Thank you, #NetGalley, #ChristineRScott, and #ToddRosenthal, for the ARC in exchange for my honest review of #GutHealthForWomen.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This book is broken up well and has some great points throughout. It was interesting to see how gut health changes throughout life and found it great that the book considers food sensitivities and budget friendly ideas. I was glad for the bit on reading and understanding nutritional information as it can feel overly complicated sometimes despite trying previously. I also found the whole chapter on foods to ‘cool down inflammation’ very useful and having a chapter on each meal and then snacks is great as it means there’s lots provided.
Gut health for women will aide and help you understand how important a healthy gut is for everyone especially women,.
As our bodies with its hormonal complexities will function much better if everything is balanced like a finely tuned engine, it's most beneficial that we understand how to get optimum body performance for our wellbeing.
Something I enjoyed about this book is how personable the author is. There is a lot of helpful, basic information in here, so if you're just starting on your gut health journey check this out!
I think the author missed a chance to make the book more dynamic and visually appealing. Graphs, charts, guides, recipes, etc. would work amazingly in here. Also, the repetitiveness of information got a little tedious at times.
Overall I'm glad I read it and it's a good jumping off point for anyone's gut health journey.
I really enjoyed this book. Always looking for new ideas on this topic. I found it to be an interesting read with some good elements. Recommend
Gut Health for Women” dives deeply into a scientifically rich topic while making it accessible and relevant to readers. From the start, the author’s knowledge and expertise shine through, balancing complex scientific concepts with practical advice aimed specifically at women. This focus is especially appreciated, as women’s health has historically been underrepresented in medical research, so this book’s focus on addressing an often-overlooked area is great. The author’s relatable tone fosters a sense of connection and shared experience, helping readers understand the importance of gut health in a way that feels both personal and engaging.
The book’s layout is more reminiscent of an academic textbook than a lifestyle guide, so readers should be aware that it focuses on evidence-based information rather than visual elements and the like. This format, while effective in presenting the science, might be challenging for those looking for a lighter read or more visual content. That said, the bullet-pointed grocery lists, meal suggestions, and shopping tips are especially helpful and make the information easier to digest. I also appreciated that the author thoughtfully includes vegetarian and vegan options, reflecting a modern and inclusive approach to dietary recommendations.
Throughout, the author emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating the science of gut health with practical lifestyle tips around diet, mindfulness, and exercise. This makes the book ideal for readers who want to go beyond surface-level knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of gut health. While the meal ideas are creative, having specific recipes would benefit readers who need more precise guidance. Still, the book provides a strong foundation, equipping readers with tools and empowering them to make positive changes for their health.
Overall, the author offers an insightful, comprehensive take on a popular topic. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to genuinely understand the science behind gut health, and I especially appreciated its celebration of women’s health—a much-needed step forward in health research. I look forward to applying some of the tips myself!
Thank you to Netgalley and this team for an advanced copy of this book.
Gut health is so incredibly important for everything from quality of life to weight loss and yet most people have no idea what it is or hoe this can cause you to thrive or fail to do so.
This book is great for beginners or even a recap in gut health, what effects it and why it's important that we all be versed in this topic.
Very interesting and very helpful to someone like myself who suffers with their gut
Well laid out a book I will be dipping in and out of regularly
For someone who doesn't know much about gut health, this book is a wonderful introduction to many basic tenets. However, for someone who's educated themselves about gut health in general, like many women with digestive issues, this doesn't have much that's new. It's definitely worth a read if you're at the beginning of your journey learning about this!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!
A really informative and interesting read with lots of helpful information I will try to implement. I really liked the layout however I will say at some points o did feel it was slightly getting repetitive.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher
A great informative guide to understanding how your gut health really matters in all aspect's of your wellbeing. A must read for all women, I suffer with psoriasis and ibs and i was excited to see this book, and it was great, giving me lots of options to implement into my own life to help. This book will be so helpful to lots of women out there whom are quietly suffering.
Presenting "Gut Health for Women: Empowering Your Body From the Inside Out"-a revolutionary guide crafted specifically for women like you, struggling with gut health, and yearning to regain control of their lives. It's not merely a book; it's your road to an empowered life, free from the grip of gut health woes.
Unfortunately this book wasn't for me. I guess I already knew the information presented and I found the book needlessly repetitive and full of fluff. Each section presented the intro to the section, covered a idea or two, and then a conclusion. Removing all the intros, conclusions and presenting most of the ideas in lists or tables would have been more useful and clear with a book about 1/3 of the length.
i really enjoyed this book. i was able to read it in about 2 hours. i will be taking a lot of what i learned and applying it to my daily routines. I would give it a higher rating, but a lot of what was said was repeated! overall, i would recommend this book if you are looking to make positive life changes for your overall health.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I found this book fascinating,, with some interesting facts. Now to put it into practice.
I feel like we all need to work on having an anti-inflammatory diet…I know I definitely do! Some tips shared:
-Think of your gut as your second brain
-Have a diet rich in diverse, fiber-packed foods, colorful veggies, fermented food, etc.
-Drink plenty of fluids to have your digestive system run smoothly
-Chronic inflammation creeps into your life due to stress, a poor diet, environmental toxins, etc.
-Need antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, and no processed foods/excess sugar
-Add in vibrant berries, flaxseeds, seasonal veggies and fruits, beans, sesame seeds, etc.
Notable lines:
-“ . . . remember that you have the power to influence your health through the choices you make at the dining table. Each meal is an opportunity to nourish your body and give it what it needs to thrive.”
Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book!
3.75 Stars.
As a woman in her 50s experiencing gut issues, I was drawn to this book by its title and description. Initially, I thought it might rehash many things I had already read on the subject, but I was pleasantly surprised and blown away by its content.
Christine R. Scott covers many solutions to help restore gut health, delving into the complexities of hormonal imbalances and their effects on our gut. The book is a comprehensive guide that is informative and accessible, making it a valuable resource for myself and many other women struggling with gut health.
This book will be a staple on the medicinal shelf in my library, as I firmly believe in healing oneself with food. Scott's practical and inclusive approach, making it accessible to everyone, has truly empowered me and will undoubtedly benefit many others.

This is a good book for those just starting their research into gut health. I have a candida overgrowth and have been reading a lot about improving my gut health. So for me a lot of the information was not new. I do feel like there was a lot of “fluff” and repetition to the book that was not necessary.
Thank you to Todd Rosenthal, Christine R. Scott, and NetGalley for Giving me an eARC of Gut Health For Women - Empowering your body from the inside out.
This book is essentially a comprehensive guide to gut health. In other terms, it provides women with a wide variety of options to help their sensitive gut. What I appreciated about this book is that while it did have a heavy food based emphasis, that was not the only solution. Often times, when there is a guide or book that centers around gut health and a sensitive gut, it only focuses on food options, largely to FODMAP diet. This book however, not only provided readers with a wide-variety of anti-inflammatory foods, but it also provided reasons as to why those foods would be beneficial. What I appreciated was that there were explanations for why your gut might be struggling or why a certain food/diet might help that was easy to understand. I will say, I do think that this book serves best as a guide to keep on hand, rather than something to read straight through. It is short which means that if you do want to read it straight through, it will not take you long. However, I personally think that this book is something that would be more beneficial to keep on hand for when you need it. I would recommend first skimming through the book so that you know what the book offers, and reading the first couple of chapters, which provide a nice overview. However, there are numerous chapters on food options and paragraphs that just describe different foods or meals that you can eat. The information in those chapters are beneficial and will be really helpful to people, but know going into it that there is a good chunk that is just food recommendation chapters.
