Taken By His Sword by Florence A Bliss.
Swords of Chevalerie Book 1.
I did really enjoy this book. I did like the cover. I loved how Philippe and Alexandra were with each other. I also liked Laurent. I wasn't sure about Giroux. I did like the writing style. I couldn't put it down. I have just started to get into this genre. I'm enjoying it the more I read it. I really liked the story. I liked reading about the past. I'm really looking forward to reading more in this series. 5*.

Childhood Infatuation

I really enjoyed this love-hate story from an author new to me. The plot is well written and captivating, with great imagery, unexpected twists, romance, some steam, danger and suspense that kept me hooked. Alexandra and Philippe are both very likeable, strong characters and the chemistry between them was right from the start.
The only thing that might bother some readers is the language, as some expressions don't fit the 17th century, but surprisingly that didn't bother me at all.
I am looking forward to the next installment of the series.

Philippe du Chevalerie and Alexandra De Foix were childhood friends. Alex was his mother's ward, but then she fell in love with him and Philippe broke her heart and humiliated her. Alex ran away and became a famous guide and swordswoman.

Years later, when Philippe is commissioned to track down a group of rebels attacking northern areas of Provence, his father, the Duke, hires Alex to guide Philippe and his men through the unknown territories.

Philippe is immediately attracted to the adult Alexandra, but she is full of hatred for him and suddenly he is not only faced with danger, but also with the task of winning her back...

An enjoyable book that I am happy to recommend!

Sword fights, action, manipulations, and yes swoony romance in France, where else? And maybe a bit of female emancipation! Fun historical romance, great for a weekend getaway.

I thought that this was a really good book. There is a very seductive and tension filled balance between desire and doubt in this book that gives not only your heart but also your mind a workout as you read it. Once I got a taste of the steamy/sweetness that this couple generated I was addicted.
