know Big E!
.Violet and her sisters were once part of a trick riding group led by their mother and aunt. After a near-fatal accident, they went their separate ways. Violet now works as an executive assistant at McCoy Oilfield Services, determined to prove her worth with her rigid and detail-oriented nature. Garrett McCoy, the owner's free-spirited nephew, prefers ranch life over oil fields but occasionally helps his uncle with new projects. Despite their constant head-butting, there has always been an underlying attraction between them.
With Violet's mother dating her boss and Garrett moving to the farm where Violet lives to help with livestock, they can no longer ignore their spark. As ulterior motives and outside influences threaten their budding relationship, they must decide if love is worth fighting for. This sweet, charming story highlights that appearances can be deceiving and that family will always be there to love and support you.
Violet Blackwell serves as the executive assistant to Trent McCoy. She's a dedicated workaholic who resides on Trent's ranch, tending to the animals and the household. Garrett McCoy, Trent's nephew, has always had a knack for getting under Violet's skin. However, as they begin to collaborate, they discover a mutual liking, and Garrett proves to be more than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Violet's mother is in a relationship with Trent, leaving Garrett to question her intentions.
This was such a cute romance! I really loved reading this book! The main characters were so cute together!
I liked the fact that this was a safe read with no cheating or a Manho Hero, but unfortunately it missed it's mark in the romance department. Characters and writing was too immature. All that nasty bickering in the beginning ruined it for me, especially with Hero who came across too childish in how he acted towards heroine.
I did not feel any sparks between them and their relationship from enemies to friends to more did not develop in a way that was believable.
I am so sorry that I was not able to enjoy it but I appreciate the opportunity to provide an honest opinion.
A cute and sweet cowboy romance. It was fun to see Violet change her mind on Garrett. Garrett is hiding something and when it does come out, we do get some drama. But we are left with a sweet happy ending. I do enjoy a cowboy story especially when it comes to love. This story did take me a little longer to read but all in all it was a cute story.
