I wish the author didn’t do such slow introductions to the characters and their roles, I feel with such a short children’s book it wasn’t needed. I liked the illustrations and thought the story was sweet, especially for the holidays
This was a cute book. The illustrations were cute and lively. The moral behind the story was very fitting with the making fun and learning to be co didn’t in yourself. My 7 year old loved this. Room for giggles, happiness and cute moments. A great Christmas read but also anytime of the year read.
An adorable Christmas Book about confidence & being yourself!
Alex the Christmas Tree is smaller than the other trees. He’s bullied for his size. When it comes time for the animals to choose a tree, he’s afraid he won’t get picked because he’s small. Will he get picked?? You’ll have to read it to find out!! :)
This is a great book about confidence and image! There’s nothing wrong with being small.
You can even draw comparisons between this book & the Bluey episode “seesaw.”
I appreciate what the author was trying to do with this story but it didn't really resonate with me. The writing felt a bit awkward and abrupt. I don't think the message really landed. However, the illustrations were cute. I especially liked the illustrations with all of the animal families picking out their trees.
The Little Christmas Tree is an adorable story about kindness and self acceptance! The illustrations and characters are lovely. Many children will be able to relate to the main characters's problem in the story. This is a great book to read during Christmas time!
This one fell a little flat for me. I was expecting something happy and Christmas-y, but the story really focused on a small tree who was bullied for his size and how he was valuable too. Nice moral, just not what I was hoping for.
3 stars.
ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a wonderful example of how to write about size and shape of bodies in a kind way. The writing was a little lack luster, but it certainly got the point across with sweet moments and thoughtful responses. I would use it for a toddler storytime if the opportunity came up.
While the story is cute and the pictures are adorable, the story ended abruptly and it felt like the bad guy got just what he wanted in spite of the teacher trying to say he was wrong.
Great for young kids around Christmas! It’s important to give kids examples of bullying so they know when it’s wrong. Loved the ending of this light hearted fun read. I received an advance review copy for free via Netgalley and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a cute story. I love the idea of “tree school” and I think kids would get a kick out of that as well. And the illustrations are very nice.
This is such a lovely book. It has a sweet plot, lovable character and beautiful art. I think the book has a great message and shows that everyone is different but there is nothing wrong with that and we should all try our best and be kind to each other. I think this would be a great book for sensitive kids who sometimes need a bit of a confidence boost

I was immediately drawn to this book by its captivating cover illustration, and every illustration inside is just as adorable. I loved the use of Christmas trees as the characters. Children will enjoy this detail, along with Christmas colors and cute animals. This book is not only cute but can also teach a valuable lesson to young readers. It's essential for children to learn that it's okay to be different. Each individual possesses unique value and deserves to experience love and support. I highly suggest this for parents of elementary school-aged children or school teachers.
This was a cute little story about what truly matters! My two-year-old son loved it! The story was simple, the text age appropriate, and the imagery was fantastic - props to the illustrator!
As an adult, I couldn’t help but laugh thinking about how (in the “real world”) Kurt the bully would get cut down and Alex would be the sole survivor of his class - but that’s must be a different book. This story stayed light, highlighting kindness and inclusion. The major theme being “there is someone for everyone” was prevalent.
Overall a very nice winter read and a great addition to your December collection!
I received an electronic ARC from NorthSouth Books Inc. through NetGalley.
The artwork is joyful and fun to look at. Meyer's message comes through clearly in both the text and pictures. Alex is the littlest tree studying to be a Christmas tree. One of the largest makes fun of him, and, sadly, Alex starts to believe him instead of listening to his teacher. When it is time to choose trees, Alex is the last one chosen but he certainly fits well with the family who selected him. I appreciate the message to believe in yourself no matter what your gifts are or how big or small you are.
I read this book to my five year old son and he said he liked it. The pictures were amazing and he was able to right away say it was a Christmas tree.
I loved the story line.of the little tree because it teaches the kids that it's okay to be small and different. This is going to be a great Christmas story!

The Little Christmas Tree by Thomas Meyer
The Little Christmas Tree is the story of Alex, who happens to be the smallest tree in his class. Throughout the book, Alex is bullied by Kurt, the biggest tree, causing Alex to feel sad. This is a cute way for children to see that even the smallest, can bring great joy and happiness, and that being different is a blessing because we are all a bit different. I enjoyed the illustrations, finding them bright and fun. The message is delivered in a cute way, which will easily connect with little readers.
I definitely recommend this as an addition to your holiday reading as it’s both heartwarming and inspiring.
I love to collect Christmas picture books. The Little Christmas Tree is a heartwarming Christmas story with a beautiful mix of social emotional learning. So much to be learned not only about Christmas spirit, but kindness that we should all give all year round.
