“Death is My Ride or Die" by Katarina E. Tonks is a fantastic sequel that surpassed my expectations in every way. As a fan of “Death is My BFF,” I was so excited to dive back into this complex world with its witty dialogue, multi-layered characters, and mysterious storyline. This book takes all those elements to the next level with incredible world-building, hilarious banter, non-stop action, and palpable tension between the two leads!

In this installment, I was delighted to see that the romance takes center stage as Faith discovers more about herself and the Grim Reaper. Both intriguing and heart-wrenching, the fiery connection Faith feels for Death is questioned, and she sets out to understand if what she feels between them is real. Meanwhile, Faith fights for her life against powerful forces, making crucial decisions about whom she can trust and what direction to take when faced with life-threatening choices. The romance is significantly intensified, allowing us to understand the characters on a much deeper level.

For those of us who love enemies-to-lovers, hate/love, grumpy/sunshine, and forced-proximity tropes, this book is the jackpot. Death remains a true villain, yet one we can't help but love him. Unlike many other books, where authors backtrack on the villainous ways of the lead (a pet peeve of mine), this story maintains Death’s complex, morally gray nature, yet balanced in a way where he is still a worthy love interest for the protagonist.

My favorite part of the book was the laugh-out-loud, hilarious one-liners throughout. The back-and-forth between Death and Faith is next-level, showcasing Faith’s strong-willed nature and determination to fight whatever comes her way. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. It felt like anything could happen at any moment and that was awesome. I was completely engrossed in the story and am eagerly waiting for Book 3!!

If you love villains, fierce female characters, fantasy/magic, and humor, this epic story is a must-read!

Death is My Ride or Die is a great example of a sequel done right. All the things that made Death is My BFF an enjoyable read are here, improved, and in abundance. The comedic back and forth between characters is where this series shines, and every chapter is able to fit in some laughs. The romance is where this book improved the most from Death is My BFF. There are a lot more romance scenes and the more intimate moments are fleshed out and feel a lot deeper. Many awesome new characters with their own unique powers and abilities are introduced in this book and older ones are given the time that they deserve. After reading this book, I think most people will have a new favorite character of the series. Overall Death is My Ride or Die knows what made Death is My BFF great and is a bigger and better sequel because of it.

The first book was a mixture of nostalgia and new excitement and I loved every second of it from beginning to end, so to say I had high expectations for the second book in the series is an understatement. I came out of this book feeling so many emotions. I was feeling joy, sadness, anger, betrayal, and disbelief and it only left me wanting more after that cliffhanger ending. The slow burn of the romance between Death and Faith is so magnetic and electrifying that the tension feels like it's about to snap at any second. Katarina Tonks does such a wonderful job at making sure that you get immersed in the story that she's trying to tell. I felt like I was pulled into the scene as I was reading and it was playing like a movie inside my head. The character development that both male and female protagonists go through while trying to work together as well as juggle their attraction together had me screaming every few pages. I loved seeing the beginnings of vulnerability in Death as he spends more time with Faith. He is forced to recognize that fire in her and learns to admire her stubborn streak, even though it's usually used against him. The fact that he, on some level, holds a lot of respect for her but puts a wall between them to protect not only himself but her as well had me in a puddle of fluff. In regards to Faith's journey, she is the strong-willed, compassionate female I wish to be. She's terrified of her situation but is determined to make the most of it to get to the next day. The amount of patience, open empathy, and compassion she has for the Grim Reaper is such a juxtaposition to Death, but it works so well. We see her go from this scared, clueless eighteen-year-old to this strong, independent, determined young woman who just wants to save those she holds dear. In addition, the Seven being introduced in the second installment was one of my favorite parts. Their funny banter, individual personality, and brotherhood were something I just wanted more and more of. Every character introduced had me on the edge of my seat. This book had me dropping it every so often to comprehend the plot twists, squealing at all the interactions between characters, and sometimes making me want to cry and throw the book across the room. It was such an amazing read, I can't wait for more.

Much like the first book in this series, the sequel was fast-paced and easy to get through. I felt thoroughly entertained for the entirety of the novel and I can confidently say there weren’t any dull or boring parts. I am very curious to see what will happen in the next book. (And of course I’m hoping for a happy ending for Death and Faith.)

Okay this book was cute in a very Wattpad-y kind of way.

It had the fun banter, the reaper frat boys, fantasy, romance, modern day sorta setting. Definitely cute and fun to read, probably not one I would pick up again. I don't think I'm the right readership for this book, however, I really did enjoy it as a whole. It was funny, cute, and just a fun read all in all. It's simply corny and cliche, and I loved it for that.

Definitely one of those books you pick up when you need a good lift in the spirits and just to laugh at the banter and cliches!

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC!

