This is a romantic suspense. Though part of a series, it works fine as a stand alone. Fran is a forensic artist who works with local area law enforcement. Her husband may have been murdered, but she doesn't know why. Now a young man from one of his cases is found murdered in her yard and a young, Amish, autistic boy is found hiding nearby. The boy seems most comfortable with her, so she and Tanner protect him as a potential witness while trying to find ways to find out who the boy is and what he knows. The use the clues from the boy to track down answers.

The suspense came from hired killers repeatedly attacking them. Fran and Tanner worked well together. They became friends and started to care for each other as they spent time together. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this interesting novel.

Once I start reading these books, I just can't stop reading them. Sometimes the frequency of the calamities seems over the top but it keeps me reading and forsaking everything else. As a reader, I kept trying to guess who was involved and kept guessing until the end. The little Amish boy, Joey, was so sweet and loved the way that he was portrayed.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own

Great pallet cleanser of a book! Fast pace, the story immediately takes off from page 1 and draws you in. Murder mystery after a body is found in the back yard. In Protecting the Amish child you get the wonderful body guard trope, missing child who will only go with Fran, lots of twist and turns. This book reminded me (in the best way) of romance novels from the 2000's. The stories are quick, loads of tension and there is always the bad guy you didn't predict. I really enjoyed it.

A fast paced novel that I very much enjoyed.
A rollercoaster ride from the get go that will not let you put this story down.
I liked that there was just enough romance in it not to ruin it.
I was kept guessing all the way through. My kind of novel!
Lots of twists and turns that I didn't see coming to make me hold my breath in places.
Two wonderful characters that I've come to love and know was Franscessa and Tanner.
I felt sorry for the Amish baby and I kept rooting for him.
I'm giving this story 5 stars for a cool story that I couldn't put down.
I highly recommend!
My thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book

This was my very FIRST time reading a book by Dana R Lynn and it did NOT disappoint.

Francesca discovers a dead body in her yard only to then also find a young autistic Amish boy is out there alone, and SHE is being targeted! But why? Years earlier her husband was killed and while she suspected there was more to the story, she never knew why. Now someone was killed on her land, a young boy needs to find home and everywhere she goes shots are flying! Tanner, a friend of her late husband, arrives just on the scene to help keep Fran safe, as well as the young boy. But Fran and Tanner haven't seen each other since her husband's death, and its made being around each other a bit awkward. But as Fran and Tanner work to try to undercover what's going on they spend more and more time together and those walls start coming down. But Tanner is only there until this case is solved... and then he's going home. And is Francesca even interested in yet another relationship that could lead to heartbreak? Most importantly WHY is Fran being targeted and WHO is this little Amish boy that she found on her property... is it connected to her late husband's death?!

***Thank you to Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book. The review was all my own opinion.
