Love Signals is the second book in the Love Struck series by Melanie Summers and follows SETI astronomer Allie and movie star Hudson. Hudson has reached a point in his film career where he needs to start taking on more serious roles and his first serious project is an indie film about a famous radio astronomer and needs to shadow someone to be successful. Allie is at a critical point in her career and on the verge of a breakthrough when she is saddled with educating an actor about her career something she doesn’t have time for. What neither of them anticipated was how much of a distraction but also an opportunity their interactions would be for all kinds of learning.
I think Hudson and Allie meshed really well together and although they had a few hiccups along the way they persevered and found a groundbreaking discovery between themselves.

New-to-me author - I really loved this book and the characters! I love the STEM/astronomer background of the female character, I've always had so much fun reading contemporary romance books that contain women with highly skilled careers, and this was no different.
I loved the main characters, but for some reason I struggled with the romance itself. It felt like the jump from friends/coworkers to lovers was FAST. Like, the FMC decided she was in love with him after the first kiss, which I totally think is possible in certain romance novels, but I don't think this one necessarily had the tension needed to justify that right after the first kiss.
In addition to that, I thought the original purpose of the 3rd act break up was a little over the top, like she wasn't even willing to hear him out when she knows just how shameful it is. I get she has trauma with liars but it felt like even too much! It was more justified after she thought he stole her research, but still, they broke up before that and for much more minor of a reason.
Either way, I still loved this book! I wish it touched a little more on how women get looked over in career fields like this, and well, in all fields. They did include a sexist coworker and a few musings on how much harder women have to work, but I would have liked to see more. Still, it wasa 4/5 for me and definitely would read this author again!
Thank you NetGalley and Indigo Group for this ARC!
Dare I say I loved this book even more than The Space Between Us?! I absolutely adore Gwen and Ty but Allie and Hudson stole my heart. Which is super surprising since I didn't think I would like reading about an actor character but Melanie Summers had changed my mind.
As expected, great writing, pacing and character work. Such a cute and quick read which I devoured in a single sitting. The romance was adorable and I loved both main leads together. Their relationship did seem to take off quite quickly for my liking but as the story went on, I could really see how they came to love and trust one another. That's why the third act breakup really made my heart ache (literally). It was such a realistic but gut-wrenching situation but at the same time, I did enjoy seeing the man grovel accordingly.
I also loved the whole family dynamic - it was so fun to read about, especially the weird food analogies. Another moment that made me giggle was the main female lead's inner dialogue at the beginning of chapter 28 - it felt like I was reading one of Gypsy Rose's Instagram comments defending her man lol. The gossip blogger tidbits were a nice touch too that really adds to the whole reading experience.
Would read again, as well as anything else Melanie Summers publishes - especially if its another book in the series since I love reading about smart and ambitious women. I need to get a physical copy of this ASAP for my shelf.
Overall rating: 4.25/5

This was such a fun rom com, I read it in one sitting. If you like Ali Hazelwood and/or kickass steminists, you'll love this book.
FMC Allie is a stubborn, independent astrophysicist hell-bent on finishing her new AI model and shoving her success down the throats of her gross ex-boyfriend and sexist colleagues. MMC Hudson is a charming, self-deprecating movie star who's aging out of his typical roles and taking a leap of faith in a serious role. Cue workplace romance, where Allie is tasked with teaching Hudson the ins and outs of her astronomy lab to prep for his role as a famous astrophysicist in a major motion picture.
There are hilarious spider shenanigans, overwhelming family dinners, failed opera dates, and one steamy snowed in night. As is typical of rom coms, there is a third act break up-- I initially thought the drama that propelled this was a little forced, which is why this is a 4 star rating, but I will say that the it all came together very nicely in the end (of course, it is a HEA). There is solid representation of sexism in science, struggles with trust in relationships, and the realities of having dyslexia. Overall, this was book was such a good time and I will definitely be checking out Melanie Summers' other books. 4/5 stars.