I need to start this by stating this review is for the version of this book that will be available September 2024 and not for any older version that might have been available on Wattpad.
Well you have to admit that Faiths life has been turned upside down since Death came breathing hot ( or is that cold ? ) and heavy down her neck. Suddenly she has powers she neither understands or knows how to use and is struggling with those pesky reactions to his admittedly gorgeous, hunky and yep pretty scary self ! Malpas, Deaths father (boo hiss ! hehe ! ) is helping Ahriman create a very unholy army which has left Death trapped in Purgatory without his powerful scythe ! Add in that Lucifer isn’t exactly honest as he too wants Faith to read the Book of the Dead which is so not happening. So what’s a girl to do ? Well if your names Faith it’s definitely to come out swinging !
I think if you enjoy sparky heroines with runaway mouths and an odd sense of humour that you will enjoy reading about the adventures of Faith as she’s struggling to come to terms with being this amazing being of light. I don’t think she’s for everybody admittedly but I’ve enjoyed both these books. Yes she reads as young and sometimes naive but I cannot fault her gung ho , lets keep trying attitude. I can even see that Death even when alive didn’t have much fun or happiness and being constantly challenged by Faith seems to raise not just awareness and attraction but possibly the big L ? Hmm this story isn’t over and actually ends on a wee bit of a cliffhanger again but at least it kept me eagerly turning the pages which is never a bad thing .
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

As someone who has been a dear fan from the start of the Wattpad days, Book 2 has come back stronger and better than ever. We see a side of Death we never really got to see before and has made me fall in love with him even more. Of course, Faith and Death’s chemistry and humor is unmatched, but their love and loyalty for each other — and don’t even get me started on the romance scenes that Kat is graciously spoiling us with in this book — really had me giggling and kicking my feet the entire time.

Faith and Death are truly ride or dies through and through. I already knew the general story and what to expect for Book 2 as a long time reader, but gosh — reading this new version still had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. And the ending? Phew. Pulled my heart strings a bit. Cupcakes, y’all are for sure in for a ride for what might happen next in Book 3!

I am extremely thankful to be able to get this book earlier then others, and finally end my suffering and grt to read it. First, trying to be as spoiler free as possible for those who dont want to read this book I am telling that I have seen many improvements from the first published book and even more from the wattpad version. The book has more weight to it, and I see the more mature and fleshed out ways the characters act on their feelings and decisions. After this book it seems like I really do know who Faith, Death and all of the characters are, the villains are more fleshed out and, their personalities more understandable and it made it so much more enjoyable to read. (Spoilery review!) Now onto the contents of the book, the changed scenes all are more impactful to me as a reader and to the story, and definetely some are more steamy. In this book I can feel how Faith and Death are conflicted in their feelings, and how maybe in the start they were only acting towards their attraction to one another, but it progesively becomes something more serious in the long run. Some of the things that I wasn't that big a fan of are that some scenes have bewn changed drastically from the wattpad version that sometimes they felt very barebones, and in that case i would have just taken them out, because some of the new ones have been such awesome additions that i think the book would've been fine with just them. Now onto the bickering couple. I reread this book about 3 times now, and the first time i didnt realy notice because I was giggling the whole time I was reading it, but a lot of the arguments that Death and Faith have are very repetitive and happen at least 4 times in the same exact way, of course myself I don't mind this since I will gobble anything Kat puts out for us, but a bit more focus on the plot then the arguments would have been nice, since the last battle seems very rushed.

But ignoring all of that, I cannot express how much fun I had while reading this book. It felt like I was going to have a panic attack when my NetGalley request was accepted and troughout all of the book I was giggling and kicking my feet. So thank you Kat for taking us onto this journey abd blessing us with the writing, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!

Somehow I got luckily enough to receive an offer of E-arc and it honestly made my entire day when I opened the email. So thank you again for that!

I had high expectations for this book and it met every single one, plus some I didn’t even know were possible. Frat boy reapers? Taco Bell? Cutesy scenes between my favorites? Yes yes yes. Adult me is enjoying these just as much as teen me loved the originals.

I cannot wait for the next one after that ending. It’s got me in chokehold

Malphas and Ahriman are creating an army. Death is getting weaker the longer he’s without his scythe and Faith is battling, well, a lot. Is she human? What are these powers she has? Why can she read The Book of the Dead? .. and more importantly.. is she she falling in love with Death himself or does she want to kill him?

“Whatever we were, it was sick, twisted sinful. He was dark and I was light, and wouldn't be foolish enough to let my heart fade into the obscurity of the gray between us.
But now, soon to be fighting side by side, I wondered if, like the madness of our bodies pressed together, we would be a force to be reckoned with.”

Ugh. I feel for Faith. Uprooted from her normal human life, she’s forced to live with reapers and Death incarnate. So many lies and secrets from Death, Faith is frustrated being linked to him. He’s hot and cold. But one things for sure, she wants to help. She wants to hone in on her power and help Death get his scythe back and kill his traitorous father.

This is a heavy paranormal, action packed, angsty, banter filled, romance.

