Entrances and Exits is an excellent read or listen. The audiobook narrated by Michael Richards himself and he does a great job with making you feel like you are part of the conversation. I grew up watching Seinfeld and hearing Richards' background makes me appreciate the actor so much more. Richard's upbringing was uncomfortable knowledge to gain, there were parts of his childhood where you really just wanted to reach back in time (and maybe even right now) to give the man a hug.

Overall, I would recommend this book. You learn a lot about the difference between Richards the man and Richards as Kramer. While there parts of Richards' life that led to a tailspin, and while I don't condone derogatory comments he made, I think Richards' did a good job portraying himself as a human who made mistakes and has attempted to atone for them.

Loved that Richards narrated this himself it made all the difference in the world. Hearing his voice made it extra special.
The inside look into Kramers head was really good. It was just long enough to get the information needed without getting to drawn out. Let’s face it we all wanted to hear about life on the Seinfeld set. We got it! Thanks Michael Richards for sharing the world we all want to know about!

While Entrances and Exits does touch upon Richards' time on Seinfeld, it is fundamentally the story of Michael Richards, the man, rather than the character Kramer. Richards shares his personal beliefs, thoughts, and ideas, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding of who he is beyond the screen. This duality of light and dark, good and not-so-good, is explored with honesty and vulnerability, making the book a rich tapestry of his life's experiences.

Until I started getting into Michael RIchards memoir, I didn't realize that I only knew him as 'Kramer' from Seinfeld. Jerry Seinfeld narrates the forward and then Michael Richards narrates the book itself. While I enjoyed it and the story flowed nicely, I realized that, outside of the Seinfeld part and his role as Kramer, I just really wasn't interested in Michael Richards the person. He seems to be a nice person who, like the rest of us, makes mistakes. The difference being, as an actor and public figure, everyone knows when he screws up! I wish him and Beth and his kids all the happiness he has worked so hard to achieve!

Michael Richard is an interesting man.

Surprisingly Spiritual , non drinker, and avid book collector

Entertaining and insightful this book makes me want to rewatch Seinfeld with all of the episode detailed season by season.

Worth the listen in audiobook as it is narrated by Michael himself. He really performs.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I actually enjoyed this more then I expected to.
As a Seinfeld fan I knew I would love that this was narrated by Kramer, but I had no idea Michael Richards had such an adventurous and interesting life before playing his beloved role.
I loved how raw and intimate he was able to be through this memoir and I feel like it really adds to his character.
Loved it. If you’re interested in this books, get the audio. It’s just pure gold in his voice. Loved all the “giddy ups” throughout.
Thank you Netgalley!

4.5 stars

This book is exactly what you would expect from the man who played Cosmo Kramer. It is laugh-out-loud funny (especially the parts that delve behind the scenes of Seinfeld) and very introspective, which is to be expected from many gifted comedians.

There's not much I can say without giving away spoilers, considering this is a memoir, but it definitely met my expectations as to what I wanted to get out of it. Michael Richards does not leave any part of his story out. I really appreciate how honest Richards is about his own faults and weaknesses. He doesn't use his memoir as a soapbox to defend himself or to reinvent any narratives; he simply just wants to tell his story as it unfolded.

As a disclaimer: my ratings for memoirs have nothing to do with the actual life story of the author; it has to do with the way they choose to tell it. For me, the main reason this book isn't a 5 star is because I did find myself tuning out sometimes when it comes to some of the more metaphysical passages. But usually those don't last entire chapters, and Richards' humor always has a way of bringing you back to the story.

Truly the only way to read this book is to listen to the brilliantly performed audiobook, narrated by the man himself. Listening to the audiobook made it feel like I was getting bonus scenes of Kramer, which was comforting considering how I had just finished watching the entirety of Seinfeld and was beginning to feel some withdrawal.

Very special thanks to NetGalley and RB Media for sharing this audio ARC with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Entrances and Exits by Michael Richards is available now wherever books are sold.

I almost didn't read this book, I was a moderate fan of Seinfeld at best and I was worried about some of the...controversy surrounding Michael Richards. Ultimately, I'm glad I read it. I'm not sure how much it changed my opinion but it definitely shed some light on things.

