The Little Christmas Tree is an adorable festive read for children with an important and sweet message for all.
Alex is a Christmas tree and is bullied and teased for his small size. He is the smallest tree in his school and feels more and more discouraged day by day. When the trees graduate from school, none of the forest animals choose him as their home. When a family of rabbits comes across Alex, the smallest rabbit Selma encourages her family to choose Alex, after all, she is the smallest too. This delights Alex, and he is no longer alone or useless, and the rabbits and him celebrate Christmas together with fun and happiness.
The illustrations are a delight to look at throughout the story, and I'm sure this book will bring so much happiness and be uplifting to many children.
This is a cute illustrated children's book about a little Christmas tree.
All the Christmas trees are learning how to be the best Christmas trees...with decorations, singing etc to prepare for the holiday season and families coming to get one of them.
Kurt is the biggest but he is also a bully and makes fun of Alex because he is 'too small' to be a Christmas tree. When all the trees get picked, Alex is all alone and he starts to think that he really is just too small. Then a family comes for him, one of rabbits, and Selma is the smallest rabbit. They sing and have a Merry Christmas.
This was a cute little book about believing in yourself and you shouldn't take what bullies say to heart. There were adorable woodland creatures and the talking singing trees are so much fun. I love books about the holidays and this one was cute, whimsical, and will be a fun addition for the family.
Book Review: The Little Christmas Tree by Thomas Meyer, Marshall Yarbrough (translator), Philippe Goossens (illustrator)
Rating: 4 Stars
Hey there, fellow book lovers! I recently had the pleasure of reviewing The Little Christmas Tree by Thomas Meyer, and I just couldn't help but share my thoughts on this adorable little gem.
The story revolves around Alex, the tiniest fir tree in the nursery. Yep, you heard that right—he’s the smallest of them all! And like any underdog tale, Alex has to face a bit of teasing from the larger trees around him. He worries that no family will ever want him as their Christmas tree since he can’t hold as many ornaments or stand as tall. But just when things seem bleak, Selma, the tiniest rabbit in the forest, spots him. This sweet bunny takes Alex home, and together they celebrate the holidays with joy and song. It’s a heartwarming reminder that it’s the size of one’s heart that truly counts during this festive season.
Now, let me just say, the illustrations in this book are absolutely adorable! Philippe Goossens has done a phenomenal job bringing the woodland characters and snowy scenery to life. Each page is a feast for the eyes, with cute little critters that just make your heart melt. What I loved most about The Little Christmas Tree is how it offers teachable moments for parents. It beautifully conveys the message that size doesn’t determine worth and that bullying based on appearance is never okay.
Overall, this book is just a delightful read for both kids and adults alike. It has a lovely story, charming illustrations, and valuable lessons wrapped in a cozy Christmas spirit. If you're looking for a heartwarming addition to your holiday reading list, I highly recommend giving The Little Christmas Tree a try. You won't be disappointed!

Alex is the smallest tree at the Christmas tree school. he was teased by all other specially by Kurt, the biggest tree, who doesn’t let him forget it. But when Alex meets a family of rabbits, he wonders for is it really what’s inside of us all that counts?
This is a good moral book for children to understand that someone's bullying you will not make you small. A Homunculus tree Alex was suffering from harassment for being small till Selma, a young rabbit girl chose to select him for her Christmas. When her father told her that it is very little tree she responded that she is smallest in height too in her classroom. And then, Alex happily lived with them as his teacher Ms. Beer taught her.
It could have been more better if there is more to the teaching for Kurt to make sure young readers do not develop in them the habit of bullying others.
This could have been a part of school curriculum for moral science to make aware children to not to be affected from bullying and stay with their real character of being nice and humble always. In addition, it also teaches to those who bully on how their ill behaviour, be it knowingly or unknowingly to create humor or joke, affect others who they tried it all on.
I really enjoyed this story and it has some lovely illustrations to accompany the text and to bring the story to life - they are really sweet and very much in keeping with the story.
The story is well written and easy to follow - I read the book with my 7 year old daughter and she really enjoyed it and really liked the character of Axel and she thought that the ending was brilliant, it really made her giggle and it was the perfect end to the story.
It is a positive and uplifting book that will be a great, heartwarming read for the Christmas season - it is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!

If you are looking for the perfect holiday book this year look no further. The Little Christmas Tree will warm your hearts and spirits this holiday season and remind you that no matter who you are you are worthy of love. The saying goes Big things come in small packages and that is true in this story. My kids 3 and 8 really enjoyed this story and the illustrations. It is a helpful reminder that we do not have to be others version of perfect and we should always be and believe in ourselves. After graduating Christmas Tree School, Alex the littlest tree is left wondering will he get picked this holiday season? You will have to read to find out!

