Waw, nes i orffen y nofel hon mewn llai na 24 awr, o'r bennod gyntaf doedd dim posib' rhoi hon i lawr. Mae'r nofel yn dechrau gyda pharti sy'n gorffen gyda llofruddiaeth erchyll mewn tŷ ar draws y ffordd. Mae dawn ysgrifennu Jill Childs yn eich hudo, yn gwneud i chi gredu unrhyw beth, doeddwn i ddim yn gwybod pwy i'w goelio o un bennod i'r llall ond hefyd rywsut yn coelio pob un ohonynt! Stori sy'n sicr o'ch synnu, yn llawn dirgelwch a hen gyfrinachau yn cael eu datgelu ar ôl blynyddoedd o guddio a chelwydd. Mae'r nofel wir yn profi cryfder cariad a chyfeillgarwch, ffyddlondeb a chyfiawnder, roedd sawl elfen annisgwyl yn y stori ac fe fydd y diweddglo yn aros gyda mi am hir. Ydi o'n wir fod gwaed yn dewach na dŵr? Ewch ati i ddarllen y nofel hon i weld a all cyfeillgarwch oroesi popeth!

Wow, I finished this novel in less than 24 hours, from the first chapter I couldn't put this one down. The novel starts with a party that leads to a violent murder in a house across the street. The author's writing is enticing, makes you believe anything, I wasn't sure who to believe from one chapter to the next, yet somehow ended up believing everyone as the clever story developed! A tale that will certainly shock you, full of mystery as secrets of the past come to light after years of hiding and lying. This novel definitely tests the strength of love and friendship, loyalty and justice, there were many unexpected twists in the story, and the ending will stay with me for a long time. Is blood truly thicker than water? Get reading to see if friendship can survive against all odds!

The House Across the Street by Jill Childs is a gripping psychological thriller that hooks you from the very first page. The story revolves around Ellie, who becomes embroiled in the mysterious events unfolding in the house across from her own. Childs masterfully weaves a tale of suspense, secrets, and unexpected twists that keep you guessing until the end. The characters are well-developed, and the atmospheric writing adds a layer of tension that makes it hard to put down. This book is a must-read for fans of thrillers and mysteries, earning every bit of its five-star rating for its compelling plot and expertly crafted narrative. Definitely a must read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The House Across The Street was twisty and fun. It was my first Jill Childs book and I really enjoyed it. The book starts off at a fast pace and maintains the pace throughout.

The saying goes secrets have a way of catching up with you and this holds true for Anna and Lily. Best friends from childhood, each has returned to the homes they grew up in which are across the street from each other. When a casualty occurs they lean on each other to come to grips with the tragedy. They both are carrying secrets that could be harmful to the other. Though they try to guard their secrets they eventually surface and the hurt is unavoidable.

This story is told from multiple POVs and is very fast paced. The ending is something I didn't see coming and caught me off guard. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves a twisty domestic thriller.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC of this book

Who killed DR. Taylor? That's the question Anna is determined to answer for her friend Lili who has been like a sister to her. Unfortunately, someone doesn't want her to get the answer and goes so far as to threaten Anna's daughter Cassie. And btw, who is Cassie's dad? This is told in multiple POVs and time frames and while it isn't as twisty as I'd hoped, there are some good surprises. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

3.5 Stars! Overall, I enjoyed this book! I felt it was a slow start and read a lot like a movie script. There were multiple POVs and a lot of time jumping. But 40% of the way in and I was definitely more interested! The flashback scene in chapter 23 is when things pick up. I felt that the story lacked any real hints. I find the best part of reading a thriller is trying to guess the ending! While I enjoyed reading this book I wish it was more suspenseful. The author did surprise me with twists I didn’t see coming and for me that’s always a good thriller!

This is your classic domestic thriller, which is great for me because I love domestic thrillers, but unfortunately it was missing that WOW factor. There were several things I predicted ahead of time, but still a few fun twists that I didn't. I had fun reading it, it just wasn't anything super exceptional. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4!