A story about the man behind the characters.
Personally, I preferred his more muted role in "So I Married an Axe Murderer " than the outlandish stuff of "Friday's", "UHF", and, of course..."Seinfeld".

Hearing of his life and the pain/experiences which he draws from gives you the other sides of the coin. Those that make us laugh the hardest are often those who turn deepest into their demons.
So, as an average person, I can recommend it
For a "fan" I say a "must read"

This memoir was a fun listen. It will definitely appeal to fans of Seinfeld, as it is steeped in nostalgia. Overall, though, it was a typical celebrity memoir; it was not a stand out for me.

Thank you NetGalley and RB Media for allowing me early access to the ARC audiobook edition of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Love the show Seinfeld and was excited to listen to this book. As it was interesting it was a bit disappointing as well. The author read the book and did an ok job. It just wasn’t my top list of things to read again.

Michael Richards has written a five star memoir! Entrances and Exits is a beautiful telling from a man with great humility, resilience, and grit. I loved that it was narrated by Richards, as it added so much depth to the telling (I also loved his Jay Leno impersonations!).

We are introduced to Michael Richards from his humble beginnings. His mother made the loving decision to keep her baby after falling pregnant under undesirable circumstances (I don’t want to give spoilers, as this is a huge piece of the book). We are introduced to Michael’s grandmother, who has schizophrenia, as well as his hard working grandfather. Without a father, with his mother and grandfather working to support the family, and raised by a semi-lucid grandmother Michael perseveres. I loved hearing these stories and they made me feel very emotional listening to them.

We are also able to learn about how Michael got into acting and how that took shape over his early years, into his teen years, and even as a young man in the Vietnam War. We learn that stand-up is not his favorite, but he works his craft and is successful in much of what he does.

Obviously Richards’ big break comes with Seinfeld. This was enjoyable to hear about because although I’m 34, I have only just watched Seinfeld over the past few years because my husband has always been such a big fan. I wanted to understand all the references he would make to the show. I feel like the telling of Richards’ character, Kramer, was so enjoyable because he touches on all of those memorable moments in the show. I loved hearing how he picked out items for Kramer to wear and really put his heart and soul into developing the character we all know and love.

I had no idea about Richard’s controversy and felt so sad to hear about how it has impacted him. Everyone makes mistakes and I think it is especially tricky in comedy when it’s usually funnier to be politically incorrect. I found it so brave that Richards made the attempt to face his inner turmoil. He pretty effectively cancelled himself, but also was able to focus on what mattered to him. He was never consumed by fame, drink, or drug like so many successful stars are. He stayed humble and kept encouraging himself to learn more and be a good person. It’s what I think we all strive for.

I loved this and would highly recommend it! Probably one of my favorite memoirs because it made me laugh out loud but also pulled on my heart strings. I will probably always think about the tux/robe/hotel story! The title was especially fitting, both in its reference to Shakespeare and Richards’ time on the stage as well as with events in his life.

Thank you to NetGalley, RB Media, Recorded Books, and of course the author and narrator Michael Richards for a copy of the ALC of Entrances and Exits!

I received an audiobook ARC of this title from the publisher through NetGalley.

This was a great escape. I always enjoy memoirs a little bit more when they're read by the author, as this was. It's especially important here, where Richards sometimes goes into character, and that wouldn't work as well with another reader....

Since I was a fan of Seinfeld, I got an extra benefit from this book, but Richards's life story was interesting before and after Seinfeld as well.

4 1/2 "Cookies!"

First half of this was a bunch of hippy ranting, it felt like Richards going through every New Age fade that has ever existed. But the second half was mostly about Seinfeld and Richards' creation of Kramer and that was all great. The end where Richards comes to peace with retirement and takes accountability for his controversial exit was really good.

7.5/10

I received a free ebook from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. I am a huge Seinfeld fan. I have seen every episode multiple times. I knew almost nothing about Michael Richards.

The book is amazing. I listened to the audiobook in a few days. I was mesmerized by the author's story. He was very real and telling about his life story. I did not expect this of this book.

