I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book. At first it was similar to other hockey romances I have read, BUT the mystery focus and the intense ‘he falls first’ trope took it to another level. Finn and Josslyn met through Finn’s sister 3 years before the setting for this story. So many things happen - and when his sister winds up dead, Finn has some suspicions of Josslyn and some in her circle. They had such a great push and pull dynamic - not really an enemies to lovers type feel, but she definitely gave back as much as she took from Finn. Eventually, they both start looking into death together while also getting closer.
This story is packed with so many events that cause the reader to question everyone and everything. The narrators added so much to this story. They did such a great job with making tense moments more tense and swoony moments more swoony. I don’t want to give away anything, but I will say, while listening, there was a moment when I audibly gasped - and had people in the room with me look at me like I was crazy 😆 If you can, go into it as blind as possible - and enjoy the ride!!
I received a free ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review

The audiobook is DUEL narration, and it's done extremely well. The narrators brought the characters alive! I highly enjoyed this audiobook and finished it in 1.5 days. This book is so much MORE than a hockey romance. This book has a subplot of suspense twist, and I am here for it.
This is the second book I have read by Claries Contreras, and so far, I haven't been disappointed.
