Brenda Jackson has introduced another book in the Catalina Cove. I love how Zara and Saint were able to explore the chemistry that they shared.
I enjoyed reading the book it was refreshing and entertaining. It held my attention from the first page and all the way to the end.
The series has introduced some great characters and I love Zara and Saint. I hope there is more to come in the series.
I didn’t really connect with this particular story in the Catalina Cove series. I felt that there was a lack of chemistry between Zara and Saint. Their progression from sexual attraction to pretending to have an affair didn't seem believable to me. They didn't seem to have a meaningful connection, and there was an overwhelming amount of background information that overshadowed the development of their romance.
Additionally, the introduction of another developing romance between another couple didn't sit well with me, as I felt that we didn't get enough time to focus on Zara and Saint.
I still plan to continue with the series, but this book just didn't work for me.
*thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read and review.
This is the 7th in the Catalina Cove series. i recommend reading the series from the beginning. We are transported back to the small town of Catalina Cove one hour out of New Orleans. The author has created a atmospheric setting with the culture, ,food and characters. Our main character Zara had a steamy arrival encounter with a handsome stranger at a bar during her layover in a hurricane. Two years has gone by and she still remembers that night for what it was a one night stand. As she settles into her quiet life at Catalina Cove near her Brother and rebuilds her llife she finds the stranger again and they explore their attraction and get to know one another with all their doubts and fears. This novel is a bit to steamy and needs more depth of the main character then just sexual attraction but the basis of the story is their attraction to each other for all who enjoy steamy reads. A quick beachy read for a relaxing afternoon.
Thank you to Net Galley , the publisher and to the author for the opportnity. My review opinions are my own.
Know that this starts with steam. Saint and Zara didn't expect to see one another again but now they're up close in personal in Catalina Cove because he just took a job with her brother. This is all about how they navigate the after, how they build a relationship and what their future might hold. Jackson has a knack for writing about this small town and this latest in the series works fine as a standalone. Thanks to the publisher for the arc. A pleasant read.
The Cottage on Pelican Bay, by Brenda Jackson, is a great summer read. It is so good to revisit old friends/places in this 7th in a series novel Do yourself a favor and read the others first. Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher, for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.
It’s wonderful being to be back in Catalina Cove. This book marks our 7th visit to this picturesque community that is one hour away from New Orleans. Through this series we have met some alluring characters. Joining them is our female lead, Zara Miller, a Catalina Cove native and the sister of Vaughn Miller (ONE CHRISTMAS WISH, Book 5). The male lead is Evans “Saint” Toussaint, who is also a native of Catalina Cove. Zara and Saint have history, but I’ll get to that later.
The story begins when Zara is headed to Catalina Cove to see her big brother Vaughn and seek his comfort. She is in a bad place. I’ll allow you to discover what went down. When a hurricane forces Zara to layover in New Orleans, she
books into a hotel and meets Saint. Their encounter is flirtatious, steamy, erotic and memorable, but only meant to be one night only.. On Zara’s fourth visit to the Cove, she would be extending her stay at the cottage on Pelican Bay that her late mother bequeathed to her, and long enough for her and Saint to get “reacquainted” with the need to explore the chemistry they both felt, and the need to be together at the top of both their lists.
The Epilogue occurs on the biggest “Love” day of the year, and it’s Zara and Saint’s Day! It’s officially “One and Done” for them. So epic!
I enjoyed reading THE COTTAGE ON PELICAN BAY because of its relatable characters, heartwarming storyline, and the way it captured relationships with authenticity and charm. This series, Catalina Cove, gets better and better with each book. I recommend it for your reading pleasure.
After reading two of her earlier works from the Westmoreland series and enjoying them, when I saw Brenda Jackson has something new, I knew I wanted to read it. Unfortunately, this book didn't do it for me the way I hoped it would. The book started off with a bang, pun intended; but after that it moved kind of slow. There was a lot of details about other characters and the different towns which I felt took away from the story of Saint and Zara and it didn't flow at times because it kept switching scenes from Saint and Zara to another couple in the book that to me didn't add anything to the story.
When it came to Saint and Zara, it seemed like their situationship dragged on too long. Knowing how each of them felt, it seemed like they could have had a conversation sooner than they did to put it all out there, especially with the close bond they appeared to form where they could talk about any and everything. I understood why they didn't say anything at first based on their previous relationships and agreement but after awhile it became repetitive and a little annoying. Overall I was happy that the book came together at the end but it could have flowed better and been much shorter without the unnecessary details.
Thank you to the publisher Harlequin Trade Publishing/Canary Street Press and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I came upon this series in #2 and enjoyed it to the point of me getting #3. In this 7th installment we meet Zara and Saint. Both individuals have been thrown to the curb by their perspective other and are not looking for love. I enjoy reading about career driven female who still looking for love. I was able to catch up on past couples I read in previous books in the series. The bonus is we more than Zara and Saint storyline.

