I don’t know what kind of eldritch deal Greg the ghost detective made to look that good in a trench coat, but I’ll take ten. Volume two cranks the supernatural chaos up to eleven, throws in some emotional damage, and somehow still finds time for snarky banter and wholesome friendship. It’s like Scooby-Doo meets The X-Files but if Velma had magical powers and Shaggy was dead. And hotter.

Our girl Ellie continues to juggle ghost-busting, mysterious powers, and having absolutely no time for anyone’s nonsense. She’s the true MVP—half-terrified, half-sassy, and 100% done with this demon-infested city. The plot twists come faster than a cursed subway train, and the art? Chef’s kiss. Every panel is like getting smacked in the face with aesthetic excellence.

By the end, I was emotionally compromised, spiritually confused, and fully invested. If Volume Three doesn’t arrive soon, I may summon a demon myself just to get some answers.

Third Shift Society Volume 2 was a great follow-up to the first. It keeps that same episodic feel but starts layering in more mystery, which makes everything even more intriguing. The characters are still the absolute highlight, and I love the way their relationship continues to develop.

I especially appreciated the introduction of new characters and how they added to the complexity behind Ichabod’s backstory. There’s definitely a sense that a bigger story is brewing, and I’m really excited to see where it all leads.

The artwork remains exceptional. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one!

Really fun read. I enjoyed Volume One and this was just as good. Very fun to read web comic turned graphic novel.

This volume of Third Shift Society delves into Season 2 of the web comic in which we find Ellie getting more used to her powers. Ichabod is being really secretive about stuff I suspect Ellie should probably know, especially now that we are beginning to understand the motivations of our demon friends and how they pose a major danger to sensitives like Ellie. The will they won’t they pull is a constant tug of war and I never thought some pumpkin headed guy in a suit would be so very alluring. Can’t wait to see where this story goes!

Thanks to Netgalley and Webtoon for the advanced copy in exchange for this review.

What a fun read for spooky season or any other time of year. I loved the first and the second did not disappoint.

This is volume two of the third shift society.

The Third shift society is a paranormal / supernatural graphic novel that was originally written as a webtoon.

Ellie the FMC was jobless and in debt. That was until she started work as a paranormal detective with a partner who has a jack o lantern as a head. The catch is she has paranormal powers of her own, that are now for the most part under control. The two of them together go up against witches, monsters and demons that want to escape their supernatural jail cells.

Be ready to start to swoon for a pumpkin headed MMC in this whirlwind of a story. This falls under Horror but its more of a cozy horror, if that is a genre, if not ... well it should be and this series can start it.

In volume two we get more of the back story for both Ichabod and Ellie and how their paths lead them to where they are.

This i believe this falls under YA , however after i read Volume one , my eleven year old really enjoyed it and she will be starting volume two this week.

I personally think this would be a really good one to adapt in to an animated series. However I'm anxiously going to await the next volume to come out!

I am really loving this series, but we have more questions then we have answers. I really love Ellie and Ichabod, can't wait for the next Vol to see what happens. The art work is wonderful, really brings the story to life.

Ichabod is mine, fight me.

I am HOOKED. I need to know what happens next because it's looking kind of grim...

Ellie, who has just discovered her supernatural powers, works with Ichabod, a man with a pumpkin head, to investigate the paranormal. Ellie must confess her dream of Alice, who left her with a real mark on her hand. Ichabod enlists the help of a witch to figure out what Alice’s plan is, while also investigating other paranormal creatures.

This was a fun second book in the series. There were a lot of fight scenes that made the story go by quickly. I love the mystery around Ichabod. There was some of his origin story in this story, but he is still secretive and a mystery. I’m excited to see where the story goes next!

Third Shift Society, Vol. 2 is a great spooky graphic novel!

Thank you Wattpad Books for providing a digital copy of this book.

Another terrific entry in what is fast becoming one of my favorite series! This was so much fun. Creepy cases to solve, and would you believe - an epic skeleton battle? Oh, yeah!

This series (two volumes so far) would make a great addition to any library's young adult section.

I cannot wait to read the next one!

Ellie and Ichabod return in an continuation of their adventures from the first book. The supernatural detectives are still working on some random cases but we also get a glimpse into what may have happened to Ichabod. Some of his past does include an old flame, Maris.
Ellie finally does admit what happened to her with Alice as well which is helpful to the group as a whole. She also is coming more into her powers which is fun to see.

This volume is a great continuation of where the story left off. We are still trying to figure out what Alice wants with Ellie. We are still trying to figure out what happened to Ichabod to make him how he is now. And I'm still trying to figure out how a guy with a jack-o-lantern for a head has so much sex appeal. 😂
I really enjoy the action and mystery mixed with the subtle relationship development between Ellie and Ichabod. I can't wait for the next volume.

