Love the book: Hate the protagonists

I was cringing at the beginning. "we are a golder couple."
The man teaches elementary school and homegirl dreams of being a homesteader and selling her organic things and eggs in a little storefront IN THE MIDDLE of a rural area where everyone probably already has access to eggs and organic things. Young people are so full of dreams and delusions.
I do not understand not telling your husband all of your lore, especially if it is an interesting story. But we wouldn't have these books if people were always sharing stories about their past.
Also having sex in the school is incredibly gross and violating.
Anyway, I absolutely devoured this. I was like "what are these annoying people going to do next?!"
It was amazing

Lots of twist, turns and surprises in this book. A little slow in parts I thought but I wanted to read the end. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy

I am so thankful to have gotten the eARC for free from Netgalley and Storm Publishing so I can leave my voluntary and honest review.

I’ll admit that I was a bit luke warm on part of the book where my interest started to wane. However the last 20% of the book made it all worth it. Has my interest not dipped for a chunk of the middle of the book this would have been a 5 star review.

I liked the multiple POV from different characters as well as past and present. The ending of the book comes together rather quickly as it connects everything together in jaw dropping ways.

I highly recommend this book for those that like mystery and thrillers. It’s definitely different but in the best way.

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

This was a good book with a lot of twist and turns! It goes mostly between present and past with Ammie but still very easy to follow. I couldn’t figure out who Ammie was being taunted by in her new life but loved the way it all played out! Thank you NetGalley for arc!!

This one is told in dual timelines and full of suspense.. A twisty story with lots of secrets and that ending was absolutely wild. This is a must read!

Dual timelines of living in the present and 2016 when Sunshine Lotus (aka Aimee) was living in a commune and is now blissfully married to Archie in their forever home.
When the past begins to collide with Aimee’s ordered life, she fears someone from her past is gaslighting her. A suspenseful plot with secrets and a twisted ending. Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an early copy. This review is my personal opinion.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. This one had mystery throughout the entire book. It went back and forth in time, with different points of view. Aimee is ready for a fresh start, after having a hard life before now, with lots of drama. She can't wait to start her new life with her husband in the country town they bought a house on. She can have peace with her vegetables and chickens. She doesn't tell her new husband about her past. Then strange things start happening. Will the past come for her? Amazing mystery with surprises!

Enticing and captivating. A peaceful life ripped apart by the past. So many unexpected and explosive twists that left me breathless and dying for more. I love thrillers about cults and this was delicious.

Dipping between life now and life as a member of a cult/commune the book very cleverly introduces Aimee in her stable, happy marriage on her homestead and with her little shop selling local produce and craft. Everything is perfect until she flashes back to life before Archie, when Dream was her world.
The book gradually unfolds the truth about why Aimee fears her past so much and wants to keep it from Archie.
There are a couple of blinding twists in the tale that make it a work of genius!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sally Royer-Derr for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for The Forever Home coming out July 16, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I received it from Storm Publishing. I really love psychological thrillers. I loved that it started off as a fresh start in a new home for this couple. You’re lulled into a sense of security before the crazy hits the fan. I loved all of the twists. I think it made the book really fun. I think it did normal suburbia well before unleashing the crazy. There were a couple characters I didn’t enjoy, but overall I really enjoyed this book. I would definitely check out other books by this author.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys family psychological thrillers!

Aimee and Archie have moved into their dreamhouse , an older farmhouse where they look forward to raising their children there. Things quickly start to be not so idealic when Aimee begans to notice lots of weird things happening that refer back to events from her past when she was a member of a commune. This books alternates between the past and present and is full of suspense. Enjoyable read!

This was not a fast read for me. Slow burn with a lot happening in the last 15% of book. (And when I say a lot happening I mean a lot). I did not guess the ending at all.

The story is told in two sections. One in the past life and the other in the current.

I appreciate given the opportunity to read an early copy of this book from netgalley and the author

Sally Royer-Derr has done it again with The Forever Home! From the very first page, I was hooked. The story begins with such a warm, cozy vibe – moving into a charming farmhouse with your new husband sounds like a dream come true. But oh boy, things quickly take a dark turn! 😱

The eerie happenings in the house, like the mysterious light in the attic and the unsettling music, gave me goosebumps. And when that old photograph showed up, I was on the edge of my seat! 😨 The suspense kept building, and I just couldn’t put it down. Who's behind these creepy occurrences? What does the protagonist’s past hold? The tension was unbearable, but in the best way possible. 🕵️‍♀️

Royer-Derr masterfully blends spine-chilling moments with heart-pounding suspense. Each twist and turn left me guessing and gasping. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, BAM! Another twist hit me out of nowhere. The final reveal? Absolutely mind-blowing! 🤯

This was an easy quick read, I liked it that it’s wasn’t to long, but loads was packed into the book. It’s creepy and an intense read.

Aimee and Archie are starting a new life in a lovely country farm, it’s like a dream come true, but there are secrets yet to be exposed. There was a murder recently and Aimee is scared.

The story is before and after, Aimee lived on a commune, but nobody knows in the new town, not even Archie. Chapters are told by Aimee, Archie and Aimee in the commune. Really enjoyed it. A creepy 5 star read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
