This is the perfect pick me up. If you ever feel sad and need something to reminds you of life's gifts, this is the comic book for you.
The author takes everyday objects and gives them a creative, fun and cute twist. You will realize how many things are normalized but if you change the angle in which you see them they take a whole new meaning.
They're beautiful illustrations that will entertain children and adults the same, with funny phrases and kind words, this would make the perfect table book to have a home or a wholesome gift for friends and family.
This is, in fact, a great visual hug, I loved it.

Thank you for the EArc NetGalley and Andrew’s McMeel. This is the cutest book and would be great to have on your work desk as a pick me up. The illustrations and the way the characters interact is adorable. I especially loved the scissors and the pumpkins, without giving anything away. Too cute.
This was absolutely adorable! I loved the characters, the simple panels, and the overall theme of the book. There were a few moments where I laughed out loud reading because it was so relatable. The world needs more of these simple joys!
I knew the Wawawiwa Comics from Instagram and this amazing book provides a wonderful collection of these cute comics. The descriptive "visual hug" is absolutely fitting. The Comics are just so heartwarming. The characters are the cutest and everybody is so pure and friendly, I always get a warm, fuzzy feeling after reading them. I wish there were more people spread happiness in the world. This is a great coffe table book.
As a side note, my 5-y.o. really loved the pictures but couldn't really understand what a lot of the pictures were about. The topics are definitely for an older audience.
This book really made me grin wide. Instant mood booster. Wholesome, cute, and creative on so many levels. I loved it so much

So cute! So adorable! The title is quite accurate: reading this book made me feel calm and cozy. Many pages I just had to share with my spouse.
So cute and wholesome. Love love loved it. So funny and adorable. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. What a wonderful book to make you smile.
Absolutely adore this book. Love the illustrations and the little positive messages accompanying it. I can see myself gifting this to a friend.
These comics were so darn cute! I've seen these clips and postings before on social media and always loved them. Having a collection of them in a book and being able to read and flip through them warmed my heart. This is truly adorable and a book you can read at any age and with any one! The illustrations were very well done, full of life and colors, keeps you attention too. While the text was easy to read, funny, cute, and short to keep your attention. There are so many topics and so many characters in this book that you want to keep flipping the pages and meeting them!
A Great Big Visual Hug is a wonderful compilation of Wawawiwa comics!
I have been a long-time fan of Wawawiwa comics online & loved the chance to review this compilation. The comics were adorable & there were plenty that I had never seen before. It was the best cozy read when I needed to smile.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who just wants some adorable, happy comics. No plot or danger needed. Thanks to NetGalley, Andres Colmenares, and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the chance to read & review!
Wow, this is an epitome of a great big visual hug :) As an elementary ELL/ESL teacher, my classroom library has a lot of whimsical, cute comics and I actually have another one of Colmenare's books that is very popular with my beginner readers. This is so sweet and uplifting, with simple language and adorable illustrations. I already added it to my classroom wishlist for next year!
A great big visual hug indeed! I had seen a lot of Colmenares’ drawings before on social media, but looking at a whole book of them at once was so heartwarming. The situations and characters are funny, cute and silly in every single panel. This artist really has a knack for turning puns into adorable drawings. Reading this book was a great self-care activity after a long day at work, but I think it works even better reading just a few pages every day.
This was so cute!! I genuinely laughed and "awww'd" over most of the comics. The illustrator is so creative and talented. Would definitely read more books from him and I'll be keeping this book in mind for a fun gift for friends!
Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me a copy of this for review!
Ah this book was so so cute!! I don't know why but the moth joke got me the most. You can tell how much creativity went into this cute little book and almost every page made me giggle. This would be a perfect gift for my friend since this is her vibe completely. I love love love how cute all the drawings are too. 10/10!!
Thank you to Andrés J. Colmenares, Heartwarming Wawawiwa Comics, and NetGalley for access to this book! All opinions are my own.
Colmenares is an illustrator whose comics you have probably seen somewhere before. He’s funny, whimsical and heartwarming. I loved this collection of his best-loved comics thus far. You will, too! You will come away happier, I promise.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
