I was really excited to read Terrible Beauty by Auden Schendler. The book description led me to believe that this would be a well researched book on large corporates and climate change. This is an incredibly important topic. However, the book was not what I was expecting. The first half of the book is mostly autobiographical covering the author's upbringing and family. The author is a corporate sustainability officer at Aspen Skiing Company. While I applaud the work that he does for his own organization in Colorado, I felt that his research on other larger companies was lacking. I was hoping for interviews with executives from some of the large companies mentioned in the description such as Microsoft, Apple and fossil fuel companies. However, most of the perspectives are based on media articles.

I hope that there will be more books on this important topic that go deeper.
