Unfortunately I didn’t like this book. It had a lot of good points but I feel like it was so sad when I feel like it should be more positive… you know? You don’t have to be alone is the title you would think that would be trying to encourage the reader to reach out for help or accept help from others. Plus it said ‘Lessons in Friendship’ a lot so I feel like that would be a more fitting title. But overall it was just very monotone. I don’t know if that’s because of the writing or the audio. Maybe both.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book read by the author. He did a great job telling his story. This is the first book I have read by the author, and I found it to be insightful at times. The emphasis of this book is on friendships, and the description of this was what drew me to request the book.
The author talks about friendship and love. At times, the author was insightful and really made me think about things. I liked the journaling bits and think it could be very useful to explore the prompts. The author also delves into how people are not meant to go through life alone, and his take our friendships add value to our lives. There is a lot about the people and types of friendships that come into our lives and the dependence we have on those relationships.
Thank you to Net Galley for the audio ARc to review.
