Alicia’s story captured my attention and held it tightly. The mysticism of shaman places them on a pedestal as healers, psychics, and miracle workers. They know the secrets of the universe. When Alicia meets Napo she’s immediately sucked into his orbit and seemingly for a reason. Both of them feel that instant connection, there was something pulling their fates to one another, resulting in the telling of this tale.

In terms of a general review of a book: yes, this one was a definite hit, I recommend for an incredible twist of romance and dark clouds. But, for me, I wish it had gone deeper. The story seemed to sit on the surface, like an oily slick skimming a lake. I wanted a deep dive, into feelings and emotions, I wanted to ride upon waves and cry my eyes out with her pain. There is so much to tell, the ordeal this woman had to go through with the shaman was extensive, not just in their relationship but through the spiritual world they ventured to. I wish there was more time taken for this story to stew and simmer.

In some chapters there would be these foreboding lines like “soon I would see much worse,” or something to that effect and they just felt unnecessary. I would rather the story had unfolded through images and actions instead of told as a series of events. This was my only gripe with this book. Overall, it was a very captivating read, an amazing woman’s story I highly recommend.

A captivating and deeply resonant memoir that explores themes of self-care, spiritual awakening, and the transformative power of self-discovery. The memoir recounts her tumultuous relationship with Napo, a charismatic shaman, and her journey into the heart of shamanism.

Rodriguez’s vivid portrayal of her spiritual and emotional odyssey is both powerful and intimate. Her immersion in shamanistic practices offers readers a fascinating glimpse into a world often shrouded in mystery. Yet, it is her personal journey of self-discovery and empowerment that truly stands out.

A must-read for anyone interested in personal growth and spiritual exploration. This memoir is not just a story of love and loss but a powerful testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
