Every summer, Rose and her parents go to a lake house in Awago Beach. Rose always meets up with her friend Windy when she visits, but this summer is different. Her mom and dad are arguing, and she has a new crush.

The story wasn't the best, but it was good enough to keep me reading. I wanted more background story about Rose's parents especially her mom. I felt like we didn't really get to know them. Windy seemed to be someone that was thrown into the story but that we didn't really get to know that well either.

I will say that I loved the art! I loved how some pages had your typical 5-6 panels but then other pages were filled with one large image of something like the lake. The pages that had the water/lake in them were my favorite!

I would definitely try another graphic novel by the same artist because I loved the art so much.

The story is beautiful and highly imaginative, but it is the art that makes this book worth it. Truly art. It's stunning. I was in awe of the sparse dialogue and brief language that accompanied this gorgeous book, Loved everything about it.

Wow. There is some complex emotions in this. Definitely a huge focus on how women are perceived in society, and how girls feel as they enter adolescence and try to understand how they will fit into the world. I find this an uncomfortable read for many reasons, but I think that just points out how fantastic it was - it really manages to communicate those feelings so well that the reader can't help but feel uncomfortable. I had multiple flashbacks to my own experience of growing up whilst reading this.
The art is absolutely gorgeous. - simple, and beautiful.

A fantastic coming-of-age story by a master storyteller.
