Very enjoyable! I enjoyed the characters- they were real and authentically flawed. Their witty banter was laugh out loud funny. Witt, sweet, and oh-so-fun!

As a personal trainer who loves running, I LOVED this book! I also read it in November (on the day of the NYC Marathon!), so I was extra geeking out as a book lover and fitness fanatic. Luke and Lydia had great banter, which made the book fun and enticing. Loved the ending, especially the voicemail Luke left!

I had a hard time getting into this one, but in the end, I really enjoyed it. It hit that line of having interesting conflict without being rage bait, and the blooming romance between the FMC and MMC was just fun to follow. This read was a perfect level of spicy and made for an enjoyable and quick weekend read.

I enjoyed this story by Elizabeth Hirb. I was personally a fan of the third person POV. The chemistry between Luke and Lydia was so good even from the first time they met and had their first conversation.

“Meet Me in a Mile” by Elizabeth Hrib was a very entertaining quick read! If you’re looking for a short romance this is the book for you!

This is a story about Lydia, an architect who signs up to run in the NYC Maratjon to impress her firm/crush, and Luke an athletic trainer who wants to open up his own gym and ends up training Lydia.

This story was in third person, which was somewhat of a downfall. With third person all the inner turmoil is stated outright, you are told everything about the character. I think that first person or more description hinting towards how the characters were feeling would have added a lot more depth.

Overall I liked the book, I liked the characters and the plot but it felt like it was missing a lot. A lot of depth, and a lot of growth. This is a good quick read if that’s what you’re looking for!

This review is left voluntarily, and thank you to the publisher and netgalley for an ARC of this book.

This was a cute, quick, fun read. The growth of both characters was nice to see, as they support each other's goals rather than demand one focus at a time. A great little novel!

I hate when people respond to posts online with “As a ____” but as a half marathoner, this was a decently realistic running romance novel. I enjoyed it.

All you have to do is meet me in a mile

✨ Dual POV
✨ Rom-Com
✨ Architect/Gym Trainer
✨ Marathon Running
✨ Charity Competition
✨ Workplace Romance

This book was the CUTEST! I am someone who actively hates running, and yes, I have ran a marathon before. It's the worst and I just can't enjoy one second of it. HOWEVER, this book made me want to try again.

The romance, the heat, the banter, the thoughtfulness. I binge read this one in a night and I am so happy I did. If you are looking for a super cute quick read about an architect and a gym trainer (which is oddly specific, but hey, you never know!), or maybe you just want to kick your feet and giggle for a little bit, this is the book to grab.

Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read this one early <3

Elizabeth Hrib’s Meet Me in a Mile offers a delightful blend of romance, humor, and self-discovery. Lydia McKenzie, a Manhattan architect, signs up for the New York City Marathon to impress her office crush, but ends up falling for her personal trainer, Luke Townsend, instead. Their chemistry heats up as Luke helps Lydia prepare, and sparks fly both on and off the pavement. With witty banter, heartwarming moments, and a touch of steam, this rom-com is a fun and satisfying journey toward love and personal growth. A perfect pick for anyone craving a charming and feel-good read!

his was a quick and fun read! I really enjoyed the banter between Lydia and Luke—it felt natural and gave their relationship so much charm. The way they went from trainer and trainee to something more was full of humor and heart. I was especially happy when Lydia left her work crush in the dust. The guy was not worth her time, and it felt incredibly satisfying to see her move on.

What I loved most was how Lydia realized her worth at work. She didn’t let her colleagues walk all over her and stood up for herself, which made her journey even more empowering. If you’re looking for a romance with great character growth, humor, and a little bit of spice, this book is a winner!

Girl who isn't a runner plus personal trainer? Count me in. What I look for in a romance book is dialogue and good plot, and Meet Me in a Mile had all of that wrapped into a cute romcom. Hrib was spectacular with making you literally feel the flames coming off the page with the chemistry. The only thing that annoyed me was the triangle part of the plot. I think it could have been just the two main characters and it would have been just as good. It did make things a little interesting, however.

Overall, I hate running, but maybe a romance with running in it is more my speed.

ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʀʏ:
Lydia McKenzie is not the athletic type, but when she signs up for the New York City Marathon to impress her office crush and prove herself at work, she knows she’s in over her head. Enter personal trainer Luke Townsend—an experienced runner and exactly the guy Lydia needs to get marathon-ready. But as their training heats up, so does their chemistry, and soon they're spending more time together off the track than on.

Now, with her project proposal hanging by a thread and her office crush offering more than just professional support, Lydia has to figure out which path—both in work and love—she really wants to follow.

