Fabulous Story & Narration🎧Charming & Delightful!
Teagan Hunter pens another wonderfully delightful novel, a contemporary romantic comedy that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings, too. I adored the two lead characters, Olive O’Brien and Jude Rafferty, and loved the way they met was amazing, both in person and digitally. Olive is a plus sized model and social media influencer and she crushes on actor Jasper Rafferty and she followed him on social media and sent him messages, despite knowing he would not read them. Those messages became her therapy and very diary like. I admired her sass and conviction, staying true to herself. Jude, like his older brother Jasper, is an actor except not as successful as him, since he tanked his career before it really took off. He is attempting to make a comeback, getting jobs and himself out there again, with a few hiccups, but he continues to move forward. Jasper does not bother with his social media, so he has Jude handle it and that was how he started reading Olive’s DMs and felt compelled to respond. Olive was ecstatic that Jasper was responding to her messages, and they started to message each other. OK, so you can see where this is going, but nope, there is more to their story, so much more, and I loved how it all played out. There are a lot of layers to story and the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. This charming story has the perfect balance of drama, brilliant dialogue and that has you smiling ear to ear, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Teagan Hunter, thank you for another fabulous story, the laughs, and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Laurie West and Alastair Haynesbridge did a fabulous job bringing the characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting and I loved how they took their roles and made them their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters would sound. Laurie West nailed it as Olive, grasping all aspects of her personality, her sass, witty comebacks, as well as her strength and determination. Haynesbridge was just as amazing in Jade’s role, showcasing his personality completely. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture all the characters’ emotions and have you feeling each one. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.
With a Tegan Hunter book you can trust to have fun, spice and a feel good romance that will leave you smiling and I loved the DM diaries. I thought the narrators were perfect for the story, They had me laughing and swooning with their narration of the book. I thought that it moved the story at a pace that made it more interactive. This book was so much fun! It had me smiling ear to ear with the adorableness. Olive and Jude have the cutest banter. Jude was the sweetest cinnamon roll MMC ever! Olive was a fun and strong FMC. I loved the depiction of a curvy FMC being at the top of her game! She held her own ground and I loved her for it. Teagan always has a knack for banter and of course, this was done so well. I loved how close Jude was with his siblings as well as Olivia’s relationship with her roommate. This book had me smiling with its fun, flirty and cute moments. I think fans of Teagan hunter will love this book! It's such a fun book for the summer and refreshing to read.
OLIVE + JUDE were perfect in this steamy new story out of Teagan (my first of hers that wasn't hockey related, lol).
I'm endlessly grateful to both Montlake and Brilliance Publishing for access the ARC/ALC of this title via NetGalley. These are my honest thoughts!
I ate this story up! There was tension and drama and celebrity and family... it was fun, with serious topics and lots of inclusion as well. The IDEA of the DM diaries is quite funny. Olive uses her celeb crush(ish) to send these semi-anonymous messages via DMs, knowing full well this big celebrity actor will never read them. But through a series of unfortunate events in Jude's life, he ends up with control of his brother Jasper's instagram, stumbles across the messages, and replies. The two form a friendship and both develop crushes. SIMULTANEOUSLY, our two main characters are hating each other while waiting in line at their favorite coffee truck (LOL). These two were meant to interact.
Things I loved:
- Olive is a plus-sized model with a vision for her life, confidence, and the gumption we all deserve
- Jude is just.. sweet. He's down to earth in a way most celebrity actors from famous families aren't.
- THE NICKNAMES. Unique but also not :)
- The slow build up of their relationship to something more than friendship felt SO NATURAL... ESPECIALLY GIVEN THAT THESE TWO PEOPLE HAVE 500K FOLLOWERS ON INSTAGRAM (HER) or are part of a super famous Hollywood fam (him)!
- Jude's family dynamics and siblings... gotta love older siblings, pregnant sisters with chocolate shops, meddling moms, etc.
