Not your typical Elle Kennedy hockey one, but it wasn't the worst. I wanted to love Blake cause he actually reminds me of one of my friends but he just wasn't my favorite and that's okay. It happens. Still a cute book but not my favorite.

Thank you to Netgalley, Sourcebooks and Bloom Books, and to the authors for letting me read an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I stopped reading this book 7% into it. It’s just not for me, and that’s okay!

Thank you NetGalley, Elle Kennedy, Sarina Bowen, and the publisher for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
I REALLY wanted to love this one. Elle Kennedy tends to write SUPREME hockey romances, but honestly - Blake gave me some vibes this reader was not interested in. Unsolicited d**k pics, narcissistic stalker vibes and the entitlement he seems to carry overall gave me the ick. This took away from my general enjoyment of this one. The main characters start off with a ONS - and Blake's persistency is what causes them to continue their "relationship." It is 2024, college age women need to have the bar set higher for them. **Sigh** I will definitely be giving both of these authors more tries in the future, this one just did not do it for me.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
This book was so cute but then again I’ve loved everything Elle Kennedy has written so far. But this was my first Sarina Bowen book.
First of all I loved the characters in this book. They were absolutely so sweet! Second of all I loved the storyline/plot as it kept me interested from the very beginning and then all the way through without losing interest!
I know this is a spinoff from another series but I hadn’t read that series and I didn’t feel lost. I think this does a good job standing on its own while still having those characters come in and make appearances without making you feel like you’re missing something.
This was definitely a 4/5 for me and I would highly recommend this one and I can’t wait for the next one.

Blake is very obnoxious, but it’s all part of his charm. I like how ready Blake was to be in a relationship even though Jess wasn’t so sure. Funny, easy read.

I devoured this book over the weekend and now I need to go on a diet to recover from all the feels. I mean, Elle kennedy can do no wrong in my eyes, but this was spectacular! Even if you are not into ice hockey sports romances, you need to read this for the hilarious one-liners. "OOPF - Occasional orgasm-producing friend". "TTYTOTNDOW - Talk to you tomorrow or the next day or whenever". "Here's your double-barreled slingshot". "You just need a little recharge on my docking station". I mean, come on! These lines are gold!! The only thing I don't like about this book is that it is too short! I could have read this couple for another 300 pages!
Big thanks to Netgalley, Sourcebooks Bloombooks, Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen for this early release copy. This is my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
This book was so cute and fun and of course sexy. I can see this book being one of the most popular books on Booktok this summer. Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy make a great wriiting duo and I hope they produce many more books together in the future!! Plus the dog is so cute which always helps. I'm certainly a sucker for animals!
Many Thanks again to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review.

Okay! I wasn’t sure about Blake and his hyper golden retriever personality but he grew on me and I loved him by the end.
Blake Riley is a hockey star.
Jess Canning is starting school to become a nurse. Both are in the world of hockey with Jess’s brother being a teammate of Blake. A one night stand turns into a banter filled rom com. From annoyance to romance.
“She's always ribbing me, that sweet blond angel of mine. I know she loves our verbal foreplay as much as I do. She's just too stubborn to admit it. “
A little OW drama but Blake is 100% done with her.
Cute family dynamics.
HEA guaranteed.

“Jess Canning is...my goddamn world. We might've started off as fuck buddies, then took a trip into the friends-with-bennies zone, but she's mine now. And she's everything to me.”
I’ll definitely be continuing to read the next book!

If you like hockey, then this will be a fun read for you. There were some laugh out loud moments. Lots of chemistry. Cute read.

Immediate ick when I read that the MMC sent unsolicited dick pics to the FMC.
Since this feedback requires at least one hundred characters, here's something fun to think about: in 2024, unless the person requests for one, please don't send pics of your junk.

2.5 stars
This is the first book in Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy's WAGs series and my first book by these authors. This book had it's cute moments but ultimately the hero was immature and insufferable. I never quite warmed up to him. He sends unsolicited d*ck pics and sneaks into her bed without permission. I won't be reading the next in the series. It seems like I have a very different opinion from a lot of other readers so take my review for what you will.
Thank you to Netgalley for this eARC. All opinions expressed are my own. #netgalley #sourcebooks #bloombooks

I love it when you start a book and then realize that it is part of a series that you really love. I just realized that I've read most of everything that Sarina Bowen has written. I really, really like the Brooklyn Bruisers series so when I saw this and it said book 1 of the WAG's series,
Great start of a spin off of the series. Living in the south, we don’t hear about hockey as much and it’s great to get to be a part of the players, traditions and their families in Toronto. Blake has been from day one, quite the character. It was nice to get to see him on a deeper level.

Before reading this book, I was already a fan of Elle Kennedy but new to Sarina Bowen.
This book did not disappoint. It was well written. The characters were likeable and relatable. You're left felling all the emotions. I was a little confused in the beginning because I did not read the book that related to the secondary characters, but I recovered quickly (I plan on going back to read said book now that I've devoured this one). I'm excited for the rest of this series, and I would 100% recommend this book to my friends and bookstagram community.

Dnf at 20% in. The MMC gave me the creeps. He was so annoying. Gave me the ick immediately. He was gross and rude.

If you love a himbo, then Blake Riley is your man.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of this. Blake and Jess were friends, had a ONS, and then kept falling into another due to Blake’s persistency.
FWB —> Fake Dating —> Dating
It is a hockey romance, but not their best run of it. The dialogue was very immature, crude, and made it difficult to read through.
This line from Blake made me laugh hard though: “Once upon a time, we were briefly friends with benefits. Now we’re just friends at a benefit.”

Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for the eARC.

I usually enjoy Elle Kennedy books, but if this weren't an ARC, I likely would have DNF'd within the first few chapters.
The "hero", Blake comes off as entitled, narcissistic, and has serious consent issues. He also has the vocabulary and attention span of a drunk frat boy. He gets better, tones down by the end of the book, but it wasn’t worth reading the first half to get to.
Sadly, the heroine Jess couldn't carry the book on her own as she was mostly whiny and insecure and let him get away with the consent issues. She too improves, but again, too little too late.
And final quibble, there really aren't enough dogs (aside from Blake being likened to one multiple times - which wasn’t the positive comparison the authors intended) to warrant the title and the cover. Again, the dogs were too little, too late.
I will definitely read this author again. I just don't recommend this particular book.

This was a fun easy rom com read! I love anything Elle Kennedy writes and while this wasn’t my favorite I still had a good time! It was nice to not have a third act break up and I love anything with dogs! Will be recommending and adding to our library 100%!

Good Boy was a Just Fine contemporary romance for me. There wasn’t anything wrong with the story, it just didn’t knock my socks off or offer me, the reader, anything special.
I liked the way the relationship developed and that the characters had a little backstory. Their banter was funny, if a little cheesy. The surrounding characters were great and lent nicely to the story and the development of the relationship. I think it’s a great start to a fun, hockey romance series!
Overall, it’s a 3.5/5 for me. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it to reader unless they’re looking for a specific trope in a sports/hockey story. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review Good Boy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I thought this was a fun rom com! I appreciated that the drama didn't really involve the couple (or them having to split up) and thought the pacing was well done.

Thank you, Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books | Bloom Books for giving me the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review. Good Boy is a cute sports romance and quite spicy from the get-go. I love sports romance and this was a nice read. I also liked the character development. It was great to see how Blake's character was deeper than the seemingly irreverent playboy.