ᴍʏ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛꜱ:
My first thought when reading this is, “Is it really that easy to train to run 26 miles?” Because it felt unbelievable. 😂

I really enjoyed this romance! The banter and chemistry hit straight away - and I loved seeing them come together and pull apart as they tried to deny their growing attraction. It made the inevitable that much more enjoyable.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a sporty romaance that sizzles…& will make you feel like you need to get up off your butt.

I enjoyed Lydia and Luke’s story. They had chemistry right off the bat, but the author still does a good job of creating those mutual pining feelings. The added work crush for Lydia created some extra feelings/confusion for both mains, even if it made me feel bad for Luke, who was clearly the better option. Both characters are working through some issues around self-doubt and goals for their future and those elements really added to the plot and character development. I really liked Lydia’s sister because I enjoy when a side character knows the main well enough to call them out and tell them the truth. It was overall a well written story and the pacing was good.
3.5 stars for this happily every after.

This was a very cute romance. I don't believe there have been many sports romances about running so that was a nice element to the book. I thought the romance in the story was both sweet and sexy. I would consider reading more by Elizabeth Hrib in the future.

This was a DNF for me - I thought the writing was great and could appreciate the storyline, but I just couldn't click with the characters. For some reason, Lydia just wasn't very likable to me from the very beginning. I couldn't get past whatever personality conflict we had - ha! But I know others will love this book - it just wasn't my cup of tea. Lydia is not an athlete or a runner in any capacity, but in an effort to prove herself at work (and impress / spend more time with her work crush) she volunteers to race in a marathon. In order to be successful in the marathon, she enlists the help of Luke, a personal trainer. On top of this shared running activity, Luke and Lydia also share an interest in a local youth center (Lydia work related and Luke personal) which the two bond over during their time.

This book was a slow burn, though I enjoyed getting to see both of the characters developing in their own personal lives while also flourishing together. It made the entire plot feel more dynamic and well rounded. I hated Lydia’s work crush, though I think that is a good thing as he was not her HEA. I don’t feel like the ending with him was great though, it felt lacking.

I often struggle with third person books, though I have been pushing myself to branch out and this book was easy for me to read and still feel connected to the characters. One area that I didn’t love was that Lydia was very naïve when it came to her workplace crush because he was clearly taking advantage of her.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was nothing super ground breaking for me, but it was a cute fun read with a happy ending.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lydia is not a runner but she wants her job to be taken seriously at work, she signs up for the New York City Marathon as part of her firm's outreach program

Luke, a personal trainer and seasoned runner, is precisely who Lydia needs to prepare for the marathon. With his excellent personality.

From a complicated past to a hopeful future, Luke and Lydia are realistic and emotionally resonant. building tension and chemistry between the characters, making their eventual connection all the more satisfying. The slow burn but, the depth of their relationship makes it worth the wait. The character development is so good and I enjoyed the side characters and how they are intertwined in the story.

“You’re already in the business of making other people’s dreams come true. Why not one of your own?”

I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I love a dual point-of-view romance, and the meet cute is adorable. Lydia and Luke come into each other’s lives at what seems like the perfect time.

Lydia decides to run the New York Marathon with her architecture firm only to impress the owner and her office crush. After her run-in with Luke, a personal trainer, she enlists him to help her. They’re both so passionate and ambitious about their professions which connects them immediately. Even though her original reasons for running the marathon seem ill-advised, she proves so much to herself. She really has a complete arc.

The mutual support they develop is really great and this is the type of romance that isn’t super heavy. With Lydia, we see her realize her true potential to not only run a marathon, but to realize what she needs to do about her job. She’s smart and driven, making for a great female main character.

Luke is incredibly sweet, and seeing him interact with kids at the youth center is such a swoon. He wants to open his own gym and offers classes to underprice kids, which I loved. The relationship he has with Lydia develops in a natural way. Seeing him at the youth center and with the kids adds so much to his character. The way he and Lydia discuss their vulnerabilities and insecurities is wonderful and refreshing.

I do think some plot points were easy to figure out, but that didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of this book. It sweet and spicy, while also having some truly heartwarming moments.

I really enjoyed reading this book! Usually, third person is hit or miss for me, but I didn't mind it at all.

I could feel the chemistry between Luke and Lydia from the first time they met. They had great banter and a great connection.

I laughed out loud a few times while reading this!

I had a bad feeling about J (not going to mention names in case of spoilers) the whole time. While in the end he ended up not being too bad, I didn't like the way he was acting towards Lydia.

I am happy with the way the story resolved!

I highly recommend if you like romance books. I plan to read more by this Author when they have new releases!