As the shortest out of my friends, I can relate to this book. Cute story with cute illustrations,
I did however feel the ending needed something more. It felt like a clifthanger
This heartwarming story follows Alex, a small fir tree, as he attends Christmas Tree School. Alex faces some challenges due to his small stature, yet he perseveres. Children will enjoy the whimsical teachings at the school, the encouraging teacher, as well as the vibrant and playful illustrations throughout. Readers will be rooting for loveable Alex as he has to deal with one larger and unkind tree at the school. Readers of all ages will value the uplifting message of celebrating how special each individual is. A highly recommended read for the holiday season!
What an adorable Christmas-themed children's book!! My kids and I both loved it. The main character is young Christmas tree Alex. He is the smallest of the trees in his tree school and gets bullied for it. Alex starts to get discouraged, and even more so after they graduate and all the forest animals choose the other trees. Until one night when a rabbit family comes along, and the youngest rabbit Selma tells her dad that she's the smallest too so Alex is perfect. They proceed to have a lovely Christmas celebration together.
I love when children's books are both entertaining and provide a positive message. The Little Christmas Tree was both and I highly recommend it. My boys are 4 and 6 for reference. We also loved the colorful illustrations.

This story follows Alex, the littlest tree in school! Alex is always being bullied by others for his small size to the point where he starts believing no family will ever want him. Then Alex meets a family of bunnies who are very excited to take him home!
This beautiful story showed the importance of standing up for yourself and never giving up hope. It was beautiful to see the little fir tree find a family where he fit in perfectly. He realized he was just as important as any other tree, he just needed the right people around him.
This story was short and sweet with beautiful illustrations. It did feel as though it abruptly ended and could have used a few more words to close it out.
As the parent of special needs children, I'm always looking for books with inclusive and accepting messages. This one was cute but something about it just felt off to me. The writing was choppy and a bit awkward. I'm not sure the message landed. I'd definitely check it out from the library but it's not a book I'd feel the need to buy or gift.
This is a cute Christmas book! And who doesn't love more Christmas books?! I wouldn't say this one particularly resonated with me, but overall I liked it. 4 stars.
This was such a cute and short story with a good message. I loved the illustration, they were so well executed. This story has me ready for Christmas and it’s only July.
I wholeheartedly believe that kids will love this story. It will help kids understand that everyone has to be nice to each other even if they are different. It is the difference that makes everyone unique. There’s even a bit of “don’t give up because your time will come soon” which was a great adding to the morale of the story. I will definitely be purchasing a copy when it releases.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
A book about bullying, differences, acceptance, standing up for yourself and others and Christmas.
The messages, the art and the characters are lovely.
The prose is a bit clunky and on the nose, but with a bit of editing and subtlety, this can be a perfect children’s book.
It is much enjoyable and lovely as it is as well. 4/5 stars.
Thank you so much to NorthSouth Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Alex is the smallest tree at tree school, he’s constantly bullied by Kurt the biggest tree at tree school. He believes no one will want him at all, until a bunny family arrive and he’s wanted by them.
This was really cute, I loved that he found his place with the bunny family and he didn’t feel so lonely or left out in the end. Alex fitted in perfectly with them size wise. The story tells a few important messages that no matter your size you can do things others can do, it also shares about bullying and how a bullies words can get in your head, but there’s always someone to help you through it.
The illustrations were really adorable in this book, the trees all had little faces, the animals that were coming to pick them out were really cute. This is a really sweet Christmas book that I think young ones would enjoy, it’s super cute, very unique has a sweet story and lots of pretty pictures.
The Little Christmas Tree is a sweet story about a fir tree who overcomes being bullied and finds purpose despite being the smallest of his kind. The illustrations are colorful and perfect for Christmas time.

My kids really liked this book but the teasing made them feel a little bad for the little Christmas tree. At first they thought the little tree wasn't going to get picked but after he did they were excited. I do feel the last page needed at least another sentence or two since it just kind of ended, but it made sense also. My kids loved the ending because the little tree was picked and happy
A heartwarming story about how being smaller or the smallest doesn't mean you're not as good.
The little Christmas, Alex, tree tries his best but a classmate makes fun of him. He feels like he's not good enough. After finishing Christmas tree school, he doesn't get chosen as a tree. Finally a family of rabbits finds and chooses him. They realize he's just as special as a big tree, and he sings along with the Christmas carols!
This was SO cute!! Love the illustrations, and the moral of the story was just fantastic! Would definitely read again and/or buy for kiddos!
Being the smallest in my class until I graduated high school, I can definitely relate to this sweet story. It's a very cute children's story with an important message. I dont know about the part where the father tells his kid he is right 'as always' but besides that, this book was perfection!
