Sariah Wilson’s first dip into the fantasy world, A Tribute of FIre delivers in a multitude of ways for those who are fans of the genre with high-stakes action that will keep you on the edge of your favourite seat, and as a warning for those who struggle with them, a cliffhanger that had me cursing and in need of book two to already be within my grasp.

The world-building is mesmerising and helps to ensure the reader is swept away into the story that has Wilson weave together Greek Mythology, with its Gods and Goddesses into this refreshing page-turner and beginning to a captivating duology. I have a feeling The Eye of a Goddess series will be loved and re-read by many if book one is anything to go by because Gods, I was hooked.

This has everything we could ask for with a strong and well-written female protagonist in Lia who as a princess of a dying nation, is all too aware of what it is to survive against all the odds because her people have been disregarded by the Gods and seen their lands bare no produce, and the water offer little for sustenance nor to offer as trade. I thought initially she would be unappealing and possibly boring, as sometimes that can be the case and it can make following their journey a hard one. Not Lia, nor her small family either who are all wonderfully written and give you an understanding of what makes our leading lady tick. She’s not your average princess, and I loved that about her. She's all too aware that the curse laid upon her land could affect not just the female citizens but both Lia and her sister and she doesn’t want to go down without a fight.

There's a small but vividly brutal insight into how she tries to ensure that if her family’s greatest fears come true? She won’t be completely vulnerable and it’s so well done that it had me winching and then chuckling at how she shrugs off pain like it’s dust on her shoulder. This alongside moments with her parents, and her sister gives Lia depth and in my opinion, the reader hopes that all that she wishes for does come true.

“The code says that there is no honor in a man who rushes to war because he doesn’t care if he dies. There is valor in battle for those who desire to live. Courage can only exist in the same space that fear does.”

With lines such as this, Sariah also has us thinking and in my case, taking moments to think of who we are as humans, and even though this is fiction there are moments of truth and insight given to us by the characters we encounter. I always like, even in fantasy, when the story makes me think over who I am, or how people are and how they treat one another. Turning a magnifying glass on oneself is always good, especially from the written word and A Tribute of FIre is definitely one that does this.

I think if you like world-building that is vivid and immersive that draw on civilisations from times past and perhaps myth, along with characters that are so well written that they could step off the page or draw you into fight from all sides? Then A Tribute of Fire is definitely for you - I’ve read and re-read this book and both times left cursing that I’m left waiting on the sequel because I became lost to the writing.

Sariah's books are always breathtaking, and this book is no exception! I love how vividly she paints a picture of the landscape for the reader, and every single page you are able to walk through the world through Sariah's eyes! It was incredible to be able to read this story and then get to speak with the author about it! I hope it has all the success in the world!

I’ve become increasingly picky about the kinds of romantasy books I prefer and this felt like everything I’ve read before. It was very cliche and felt weak in its overall fantasy plot and world building

When I started this book, I was expecting a standard fantasy adventure with romantic aspects, but this book delivered a lot more. Lia’s character was incredibly strong and relatable. She’s fierce, independent, and intelligent, but Sariah still gives her room to grow. Watching her struggle with fears, doubts, and the harsh realities of her world added depth to her character. The trials she faces aren’t just about physical endurance; they push her to her emotional limits too, which at times were heartbreaking to read.

The romance aspect was another highlight. Lia meets Jason, a mysterious Ilionian sailor. They share some truly electric chemistry and a dynamic that had me on edge. Jason is complex, and although he has his secrets, he’s one of the most engaging parts of the story. The slow-burn romance and his connection to Lia added a lot of tension and excitement. I found myself rooting for them, even as their circumstances made things difficult.

Another strength of the book is the world-building. Sariah combines elements inspired by Greek mythology with her own original twists. The setting feels alive, from the desert landscapes of Locris to the complex streets of Ilion. The rich lore that gets woven in, makes the world feel both unique and immersive.

One thing I found a little challenging was the slower start. It takes a bit for the story to pick up speed as the stage is set, but once the action starts, the book becomes hard to put down. I especially loved the friendships Lia builds along the way. At the temple, she forms strong bonds with other girls who become like sisters.

By the end, A Tribute of Fire left me needing more, especially with its cliffhanger ending. If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers romance, fantasy adventures, and a heroine who has to fight against impossible odds, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a read.

I forgot to add this when the book came out!!! This was fantastic. I really loved this journey that we took with the characters. I loved how it all turned out. And can’t wait to read the next one.

Thanks to NetGalley for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I feel like this was just fine? The description of the book regarding 'trials of a death-defying ritual' got me excitedddd and it just fell flat as it was just over a few chapters in? I was expecting a large part of the book to be a game of cat and mouse and it just wasn't. Really killed the vibe.

Don't get me wrong, stuff happened afterwards but I did struggle to get through the middle of the book, it was quite boring and it just seemed quite repetitive. I was expecting more high stakes and action, but we were literally just listening to Lia's sex dreams every night???

I can tell it was just setting the scene for the next book but I wanted more! I did love the friendship/sistership vibes though, but the romance was not it for me.

I knew the ending was coming but it still got me in the feels! Brought me back in and now I want to read the next book immediately.

I really enjoyed this one! I felt like this was such a unique concept and storyline and was executed so well. I also loved Lia and how she was such a strong female main character. Can't wait for book 2!