The book grips you right from the start. The beginning is a description of a lovely idyllic life on Riverside street where all neighbours know and look after each other.
Two families are especially close, main characters growing up together. As book unfolds, many secrets and life tragedies that met those families are revealed. It seems incredible they have moved past some of those.
The book is fast paced and it keeps you guessing.
However there were occasions you are cross with the main character, holding on to some secrets.
Without giving anything away, I would give the book higher rating if the last page was removed, it just made me frustrated and annoyed ha-ha.

So early on in the book, this amazing author captures my attention with her sentences along the lines of “Cassie maybe right, maybe a stranger is spying on the family at night, and this stranger may know too much about the present or secrets of the past”. This book is phenomenally written with a quick turn pager, and twists you don’t see coming! I would definitely read more books from this author!

Thank you Jill Childs and NetGalley for allowing me to read this amazing book!

- [ ] This is a story about two friends who would go to the ends of the Earth for each other. But nothing is as it seems. This book is full of exciting twists, one after another-and as a voracious thriller reader, I had absolutely no idea what the next twist would be! And there were several twists! The characters could have been more well-developed. Part of the reason I was unsure of each twist was because I didn’t know the characters well enough to predict their actions. Still would recommend and still enjoyed. 4 ⭐️!

📕 books by Lisa Hewitt or Sally Hepworth

summary:
This book is about a woman named Anna, who lives in a idilic community with her daughter, Cassie, when she finds her best friend Lily’s father, Dr. Taylor, murdered in his home across the street. The Taylor’s were like family to Anna and her brother, Tim, and all three of them, along with Lily’s brother, George, are crippled with guilt. Who would kill the beloved Dr. Taylor and why? What did Anna see out the window when she found his body? And why is someone now lurking outside at night and leaving threatening notes for Anna and her family?

This book is an incredibly quick read, focusing on the mystery and the various players involved. They don’t go super deep on any of the characters’ personalities or backstories, but it works given the length of the book and the focus on the mystery itself. There are a couple of twists and turns and red herrings, and the end IS more surprising than you think it’ll be, with one bomb dropped, then a second, with an eerie cliffhanger at the end. There is also a fun, softer secondary plot around who Cassie’s father is, which adds another element to the overall story. For fans of quick reads, murder mysteries and fast thrillers, this book is definitely for you.

Thanks to Bookouture and Net Galley for the ARC, and check this out when it releases on July 15!

I raced through this book in one sitting, it was a little slow at times and I pushed on as I wanted to find out if my suspicions were true, they were but that wasn’t the twist. All in all I enjoyed the book but a few parts weren’t really believable and put me off a bit but not completely. It’s a solid 3 star book for me and I’d certainly try another of the authors books. Thank you for the arc

The House Across The Street was my first Jill Childs book. The basic story line was intriguing. The story was full of twists and turns, but I found it a bit slow. I am not sure if it was my mood. I would like to read another book by the author to decide.

Thank you Net Galley, Jill Childs and Bookouture for the opportunity to preview this title and the opinions shared are my own. The book is expected to be released July 15, 2024.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book. If I could give half stars it would be more f a 3.5 than 3.
I love a good domestic thriller especially between best friends ! The storyline was amazing, I just feel there were moments where the timeline seemed a little confusing and I didn’t know if days, weeks or months had passed and then it going between first person to third person narration just wasn’t as cohesive as I would have liked.
As much as had an idea of a couple of the twist that came up it was executed perfectly & fun to have them confirmed. The ending was great!! I did not see that twist coming and it left me a gasp just like I enjoy for thrillers .

Late one night, as Anna looks out the window of her beautiful home, she observes a strange flashing light and a dark figure moving up the stairs in the Taylor house across the street. She immediately becomes alarmed. The elderly Dr. Taylor lives alone and may be in danger. When Anna enters the house to check on him, she finds that he has been stabbed to death.
The doctor’s daughter, Lilly, is Anna’s best friend. Anna immediately comes to her aid and vows to help find out who committed this horrible crime. After Anna tells the police what she knows, her life is suddenly in danger. She begins to receive threatening notes. The killer knows what she saw. When someone throws a brick into Anna’s daughter Carrie’s bedroom window, shattering the child with glass, Anna stops helping with the investigation. She is desperate to help Lilly find the killer, but her daughter’s life comes first. This is a mind-blowing, gripping psychological thriller with endless twists and turns. The grand finale is an ending that will blow you away.
