Just a delicious series of the most cute and adorable animals. I loved it. Thanks for letting me review this title!
These types of books are so cute. I loved the little comics and characters, and definitely felt warm and cozy.
The author did a fantastic job at making this book wonderful. The artwork and stories were funny and at times heartbreaking. The dog and tree one brought tears to my eyes for different reasons. I can see how much work the author did to this book. The comics were clear and to the point - very easy to understand what was happening on each page.
I loved the comics and would read anything more from the author.
Every page is an "awwww..." moment! The humor is light that will not have you die laughing but enough to give a smile in your face. No corniness or no cheese balls but heartwarming like having a cup of coffee while snuggling in bed in a stormy day. Some of the strips can give you a hug or inspiration that won't sound like a Hallmark card. The artwork is cute, minimalist at times and bit of kawaii. You might have seen these strips shared over social media somewhere. This collection is a great read.
This is a beautiful comic which is both heart-warming and hilarious. It is cute, funny, and inspiring. It makes you feel good and calm. It makes you cry too. This is literally a hug in a book form.
I am thankful to #NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced review copy of this book. #AGreatVisualHug#NetGalley
I have read a couple of things from this author before, and really love their art style!
These little comics pack a lot of punch. I laughed, I sympathized, I related. It's just such a cute collection of comics. The characters were so cute. Worth the read for a cute little pick me up. Can't wait to read more of their work!

We are used to enjoying Wawawiwa Comics one comic at a time —or, at the very least, in a smaller amount that what we encounter in this publication—, however, "A Great Big Visual Hug" makes you not wanting to end the book at all, to reach its finish line and leave you without its magic. Every comic strip presented in this book makes us feel something, even the seemingly less important ones. They get you to smile, to feel something, even give you a nostalgic feeling that you didn't know you had.
This book is mainly based in humor, as is Andrés J. Colmenares's work, but that humor holds multiple feelings in every dialogue and illustration. Maybe that's why it traps us and leaves a mark once we've finished it. Or maybe that's because it takes us to the first times we started seeing Wawawiwa in our feeds.
Regardless, It's a heartwarming, hilarious and cute book that would be perfect for anyone.

When I started reading this collection of super short comics, I recognized some of them from scrolling through Instagram and I thought they felt more suited for discovering them like that, just one at a time while scrolling or maybe even by picking this book up and reading them a few at a time. One hour later, I’ve read them all, I basically devoured this book haha.
These comics are so clever, funny, easy to read and often heartwarming.
They may be super short but more than worth reading. It was a joy to read through 200+ of them! Not my favorite collection of feel good comics but a nice one nonetheless.
Since these are comics they were very easy and fast to read. They were very cute, wholesome and funny. Really enjoyed reading these comics. Was very heartwarming and light.

I love this book. The comics are all so endearing and sweet. This is the perfect book to have on hand for a challenging day. I will open this one many times I am sure.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for this title. All opinions are my own.
I have always love the Wawawiwa comics whenever I came across them on Instagram. I read When Sharks Attack with Kindness at the end of 2020 (in that year we all needed a hug in book form).
This book is an even better hug with all its heartwarming comics. I love the art style, it is sweet and simple. All the comics are short, so I flew through the book with laughs and smiles.
A Great Big Visual Hug is an ideal gift book for friends, family, colleagues, and other loved ones who need a little laugh and smile these days. Highly recommend to read it if you have the chance.
In a Nutshell: A cute little collection of comics that will warm your heart and bring a smile to your face. If you know Wawawiwa comics, you know what to expect. A great gifting option.
I’ve been a fan of Wawawiwa comics since many years now. Author Andrés J. Colmenares, who is a self-taught illustrator from Colombia, describes his work as a "visual hug" [Cue: the title of this compilation!] and he is absolutely right. The art is always cute and the content is always endearing.
The main feature about these comics is that they personify not just animals but also objects that we would never think of in a anthropomorphised way. Think toothpaste tubes, avocados, cola cans, the planets, balloons, body organs, and so on with human sentiments – ridiculously funny, but Colmenares manages to make them sweet.
This latest collection contains some of the most liked comics from Wawawiwa’s Instagram page. At about 200 pages, this is much longer than Colmenares’ earlier Wawawiwa compilation, ‘When Sharks Attack With Kindness’, which had about 128 pages. Both the books are adorably uplifting!
I had already seen many of these comics before, but they are so heartwarming that a repeat read never hurts. Some of the strips are funny, some are thought-provoking, and some are just ‘awww’-inducing. While the animal-based ones are my favourite, all are delightful.
Most of the strips have a fresh feeling, with only a few seeming a bit repetitive. At the same time, I wish there had been a few new comics also in the set. If a reader can see the same content browsing through the Wawawiwa site or the Instagram page, why would they buy the book?
The illustrations are exactly as you can see on the cover – kawaii-style cute!
This needn’t be a book you read from start to end. You can just flip to any random page and get your dose of a daily smile.
Much recommended. As a wonderful combination of heart and humour, this would make for a wholesome gift to loved ones of any age, to family as well as friends and colleagues.
4.25 stars.

this is on me doing the absolute minimal amount of research before starting a book bcos I like a bit of surprise but let me tell you, I was *definitely* surprised when I discovered I already follow this artist online and love their stuff! literally never miss a post, so this was like a fun little reread!
anyways love love LOVE! it’s so damn cute, I love the art so much and it’s hilarious, highly recommend!
This is such a sweet book and it would make a wonderful gift. I enjoyed the cute art on the cover and the message.
This book full of uplifting and funny comic strips really lives up to its name! A fun, quick read, a great pick-me-up for when you’re feeling sad. Also would look great as a coffee table book, would work as a gift to a friend. It has a bunch of sweet and funny comic strips about different characters, from humans and pets to inanimate objects having their own perspective. It was not my first time seeing Andres J. Colmenares's comic strips, yet the ones in the book were new to me.
Thank you NetGalley and Heartwarming Wawawiwa Comics for providing access to this book in exchange for an unbiased review!
This book is a compilation of adorable comics. They reminded me of dad jokes, but in a good way.
All of the comics had me smiling, laughing, or going "AWWW", which I take as a good sign. This was and easy and quick read, but the artwork and humor makes it worth it. I wish I was half as funny as the author/illustrator.
My favorites included any of the ones with the pasta, the alarm clock one, the chicken and the picture frame, and baby ghost trick-or-treating. They were all so adorable, and brightened my day!
Thank you Andrews McMeel Publishing for a copy of A Great Big Visual Hug!
