The message of the story was great: there is nothing wrong with being who you are as long as you continue to do your best and show kindness you will do great things.
I liked the concept of the message, the writing style though is not one I’m drawn to for my classroom kiddos, but for those that need a quick story about overcoming negativity and shining bright than this book would be great!
I also enjoyed the concept of the Christmas tree and would agree that this would be a great story during the holidays as well!
Illustrations were fun and colorful which my kids always love!

I had fun reading this book, and I think kids will like to read or have read to them. The drawings were done beautifully, the full story idea was present and developed, too. The only issue I had was with the character/personality development of Alex, the little tree.
I felt like he didn't really have a personality throughout the book, which made it harder to relate to him. He gets bullied by Kurt, the biggest tree, and it is apparent that this is really getting to him. However, when Selma picks Alex out as her family's Christmas tree, Alex says nothing. This made the moral of "it's what's inside that matters" I bit harder to realize. I would have liked to see more of Alex's presumably kind personality, just to bring the whole story full-circle.
The Little Christmas Tree is an adorable children's book with cute illustrations and a heartwarming message. It's very cosy to get into the holiday spirit.
Beautiful illustrations and adorable woodland characters, this children's book provides lessons that parents can expand on.Thank you to NorthSouth Books for the ARC and opportunity to provide an honest review.
Each year I wrap 24 christmas books to unwrap each night and read at bedtime, and this one I'm adding to the list! It was soooooo darling! My kids really will enjoy this. The storyline was just adorable. The characterswere so cute and the illustrations were so fun.
There are so many things to love about The Little Christmas Tree! As soon as I opened the book to the first page and took in the illustration of all of those adorable smiling trees I was hooked. I think everyone can relate to Alex at some point in their life; it's easy to feel like the little guy and get discouraged. But Alex shows us all that kindness gets you where you're supposed to be in the end - surrounded by loving friends.
The illustrations in "The Little Christmas Tree" are adorable, vibrant, whimsical, and are sure to appeal to young readers this holiday season! The basic idea of this book was good, but I didn't love how it was executed. I don't like my children to read books with examples of bullying, even when there is an underlying positive message. It seemed like there was still negativity towards the tree's small size even with the "happy ending".
This was a cute book. It was about the smallest tree in the class doing his very best to fit in. Once he realized he could just be himself, he found his "family". He didn't need to conform to the standards of everyone else. He was loved for being himself.

Great life lesson told to be easily understood. Wonderful illustrations. Would definitely read to my grandchildren.
The Little Christmas Tree is a cute little book that is great for children around the holidays. See the littlest tree in his school as he hopes to one day become a Christmas tree, despite what others expect of him.
This would be great for home or school, but there is a teacher and school in the book.
Cute!
I found the story cute and the drawings very beautiful. The message that the story wants to transmit is clear but i'm sorry that everything was told quickly and the ending was rushed. I know it's a children's story but i think something more could have been done
A seasonal tale demonstrating that Christmas cheer can be found even in the smallest of places.
Alex is the smallest fir tree in the forest, a fact that his neighboring tree, Kurt, never lets him forget. As Ms. Bear prepares the trees for the upcoming holiday season, Alex worries he will never be chosen to be a Christmas tree and is bullied by Kurt for being small. The forest animals arrive, and one by one the families select a Christmas tree, leaving Alex alone as the last tree in the forest. A rabbit family arrives late to pick their tree, but realizes Alex is the perfect fit for their family, as the youngest rabbit is also the smallest in her class. Alex is full of Christmas cheer and enjoys his holiday with the rabbit family, who accepts him as he is.
The message in the story is effective and charming, but it is relatively simple in concept despite the book having pages with full paragraphs of text. The result is a plot lending itself to young readers, but the amount of text to older children. Much of the text is repetitious dialogue, that could easily be reduced without affecting the storyline. There is a missed opportunity for depth with Kurt, whose story never comes full circle, and he never faces any kind of self-reflection or realization of the true meaning of Christmas. It would even appear to young readers that he is rewarded for his unkindness, because despite his constant bullying to Alex, Kurt is still the first tree picked to be a Christmas tree.
Thank you NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for the opportunity to read this e-book in exchange for my honest thoughts!
This is an adorable book that will be loved by young children. As a preschool teacher, I definitely recommend it for the classroom as it's not only super cute but also teaches about kindness, non-bullying, and that it's okay to be different.