- Olive's bff and her support and her intervention when necessary; truly a wonderful example of a modern day relationship
- Olive's mission, which she holds fast to even when lucrative modeling deals come her way
- Jude playing Barbie's
- Jude's behavior towards protecting Olive at all costs when it comes to the media
- Jude's first and second and third attempts at groveling
Big fan of this one! Out July 2nd! FANTASTIC on audio if that's your thing!
I listened to the audio to the audio on this and it was so good! I love Olive and Jude so much. The perfect swoony five star couple!
The DM Diaries is a fun, engaging and entertaining read. It had a lot of whirlwind moments, full of funny banter, great characters and the right amount of sweet and spicy. Very adorable read from beginning to end.
I loved Olivia, the fact that she was plus sized, I felt seen. The representation was well done. I loved her confidence, how she stood her ground and stood for what she believed in. Jude was just the sweetest, swooniest cinnamon roll MMC, he was so into his girl ! They had the best banter, I loved when he called her Sunshine 🥹. The side characters were truly everything, always so supportive and there for them !
Such a fun read that had me smiling even though the whirlwind of the relationship. It was still super cute. The only downfall was the third act breakup that was a little too immature for my liking, but I still really enjoyed the book.
🎧 The narration by Laurie West & Alastair Haynesbridge was great. I loved his voice he had a roughness to it and it just fit Jude perfectly. They both played the characters perfectly, the tones and emotions were on point.
✨️Thank you to @netgalley, @brilliancepublishing & @teaganhunter for my gifted ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Olive and Jude! Jude isn't one for socials, but when he has a disasterous interview it's clear that he needs to learn what he is doing if he is going to nail interviews being in the Hollywood spotlight. He takes over his brother Jasper's social media and realizes that Jasper has thousands of unread messages. While scrolling, he comes across one in particular that he can't stop reading.
Olive's therapist told her to keep a diary, not to send all of her thoughts to an actor named Jasper on Instagram. She knows he will never see them so she just keeps sending. Until one day he replies.. and he's even better than she thought he would be.
Jude feels bad letting this girl think he is his brother, but he never wants to stop talking to her. She is real and that is exactly what he needs in his life. Olive and Jude meet in real life, at a coffee truck, before they know they are talking to each other on socials and I kept screaming.. it's him! it's her! but it really didn't go on for extremely long and I liked that about this book. Once they met, you could feel the chemistry and you knew it would only be up from there.
This book was cute and light and just a fun time. THe narrators did a great job bringing this to life.
Thanks to Brilliance, Teagan Hunter and Netgalley for an early audio copy.
This was such a fun audiobook to listen to. One brother responds to DM's in his celebrity brother's inbox and eventually falls in love with the girl. But what happens when the truth gets out? The narration of this story was fantastic. I loved that Olive, our female lead, was a curvy plus size model and even though she was used to the limelight, she didn't expect to be thrust into the tabloids the way she was. Highly recommend this book if you want something light that will put a smile on your face.
Thank you Brilliance publishing/Brilliance audio for the ALC!
I have been loving Teagan’s backlist books so I was thrilled to get an ALC of The DM Diaries! Teagan has such a fun writing personality and always crafts fun banter between her characters. And she’s a great spicy writer as well!
This one started off great for me, grabbing my attention with the premise. I go into books without reading synopsis to avoid spoilers so when I started this and saw where the story was going, I was really interested.
After a little while I ended up not really loving the characters. Their online personalities were great but their in person ones made me not really like them or want to root for them. I got turned off by their behaviors and attitudes.
I did really like the narrators and thought they did a great job acting the characters out though!
This one ended up missing the mark for me but I hope others love it
This is so cute and adorable tale of an influencer and movie star making a comeback 💫✨🤌
The characters were well drafted and penned down. The romance was so beautifully blend in with other micro topics 💫 I am kinda amazed as a whole this was a wonderful and wholesome book.
