I really enjoyed my experience listing to Boss Lady. Toni is an awesome main character and I loved immersing myself in her life of raising twin daughters and trying to launch her own business after her husband Simon takes off for his journey of "self-discovery." Toni is working as in airport transportation and gets close to one of the older women she drives regularly. And her grandson just happens to be a hottie. But guess what? Toni's ex-husband has decided to come home.

It's the kind of book that doesn't get boring and definitely held my attention throughout. There were a few things about the story that drove me a little crazy. I really, really wanted Toni to speak up more to Simon (though I understand how hard it is with kids involved) and there was something that happened that felt like a major conflict of interest that bugged me.

Overall, if you want a mostly realistic feeling story that focuses on a strong woman working to launch her own business and make her dreams come true, Boss Lady is a great one!

I “absolutely” adore this book. It’s heartfelt, inspiring, AND I just love how it’s fundamentally about women supporting women. While I loved the slow-burn romance between Toni & Ash, I appreciated how their romance wasn't the focus of the book. The book was about Toni believing in herself and finding ways to go after her goals, dreams, and what she truly wants in life, with the encouragement of other strong women (best friend, mother, as well as a mentor). I especially loved the supportive relationship between Toni and Mrs. Eisenberg—that just captured my heart entirely 🤍

Read this book if you love:
✈️ binge watching Shark Tank
🤍 a hardworking, self-deprecating, and very relatable Afro-Puerto Rican heroin
✈️ an international cast of characters
🤍 slow-burn romance
✈️ women supporting women

As for the audio portion of this book: I absolutely loved it. Bahni Turpin was the PERFECT reader for this book and I think her voice was the perfect voice for Toni. I felt all of the emotion in her voice as I listened and thought it was so well done.

Thank you to Alli and Asha, Over the River PR, Amazon Publishing & Briliance Audio for the gifted copy to read and review.

Strong, diverse women lifting each other up. BOSS LADY makes you want to go after that dream you may have put aside.

Antonia “Toni” is a single mom of twins with a husband who abandoned them for a self-discovery yoga retreat. She’s working hard at airport transportation services but wants to become an Entrepreneur with her diverse lotions.

When she has the chance to pitch her business idea on a TV show (think Shark Tank), things get messy between the possible new guy in her life and her soon-to-be ex-husband, who has returned from his Nirvana-seeking quest. But she learns more about herself and what success might look like.

I loved all the women in this story. Toni was funny and smart, but she was also relatable. Her favorite client at the airport was the elderly Mrs. Eisenberg, who spoke her mind, as did Toni’s mom. In fact, I'm not sure who the real boss lady in the group was. They were fun when they all got going, but most importantly, they supported and cheered one another on.

3.5🌟

Thanks to @alliandasha @otrpr @amazonpublishing @brilliancepublishing for the physical & #audio #ARC of #BossLady.

First, the cover art is stunning! I loved the premise as soon as I read the synopsis. I’ve had personal experience with both being a single mom & being a Boss Lady, so I could relate to our MC in this #book.

Toni dreams of being more than just a pretty-faced trophy wife for some guy, which is what she would be if her mother had her way. However, being a single mother of twins is financially draining & her airport transportation job is NOT her dream. She has the potential to be someone great - - her own boss & potentially an amazing inventor. All she needs is to get her foot in the door. She gets that opportunity when Sylvia, a frequent flyer & longtime supporter of Toni, introduces Toni to her grandson, Ash, who is a gorgeous venture capitalist. Having the right connection, Toni is able to secure her shot at pitching her new business idea on Innovation Nation (think Shark Tank). Unfortunately, Toni’s competitor is none other than her ex. But, Toni is ready to leave the past in the rearview & charge full steam ahead into the future she’s left on the backburner for far too long.

This was my first #read by #AlliandAsha & I loved it! I highly recommend this one for readers who love diversity, strong women & well-written feel-good stories. I don’t say this next part lightly. I’ve actually never said it before, because the comparison I’m about to make is to an author I idolize. The writing style, eclectic cast of characters from all walks of life, the feel-good story with the perfect mixture of humor, romance and conflict was very comparable to one of my very favorite authors – the AMAZING @freyasampsonauthor! I’ve never found anything that comes remotely close to what Freya does. So, from me, this is the highest of compliments.

5 Stars – RUN & grab this book.

Boss Lady A Novel by Alli Frank & Asha Youmans is a funny, heartwarming and incredibly uplifting novel narrated by Bahni Turpin.

This is a tale of new beginnings, second chances. When your life choices make a dumpster fire look like a daisy chain, starting over is not easy when you are trying to keep a roof over your head and food in the bellys of your children. Even more difficult, is when you are a single parent

Antonia "Toni" Arroyo works in airport transport services, loved by her clients, especially the elderly traveller Sylvia Eisenberg, with whom she has developed a bond over time. Things look bleak for Toni, she cannott move her dreams and ambitions forward. That is until an incident when dropping off Sylvia causes her to run into Ash, Sylvia's grandson, and someone Toni met a long time ago in college. He's now a venture capitalist and the reunion may just take Toni's life in the direction she has been working so hard toward

A well written, well read novel that will be a story you can go back to again and again. Funny, irrevent, heartwarming and inspiring, I loved it

Thank you to Netgalley, Brilliance Publishing | Brilliance Audio, the authors Alli Frank & Asha Youmans and narrator Bahni Turpin for this ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

I know I keep saying this, but I absolutely adore Alli Frank and Asha Youmans, and so far, I have not read a single book by them I haven't loved. Boss Lady was no different and their blend of uniqueness, humor, and tear-jerking topics get me every single time, so it's no wonder this book blew me away! I love where they got their idea for Toni's job and their not-so-subtle references to a famous TV show and a certain male entrepreneur. 😏 The family and motherhood elements were on point as always and I loved Toni's character immensely, even as she debates taking her crappy ex back.

The cast of characters is very eclectic, and I couldn't help but fall head over heels in love with Mrs. Eisenberg. The banter between her and Toni was hilarious, and there were plenty of both funny and heart-wrenching moments. The audiobook is narrated by Bahni Turpin who has been the narrator for all of Frank and Youmans books to date, and once again she knocked it out of the park. Turpin is one of my favorite narrators for a very good reason, and she was a joy and pleasure to listen to. The romance between Toni and Ash took a bit to get going but the tension and chemistry were there, and I was rooting for this 'second chance' romance to win out. Boss Lady is inspiring, has lots of depth, and made my heart happy. And I dare you not to cry at the end...

A heartwarming women's fiction story about chasing your dreams in middle age and fighting for what you want featuring an ambitious single mother of twins who has put everyone else first in her life until she gets an opportunity to go after what she's always wanted as a talented inventor and entrepreneur. Good on audio narrated by Bahni Turpin (one of my fav narrators), this was my first book by these authors and likely won't be my last. Many thanks to NetGalley and Brilliance Audio for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

The book started off pretty good, but I ended up disliking the FMC, found her a bit annoying and the story seemed to also get messy

TY to netgalley for the ALC of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.

I chose this book because the cover caught my eye and I had also heard that Bahni Turpin was a great audiobook narrator, however I had not yet listened to any books by her.

This was an interesting story about a middle-aged Black woman who is a single mom and works at an airport helping the disabled/older passengers get where they need to go. It just so happens that one of her clients is related to her former professor who she had a thing for 20+ years ago. Chaos ensues of course.

Overall, I thought this was a cute story and I can see why Bahni Turpin is a well-respected audiobook narrator, but I also know that I was not the target demographic for this book as I'm only in my 20s. I do want to check out more books by Alli and Asha though in the future.