The narration of the book is wonderful. I can picture the author telling me his story in a casual setting. He uses a lot of emotion in his voice.

The book is a story of the author's childhood, relationships, Seinfeld, illness, family, and spiritual . The author is humble. The book is not what I was expecting. I am so glad I listened to the book.

Thank you so MUCH to me author and Netgalley for this amazing book. I look forward to reading Michael Richards next book. If he does any book signing events, I will definitely be there.

Sometimes things aren't always as they seem. We think we know the character, Kramer, one of the most recognizable characters in sitcom history. Then, the downfall when he seemed to angrily belt out racist responses to a heckler. Ok. That is now said. I read a summary of this book and decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did.
We all aren't the person we were on our worst day. What I admire is that Michael Richards doesn't make excuses, or whine about what happened. He accepts it, does talk about a past that was turbulent to say the least, and where he is at now. He's spent this time working on himself, which he admits he should have done years ago.
It's interesting, and sad, that most comics have a dark past, or issues, that they try to work through with humor.
This book is not just about Kramer, it's a well written book about coming to terms with your whole self.
Like I've found most books by comics, this one is really good to listen as an audio, because you "hear" that familiar voice come through.
Thank you to RB Media and NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

What a wild life. Being a huge Seinfeld fan I was quite interested in learning more about the actor who brought the larger than life character of Cosmo Kramer to life. Michael Richards’ Entrances and Exits did not disappoint, though it definitely surprised me…repeatedly. Yes, of course Seinfeld and the Kramer character are discussed, how could they not be seeing as it is the role he is best known for, but his life before assuming that fascinating character is every bit as wild and outrageous as Kramer himself. And honestly listening to him tell his life story, you can see how much it feels as if he always was or working toward actually being a real life Kramer. Street racing? A bus driver? A solider in the army? When I think of Michael Richards these are but a few of the things I’d never have expected from the man. From the start of his life where he was briefly given up for adoption, Entrances and Exits is filled with incredible story after incredible story detailing the journey of how Michael became the outrageous comedian that made so many of us laugh. I’d like to thank RB Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review an advanced audio copy of Entrances and Exits.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook Entrances and Exits by Michael Richards.

I was so excited to see this on Netgalley! I have to talk about the show Seinfeld to start this review because that is where it all starts for me. I started watching Seinfeld with my father when I was WAY too young to appreciate the humor and I remember laughing at Kramer because his physical comedy struck a chord with me. As I got older the show became my favorite and at 35 I watch the entire series at least 10 times a year. When I met my husband and he told me he didn't like Seinfeld, I told him I didn't think it would work. (As it turns out he did like the show, he just didn't give it a chance) I know an actor is more than the show they are known for but the whole reason I read this book is because Seinfeld is a daily part of my life. Kramer was always such a great character and no one else but Michael Richards could have played him. Kramer wouldn't be the character we know and love without Michael's insight, brilliance and him putting his entire heart and soul into it and that comes through in this book.

Going into this book I didn't know a lot about Michael Richards outside of Seinfeld and the stand up incident that got him kind of cancelled. I remember hearing a rumor years ago that he was not very social with the cast of the show outside of filming and that was it. So when I heard his was writing an autobiography I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

Entrances and Exits is a fascinating view into the psyche of Michael. I had no idea how introspective he is. Michael is so curious about the world, about people, who we are, why we are, what makes us truly human. He lived life taking the unbeaten path and makes no apologies for it. He is unapologetically who he is. He spoke of his childhood, getting into the military, people from the beat generation, the whole "Give Peace a Chance" era and his experience with the world at that time. He spoke of going to school, his introduction to theatre, his time working his way up through the comedy scene, his father and the pain that carried itself into his adult life. He spoke about girlfriends, friendships, comedians... And of course Seinfeld. His love for his castmates and what that show meant to him was so apparent.

This book was raw and insightful and funny and perfect for the Seinfeld fan but you do not have to be a Seinfeld fan to take something away from Entrances and Exits. Micheal Richards narrates this book himself which makes it that much better

5 stars.. bravo Michael Richards!
