An engaging read that combines mystery, romance and maybe the supernatural. The plot was intriguing with enough twists to keep the reader captivated. Well written.
Many thanks to Harbor Lane Books and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

2 1/2 star upgraded to 3 for good grammar and spelling.
I just never clicked with any of the characters in the book. But I especially didn’t like the premise that the wife left 10 years ago, lived her own life apart from the husband. Then returns to rekindle her marriage, (oh they never divorced either). There is another plot that I didn’t care about either. Sorry just not for me.
I received an ARC from NetGalley that did not affect my honest review.

Pretending to be a ghost to drive her estranged husband, Christopher, from her inherited inn, Ashley discovers secrets long buried. Can they solve the mystery of a real haunting at the lighthouse while reigniting their love for each other before it’s too late? The Ghost of Loon Lake is a humorous romantic mystery with a gorgeous setting, descriptive narration, and characters who will make you chuckle at their antics. This light-hearted second chance romance will make you smile, just like me.
Let’s start with the characters. Ashley is an emotional heroine who is trying to spook her husband off the property so she can inherit, according to her late father’s will. Her pretending to be a ghost causes all sorts of funny scenes. She’s got some faults too which I connected with. Pride, emotional angst, and love swirl her heart into a frenzy. Watching her navigate through life in hiding and then combatting with Christopher, her husband, had me whipping through the pages.
Christopher is a hero with secrets. While he loves Ashley even after all these years, he’s the caretaker of the inn and all her father’s reasoning behind pushing her away. He’s caught in the middle and has plenty of regrets. He’s a hero with heart and one several readers will fall in love with.
The descriptive narration is lush and propels the reader into the story. Each scene is beautifully detailed while also portraying emotional tension. Rachelle Paige Campbell is a prolific writer whose narration skills are second to none.
The romance is second chance romance with a bit of mystery and supernatural. This couple is estranged which makes them rivals. Both the hero and heroine are dealing with hurt, regrets and painful secrets. Once they sit down and talk everything out, it’s a fruitful airing. There is a lot to overcome with this couple and I kept rooting for them until the ending. If you’re looking for a second chance romance with mystery and comedic elements, you’ll want to read The Ghost of Loon Lake.

The Ghost of Loon Lake is the first book in Rachelle Paige Campbell’s new The Shores of Loon Lake series. Ashley Hale-Lewis left her home at the Inn on Loon Lake 10 years ago after a serious argument with her father Xavier. Ashley was so angry that her father would not entrust her with anything important at the inn yet her husband Christopher was his trusted confidant. When Christopher chose to stay at the inn rather than leave with her both relationships were severed. In the 10 years since leaving, Ashley has been adrift taking many hospitality jobs in many cities. However, upon learning of her father’s unexpected death, Ashley has returned to Loon Lake to make claim on her inheritance.
In an unconventional manner, her father left the inn to both Ashley and Christopher, whichever one stayed at the inn for 30 days straight. Not wanting to show herself immediately, Ashley ghosts the old lighthouse on the island to the side of the property until an accident sends her running straight into Christopher’s arms.
In a series of one-upmanships, the couple banter back and forth until it becomes clear how important it is to band together against a threatening outside force. This is an interesting story with unexpected twists. It was an enjoyable read and I recommend it.

The Ghost of Loon Lake is book #1 in The Shores of Loon Lake series by Rachelle Paige Campbell.
Ashley’s father left a twist in his will that has her hiding and pretending to be a ghost to chase her estranged husband away to claim her legacy. I enjoyed this mystery of what was actually going as well as seeing what would happen with Ashley and Christopher.
Thank you to the author, Harbor Lane Books, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Cute story.
Ashley Hale-Lewis left home a decade ago after issuing her husband, Christopher, an ultimatum after a fight with her father. Her husband, was learning the family business, something that Ashley wanted to learn but her father turned her into his errand girl. When she left, Christopher stayed to help save the resort, ultimately abandoning his wife.
When Ashley finds out her father died and left the resort to both of them with a clause, she goes home. She's traveled the country aimlessly for the past ten years, she never made amends with her dad though. She makes up a story about a ghost on the property because a fire started and she got spooked. But what's really going on is worse.
*Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.

Gosh...I really loved the blurb on this one. It sounded fun and cozy, with a second chance at romance for Ashley and Christopher. They did get their second chance, but getting there was a journey.
Ashley seems like she is nuts in the beginning. Let's see, she leaves for a decade to show her dad she really needed to be part of the Inn, (great adulting there) then expected her husband to come running with her...he didn't. Dad dies, has changed his will and now she's back and will be HAUNTING the lighthouse to show her husband SHE needs to be the one in charge...then the lighthouse burns down. She is a hot mess.
Christopher loves his wife dearly, but also knows Ashley's dad has run the operation almost into the ground...so he stays and does a great job, but doesn't tell Ashley. He doesn't seek her out after she leaves, and she is in the wind for a decade! Christopher is a also a mess, although less of one than Ashley, and I kept wondering WHY Ashley had to be left in the dark about the issues at the Inn.
This book gets better as it goes along so I'll give it 31/2 stars rounding up to 4. If you're looking for a book you can begin, then stash it in your beach bag until the next day, it's fine. If you're looking for a book that has a cozyish theme with some romance...this is it.

Loon Lake was Ashley’s father’s family business. She did not get along with her father and when she left, her husband, Christopher, remained behind with the business. Ten years later she returns hoping a partnership with Christopher can be formed. When she returns, she hides out in the lighthouse hoping to scare Christopher off the premise. She is not aware that he wished he had gone with her. When a fire starts in the lighthouse, Christopher is the one she runs to. Christopher is not well liked by all in the town and Ashely hopes she can act as a buffer between him and the other residents. I enjoyed this book. When various acts work to destroy the lighthouse, the mystery adds to the love story. Is it a ghost as Ashley thinks, or someone in town trying to thwart the efforts of Ashley and Christopher? I enjoyed the personalities of Ashley and Christopher and how they complimented each other.

Ashley left loon lake and the inn she ran with her father and husband, 10 years ago. she comes back to claim her share and hides in the lighthouse behind the inn. If you like cozy mysteries, you will love this story.

Overall, this was a good book with a good plot. It reads a bit like. cozy mystery for the most part. The only draw back for me was the beginning. It is a very slow start to the story, and at times seemed very drawn out. Once the plot picked up, the story flowed nicely.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I am about half way through and am struggling to stay involved in this book. The writing style is great but I am struggling to understand why they didn't fight for their marriage. They didn't choose each other. Maybe this should be a novella so 'things' happen more quickly, before the reader looses interest?
I will not be publishing a review as I do not believe in bashing writers. Should Ghost be updated, please let me know. It has potential but I am out for now. Sorry!

The main character Ashley owns an inn that she left behind as well as her husband and father. She felt that her dad did not treat her as good for this inn that she owned and she also wanted to leave her husband christopher but he didnt want it. The storyline was good remind me of a cozy mystery type book with a ghost. I liked the characters. i was a little bored in the beginning because the book was a little slow. obviously her father died and whoever stays at that hotel for 30 days will get it. Would she get back together with her husband? I recieved a ARC from netgalley for my honest opinion.