I enjoyed this book but I wouldn’t say it was my favourite. The premise was cool, Greek mythology x the hunger games. But the book was too slow to start, the characters were brilliant but in my opinion Lia lusted too much after Jason without much substance. I did love the whole theme of sisterhood throughout the book and lia’s utter devotion to her country!! Lia is a hardcore warrior lady and that I DO love!! I would have liked more of the race itself but what we saw of it was fantastic!!

This was an absolute breath of fresh air! Twists and turns I didn’t see coming and a totally new feel to Greek mythology thrown in make this an immediate winner.

I’m already waiting for the sequel impatiently so I can hurl myself back into this world.

A fine romantasy! I liked the story and world building. Easy to follow along and jump right into the world. It’s written in first person POV, so there is a lot of reflection and repeated thoughts which got to be a bit much toward the end. Spice is mild, just very descriptive pg stuff. I could not get over the MMC named JASON. This is a fantasy with the most insane silly, hard to pronounce names (expected) and then..Jason???? I couldn’t take him seriously lol. Ending was great!! Good set up for the second book, and I’ll probably read it because I’m ~hooked~.

Omg firstly, WHAT A FUCKING CLIFFHANGER!! NANI THE FUCK!? I’m getting flashbacks to the 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘝𝘰𝘸𝘴 by Lexi Ryan (just without the seelie and unseelies). Like if you want a strong (and horny) female lead who is willing to kill to save her kingdom and get revenge for her sister? Then definitely read this! Secondly, I need the second book ASAP (Will painfully wait for the next book) because nooo there ain’t no way Jason- ughhhbsnajskakalhdus. He can’t, my heart will not allow it ! Thirdly, I’m just gonna thank NetGalley for the copy cause without that site, I would’ve never discovered this book! Unfortunately I ran out of time reading it online SO I bought the book and it’s was fricking worth it! It just took me so long to finish it ;-;

Lia has been preparing for the trial. A race in a maze like city to make it to the Goddess’ temple in search for a relic that supposedly should save her kingdom from famine and drought. However, due to her ancestor, Locrian’s are not welcomed nicely in Ilion, hence the Tribute. When her name is pulled she knows what she must do, but when her sister’s name is also drawn, her plan needed some adjustments in order for both their survivability.

With the help of a handsome, charming sailor, Jason, her path to the temple is made easier. But things do not go as planned on the race to the temple…

There was a few things that I didn’t like at first which made the progress slow on starting this, but after certain things took place the pace picked up smoothly and it started going well. For me I found it a bit slow because of the things that the author had set up but that was in preparation for the main event in the chapters after. Then there was the whole thing of meeting the sailor (before the race) and instantly Lia and that guy, Jason, started making out… it was probably the draw that will most likely be explained in book two 😭🤭

The time span stuff was long which initially I thought it would take FMC maybe a few weeks to a month to figure out/find what she was after but it ended up being a few months. It made me keep thinking what was happening to her family while she was there. It is a very long mission that won’t be done in a few weeks I guess.

There are a few quotes I wanna add but I need to find them so I might update this later with them. If I can’t find them, then 😭😭 read the book to find out and hopefully enjoy it!

A tribute of fire was action packed from the very beginning. A young girls quest of self sacrifice to save her people. The writing itself was addicting, the storyline was *chefs kiss*, the ending was totally unpredictable. I never saw it coming - I had thoughts but who all the players turned out to be shocked me. I loved this book and cannot wait to read book 2.

I absolutely loved this book! It’s packed with badass female characters, intense betrayals, a touch of spice, and plenty of action and adventure.

The story follows Lia (or Euthalia), a determined princess willing to do anything to save her cursed country. To break the curse, she must find the Goddess’s lost eyes, which means joining the priesthood—a brutal process that involves being hunted through the city and losing her sister. Even after making it into the temple, she faces rejection as a Locrian and constant threats to her life.

As a princess, Lia is promised to the crown prince, but she uses her acolyte status and vow of celibacy to avoid the marriage. Meanwhile, she falls in love with a mysterious sailor, Jason, who helped bring her to Ilion. Their connection deepens as they communicate in their dreams and meet in secret—despite the temple’s strict rules. But everything shatters when her friend and adelphia sister, Io, betrays her by revealing her presence in the temple to the prince. That’s when Lia makes a shocking discovery: her beloved Jason is actually Crown Prince Alexandros, the very man she was trying to escape. Now, she’s forced into a marriage she never wanted while still searching for the Goddess’s eyes to save her homeland.

This book had me hooked from start to finish, and I can’t wait to continue the series!

At the start of this story I felt like okay nice idea for the basis of the tale. But as the story kept progressing, it felt more and more stagnant like stuff was happening, but it was not really meaning anything. The FMC is the biggest joke in the world, and I don’t understand the concept of insta lust anyways. I really wanted to say like girl get it together, you are here on a mission. It seriously is just page after page Jason this and Jayson that. This book was just setting it up for the second book, I guess. The ending was really good, even though I expected it a bit, it was better than that. And hence I do want to read the next book.

Romantasy with dragons, sexy characters, and a smattering of Greek mythology? What more can a girl ask for? This was such a fun read from Sariah Wilson, who is a new author to me. Jason was a dream and Lia was a refreshingly relatable female main character. I was so happy that Wilson didn't portray Lia with many of the stereotypes I've grown to expect from other books in this genre.

The writing was strong and I love that it remained modern while remaining true to the Greek mythology influences. There is a huge cliffhanger at the end that has me bursting for book 2. Hopefully, we will not have to wait too long.