Published by Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and available October 29, 2024 (just in time for spooky season), Third Shift Society Vol. 2 continues the supernatural exploits of Ellie and Ichabod. In the previous volume, Ellie discovered her psychic powers and began working for Ichabod, a supernatural detective who happens to have a pumpkin for a head. The illustrations are charming and spooky and the world is populated with diverse monsters, making it a treat for fans of series like All Saints Street. Ellie continues to be a likeable and relatable protagonist-- who among us wouldn't spring for a monster-hunting gig with a cool boss that pays well? This volume will most appeal to people who have already read the first volume/season on WEBTOON, but the series as a whole will appeal to fans of weird and wonderful media like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural.

Another great addition to the world of the Third Shift Society! I'm super intrigued by Ichabod's dead-looking hand and what happened to bring him to where he is now - i.e. living as a pumpkin-headed detective for the supernatural. I'm also invested in his and Ellie's budding romance. There's age-gap, size difference, and she-saves-him / he-saves-her elements.

Meredith Moriarty delivers another thrilling ride into the supernatural with "Third Shift Society Volume 2", where paranormal mysteries, quirky characters, and a healthy dose of humor collide. This action-packed sequel takes readers deeper into the strange world of the Third Shift Society, where psychic investigator Ellie and her mysterious, pumpkin-headed boss Ichabod tackle creatures that make the night far more dangerous than it seems.

At the heart of the story is Ellie, a once down-on-her-luck young woman whose life took an unexpected turn when she discovered her latent psychic abilities. In Volume 2, Ellie has grown more comfortable with her powers, though she still has plenty to learn as she and Ichabod face increasingly sinister threats. Their cases now involve cryptic witches, terrifying demons, and ancient monsters with a thirst for destruction. Despite her clumsiness, Ellie’s determination to prove herself is infectious, and her bond with the enigmatic Ichabod adds layers to the narrative, especially as their partnership deepens.

Moriarty’s character development is one of the series’ biggest strengths. Ellie’s evolution from a struggling, uncertain woman to a more confident psychic investigator is both relatable and engaging, making readers root for her success. Ichabod, with his pumpkin head and mysterious past, is an equally fascinating figure. His calm demeanor and cryptic knowledge of the supernatural world create an intriguing contrast to Ellie’s spirited approach, balancing the duo’s dynamic. Their witty banter and growing camaraderie bring heart and humor to the otherwise dark and eerie cases they solve.

Moriarty doesn’t shy away from high-stakes supernatural drama in this volume. With shadowy witches plotting in the background and ancient creatures threatening to break free from their psychic prison, the tension ramps up with every chapter. Fans of paranormal mysteries and fantasy will be drawn to the creative, monster-filled world Moriarty has built, where danger lurks around every corner and the only way to survive is to embrace the unknown.

For readers who enjoy fast-paced stories with a mix of suspense, humor, and supernatural intrigue, "Third Shift Society Volume 2" offers a thrilling experience. The stakes are higher, the enemies more dangerous, and the mysteries more cryptic, keeping readers hooked from start to finish. Moriarty weaves together action, character growth, and supernatural danger seamlessly, ensuring fans of the genre will find plenty to love in this installment.

Whether you’re following Ellie and Ichabod’s adventures from the beginning or diving straight into Volume 2, Third Shift Society* is an addictive series that keeps readers guessing—and eagerly turning pages. With its quirky characters, spooky vibes, and escalating dangers, it’s a must-read for anyone who enjoys a supernatural mystery with heart.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
I’ve missed this world of paranormal shenanigans with lovable characters! After a helpful recap, volume two of Third Shift Society picks up right where volume one ended. I enjoyed the development of Ellie and Ichabod’s relationship as well as the insight on Ichabod’s backstory. The history of how he came to be is really interesting! It ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m looking forward to the next volume!

Ellie is a newly discovered psychic who helps her boss, Ichabod, at his paranormal PI service. ALso, he has a pumpkin for a head.

Did you read Vol. 1? If not, I suggest you do that before going any further. Don’t worry, I’ll wait for you folks here. If you have already read Vol 1, feel free to continue.

Did you like Vol 1? If you did, great! You’ll like Vol 2 as well! We get to learn more about Ichabod’s backstory and we get more plot and less exposition. You know the drill. I actually really enjoy the storyline and its blend of comedic and spooky elements. Ellie is weirdly relatable and Ichabod is weirdly hot (Author’s Note: Don’t you judge me) so I think they make a good pair. I thought that the story where they help the ghost man was actually really sweet and was probably my favorite part. I feel like I have to make an obligatory statement about how much I like the artwork and I do! Overall, I really enjoy this series and can’t wait to read more.

I’m so invested in this investigation of Ellie’s and Ichabod. I don’t know what it is about the pumpkin head guy that is so cute and endearing but it works.

Parts of the story felt a little stiff but overall the plot and art was engaging and enjoyable.