When I first started reading The Cottage on Pelican Bay, I was almost turned off because this book started completely differently from the rest of the series. Luckily, I was signed up to review it for my book challenge and because Netgalley gave me the opportunity. So, I finished the book in full.
This book started as an erotica book in a sense. While I do enjoy a few sexual scenes in a book, I'm not a HUGE fan of erotica-style books. There was a time when I couldn't get my hands on them enough, so there is no judgment from me if these are your preferred readings.
Zara and Saint start their relationship with what they think will be a one-night stand. They use nicknames and don't give out personal information. They have a very heated, passionate night together.
Lo and behold, they are both from the small town of Catalina Cove. This is when the relationship gets a bit more intriguing. Honestly, if the author had started the storyline off here and mentioned that they did have that heated night several years ago, I would have been all into this book from beginning to end. This would have followed more in line with the rest of the way the series was written.
While the beginning took me off guard, I thoroughly indulged myself in reading this book promptly once we got back to Catalina Cove with the couple. It was nice to read about their relationship unfolding and growing. Plus, we got to play catch-up with the rest of the Catalina Cove friends and read about another love story unfolding in the cove.
Brenda left this story with room to add more books to the series. If she does, I'll also be in line to read them. Overall, this series has been a lot of fun to read this summer. I'm pleased I selected it as part of my reading challenge for 2024.
Sexy and satisfying! The author tells a great story and keeps the reader engaged. Definitely recommend.
Thank you Harlequin Trade Publishing and Netgalley for this advanced copy. Thoughts are my own.
Rating - 3.25/5⭐️ (I Liked it)
I am a Brenda Jackson fan. I have loved her writing for years. I enjoyed how she writes romance. This story was ok and I liked it. There wasn’t anything surprising about it and the one night stand turned romance is nothing new. I enjoyed the development and the background, as always, of Catalina Cove. Is this my favorite in the series.no but I think it’s a nice addition.
Thank you to NetGalley and author Brenda Jackson for allowing me to read this work in exchange for a fair review.
On a stormy night in New Orleans two travelers take refuge in a hotel, having no intentions but to ride out the storm. When Zara enters the bar she encounters Saint and is so attracted to him they hook up . It ends up being a no-strings one time deal.
Two years later Zara attends an event in her small Louisiana hometown and Saint is there too. What was a one time thing becomes a two-time thing and as Zara travels from time to time back to her small town they come to an understanding, it’s a sex only thing no emotions.
Follow Zara and Saint as they navigate their time together, with family, and friends they have in common, not to mention their ex’s.
I did not know that this book was #7 in the series I enjoyed it and is totally a stand alone.
I give it 4⭐️
The Cottage on Pelican Bay is a wonderful addition to the Catalina Cove series. This book like all the others can be read as a stand alone but for those who have read others in the series it is nice to see what those characters are now doing. This book focuses on Zara and Saint who meant unexpectedly two and a half years ago and had a night to remember. In the present day we see how they reconnect and the various obstacles they and others place in their path to happiness. In a wonderful additional love story we get to see Levi and Margie rediscover love after both of them have been widowers for many years. This book is great and shows that the path to love comes in a many different ways. I highly recommend it.
Brenda Jackson brings us the story of two strangers who shared one night together on a stormy night. Unfortunately, this one night does not become just a fond memory. Life surprises them when Zara returns home to Pelican Bay and finds herself in the company of the man she met all those years ago now working for her brother. Both hurt in the past, they embark on an affair whenever she comes into town. That was the plan. But, plans are meant to be changed. Will time together help these two heal from the past so they can move forward, or does the past still a large role in their lives?
Brenda Jackson brings us back to another installment in the Catalina Cove series. We get to follow along as Zara and Saint figure things out between them. Will they be able to put their past to rest and allow their attraction to grow and flourish, or will they just get in their own way and sabotage what could be? What happens when the past shows up and threatens to destroy what they have started building together?
I have read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing | Canary Street Press for this privilege.
Brenda Jackson is a favorite author of mine. I haven’t read a book of hers that I didn’t love. This one was no exception. It was a great read!
I tried to get into this story by a popular author. I just could not. Others might. Too explicit…the story was also not realistic.
I have read a few books by Brenda Jackson, I think this one is the best one I have read so far. I really enjoyed it. It was steamy and romantic. I loved the ending because it had happy endings for two couples. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.
I read this as an ARC on NetGalley
Can two people who have sworn off love after heartbreak really find happiness? After a chance one night encounter and then meeting up later on, Saint and Zara prove that love truly does conquer all and that sometimes the pull of destiny is too much to fight against.
This started out as a steamy novel with a night of passion that neither “Angel” or Saint could have imagined when two strangers met in an airport bar and had a one night affair,
Fast forward, 2.5 years later when they see each other in the home town neither knew they were from.
Promising to keep the passion alive by just hooking up when Angel ( real name Zara) comes to town, seems to be working out…. Or is it…
