Now I love a book with Gothic feeling and a romance. I enjoyed this one from the start to end. It was interesting, like a movie.

I’ve been enjoying this series and will continue it I’m not usually a gothic romance fan but this has me interested enough to continue it.

I had enjoyed Brutal Prince by Sophie and was delighted to be chosen for this ARC, but I was appalled by the writing and found the MMC to be gross, and his inner thoughts were genuinely very unpleasant to read. I will also not be supporting Sophie as an author, given my review of Sparrow and Vine.

This is where we part ways. It's a big old no from me. I can't get past the fact that this author is blatantly racist.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was an decent book. The premise was interesting and intriguing.

This was not one of my favourite Sophie Lark books. I didn't resonate with the characters or the town. However I know she plans on writing more in this town, and after this book set up the scene for the town, I hope the other books that come will be better.

Sophie Lark is an auto buy author for me!!! loved every second of this :,) so dark and steamy <3 highly recommend this if you’re in the mood for a dark book with such an intriguing plot

Love the book cover. Not normally a book I would go for but I wanted something different to my usual read.
For me there was too much unnecessary explicit sexual content which took away from the storyline somewhat
Also with hind sight I would have liked a spoiler alert before the content warning page as for me knowing what the book was going to contain gave a lot of the twists away far to early in the book so I had worked out the outcome quite early on .

This book was absolutely not for me. The writing did not keep my attention, nor did the story line. I was hoping to continue enjoying Sophie’s books, but this one fell really flat for me.

This was a great Halloween season read! The atmosphere was perfect and the overall story had the perfect amount of weird and unhinged for me to enjoy a story. I just wished we'd gotten a more equal number of chapters from each POV to truly get to know Dane, I thought it was a little unbalanced on that side since we get to learn a lot about Remy, but not so much about him. I hope this get fixed in book 2.

This book had an interesting premise with plenty of action and tension, but it didn’t fully pull me in. The world-building was intriguing, and the characters had potential, but something was missing to make it truly unforgettable. An enjoyable read, but not one that left a lasting impact.

Grimstone by Sophie Lark is an intense and captivating dark romance that delves into a world of complex characters, danger, and passion. Set in a gritty, mysterious atmosphere, it follows the story of a strong-willed protagonist who is drawn into a forbidden relationship filled with power dynamics, tension, and emotional depth. Lark’s writing style is engaging and evocative, pulling readers into the tumultuous journey of love and survival. The characters are layered and flawed, which adds to the gripping nature of the plot. For fans of suspenseful romance with a darker edge, Grimstone offers a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

I really don't have a lot to say about this. The characters were insufferable. The writing wasn't great and some parts were just plain weird. I'm not sure I'm going to be reading book two.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom for the ARC!

This is my first book by Sophie Lark and I must say she instantly became a favorite Author. I loved the writing style and the story so much. Loved the mix of Dark romance and mystery, it is a very fast paced read. I thought I could guess the plot but oh boy was I wrong!… Definitely recommend this book if you’re looking for some gothic thriller, it does have spicy scenes (very good ones! ) and Sensitive topics so check triggers warnings. I’ll be looking forward to reading the next one in the series soon.

happy release day!! this, decidedly, wasn’t my favorite sophie lark novel but it was still fun. dane and remi ..collided? a lot sooner than i anticipated. not exactly when they first meet, but following that it was pretty insta-lust. albeit a little surface level, the chemistry was very much chemistry-ing. overall, an entertaining read especially with the upcoming fall season.
read if you like:

thank you to NetGalley, Bloom Books, and Sophie Lark for providing this eARC!

Sofie Lark is one of my auto read authors. This was a great start but the relationship arch was too quick and not what I was expecting having read her other books.

Grimstone by Sophie Lark is a dark, gripping romance that will pull you in with its raw intensity and high-stakes tension. The story follows complex characters caught in a web of secrets, danger, and undeniable chemistry. I was seriously dying of the intensity while I was reading this. I had to read this in one night. There was literally no other option for me to put the book down. The attraction between the Remi and Dane is explosive, with plenty of steamy moments that keep the pages turning. AND THE PLOT TWISTS. They almost lead me into an early grave. If you’re into dark, twisted love stories with high drama, gripping twists, and sizzling heat, Grimstone will definitely satisfy your cravings.

I was really into this suspense and story in the first chunk! Then things got a bit too weird for me, especially the bit where he put her to sleep basically by hypnotizing her. But I’m not here to yuck someone’s yum. 😂
The mystery was interesting, the town was really fascinating. And as always I loved the in story illustrations!!

This book is a gothic romantic suspense novel. The setting of this book is a spooky secretive beach town 0f Grimstone. The story follows Remi, a young woman who inherits an old house, Blackleaf Manor, from her late uncle. As she plans to renovate the property with her younger brother, she encounters Dane, a mysterious neighbor with a dark reputation. There are a lot of triggers in this story with dark themes. I loved the chemistry between Remi and Dane. I would highly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys dark suspense novels.
Thank you NetGalley and SourceBooks for this ARC.

This book had an interesting concept but ultimately fell flat due to poor execution and underdeveloped characters. The plot felt disjointed and more like an initial draft, with a lack of atmospheric descriptions and a heavy reliance on smut, which often felt awkward and unappealing. Dane’s inconsistent personality was exhausting, and the supposed love triangle lacked depth, with Tom reduced to a mere plot device. While the illustrations throughout the book were a unique touch, they couldn’t salvage the overall disappointment. This will likely be my last read from this author. Three stars.