I have followed this author for years on Wattpad, watching her creativity advance over the years with her re-writes on this series. To see her now get a book deal and have this series published, I am filled with joy for her. This series hold a special place in my heart because it got me back into reading as an adult , and having many sleepless nights with newborns.

"I will remind you," Death said in an alluring, velvety voice, "that allowing you to view my wings is equivalent to showing you my ... well, my dick."

The humor is top notch. I laughed so many times. The spice is getting there. So much tension makes for a thrilling ride.

Leaves off on one hell of a cliffhanger!

4.5 ⭐️ what a rollercoaster!! The ending of the book had me STRESSED. Death and Faith still need to figure it out. Meeting the 7 deadly scooby doo gang was great! The slowest of burns but I’m excited for what is to come next!

Back with another action packed and wickedly thrilling novel, Kat you’ve blown (or burnt 😉) my socks right off!

With Death in Purgatory, and Faith’s life literally on the line, this book brings you to the edge of your seat from page one. Our favorite 7 ft monster is going through it while trying to get back to Faith, so she doesn’t get herself killed. With no one willing to aide him, he does what he always does.. He makes it happen. The action and story painting are just two things that make this book so beyond addictive.
If book one made you squeal and kick your feet like a schoolgirl, prepare to MELT. Katarina has cranked up the heat for our favorite duo. If you love forced proximity, toe curling one-liners, obsessive tendencies, “touch her and die”, morally grey men… You’ve hit the jackpot. The slow, steamy burn of Death is My Ride or Die is all consuming. Soul sucking, if you will.

Faith continues to find herself amidst the chaos that is now her life. She doesn’t have it all figured out and secrets are being kept. How will she navigate her power, her drastically different life, AND all the monsters who would do anything to make her a quick meal, on top of the monster she’s now tied to and his mood swings? Let’s just say it isn’t going to be easy. But she’s never given up, and she definitely won’t start now.

Prepare to be thrown into an amazing world, head first, with fights, tension, chills, some tears, and maybe a few kisses. Death is My Ride or Die was one hell of a ride. It will 100% leave you craving more. I can’t wait to see where she takes us next 🖤

I loved this book so much and I already want to go back and re-read it! Death is My Ride or Die is a must-read romantasy with a 7-foot sexy af Grim Reaper, Death, and a mortal, Faith, who is the key to opening the Book of Death. She is light and he is dark. They love to hate each other but the thought of being apart is unfathomable. It's a mix of enemies to lovers and grumpy(more jerk)/sunshine with action-packed fantasy themes that I live for when I read a romantasy!

Picking up where book 1, Death is My BFF, left off with Death being trapped in the underworld while Faith is back to her life wondering where the hell Death is. They find their way back to each other and it's back to trying to survive. There are so many obstacles they face and problems they have to solve and it is eventful every step of the way.

I lived for their special flirty banter because it truly is one of a kind. Faith pretty much tells Death what she wants and he pushes her away in his signature sarcastic, jerk style. But of course, I can't help but love his personality (oh why do I love a bad boy so much?).

I read an e-ARC copy and have annotated so many moments (might as well have been the entire book) that I wish I could share with others already, but I will hold off until everyone gets to read this beauty. This deserves all the angelic and devilish stars because this book shined so bright, made me laugh so hard, made me blush at the steamy scenes, and left me breathless after keeping my mouth open at all the unexpected twists and turns!

This book was an amazing read, that took you places you didn't know you were going to go. I was fully absorbed in this book right off the bat and flew through it in one day. The author did an amazing job with the plot and making the characters unique but relatable. I will be recommending this book to all of my patrons, family, and friends. Great read!

Being someone who had read it on Wattpad and also read the first published book. This is a one of a kind series, where you have the 'bad' guy, who also is a cat sometimes and a mortal girl. Like the first one in the series I died of laughing to hard, annotating the funniest parts and reading right through it. Sadly the book came to an end and I wanna continue reading. I hope it will be a series with more than six books.
For the people who haven't read it yet, it is a rollercoaster of all kinds of emotion but you will love it.

If you thought the first book was good, this one will definitely take you on a ride. Action packed and full of feels. I have never blushed and smiled so hard while reading. I was dying of laughter. And if you're a visual reader as in you can see it okay out in your head. You are going to love love love this.

I loved this when I read it on Wattpad originally and this just makes me so so happy. It’s just as good as the first time I read but much better! Great job!

To start, I would give this 10 stars if I could. Since following the storyline on Wattpad all those years ago, you can truly see how far the author has come with her writing skills and with the plot developments and let’s not forget thecharacter growth as well. If you like the first book, then you’re gonna love the second. it keeps getting better as each page and chapter go on. I cannot say that I’ve been more intrigued in a series than this. The second book continues the plot of Faith and death and their adventures. The dynamic between them is amazing along with all the other characters that you meet along the way. Also love, love, love, Devin ! definitely do not want to give any spoilers for those that have not gotten the chance to read book one or two yet but let me just say that it is 100% worth your time and energy to read the series.the Author Kat has done an amazing job with this truly!
