The Lucky Widow by Samantha Vérant is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps you on edge with its shocking twists. The story is fast-paced, and the suspense builds steadily, making it hard to put down. The main character is well-crafted, and her journey is filled with unexpected turns. While the ending may feel a bit rushed, the twists along the way make it a thrilling ride. A solid 4 stars—suspenseful, smart, and full of surprises.

The Lucky Widow is a sharp and gripping psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The protagonist, who finds herself under suspicion after her husband’s mysterious death, is a complex character with a tangled web of emotions and motives. The narrative takes readers deep into her thoughts, revealing her troubled marriage and the dark secrets she’s kept hidden. The suspense builds gradually as the investigation unfolds, with plenty of twists to keep you guessing about the truth. The writing is engaging, and the psychological depth adds a unique layer to the typical whodunit. While the pacing occasionally slows, the compelling character development and the tension between guilt and innocence make for an enjoyable read. A solid 4 stars for those who enjoy domestic thrillers.

This was a hang on to the edge of your seat thriller. I couldn't put this down. Well written domestic thriller told in dual POV style. "I'm going to float like a butterfly. And then sting like a hundred killer bees." LOVE THAT LINE! Very complex but compelling read. look forward to more by this author.

A great read. What a story, just when you think you know what is happening in the story, there are a few twists thrown in. I never expected the ending, but I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me the chance to read this book.

The Lucky Widow, unfortunately, was too slow of a burn for me. I got to about 35% and just could not get into the writing. I ended up DNFing this particular story. But thank you so much for the opportunity to ARC read for you.

This book had been really intriguing to me ever since I saw the title and read the description.

From the beginning itself, the plot kept me hooked. I sadly wasn't able to finish it for some personal reasons, but I really liked it as far as I read of it.
It might be a bit disturbing for those who are uncomfortable with dark stuff, but I personally enjoyed reading it!

I'd certainly be looking forward to more from the author!

You return home from a work trip to find your husband dead in your pond. You do your best not to speak ill of him in front of the cops but everyone knows that you r made comments over the last few years about wanting to kill him.

- I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was fast paced an engaging. Thank you netgalley for the arc!

What a wild ride. A bit confusing at times to keep all of the characters straight but a great read nonetheless.

This book is dark but filled with lots of drama! I had no idea who killed Nate. I think it would have been nice if there had been trigger warnings listed at the beginning of the book, especially with how dark some of it was. I was truly shocked by the ending. Thank you NetGalley, Samantha and Storm Publishing for the ARC!

The Lucky Widow is my first read by Samantha Verant. It was a good introduction to a new author. A lot is going on in this story, with lots of characters and multiple little plotlines. Detective Rossi wasn't my fave—I was actively rooting against her—but I can see that being intentional as I type that out.

Highlights:
- The dark plot
- Multiple POVs - it was a pleasant surprise to get to hear Nate's POV
- Emma - is she good? Is she bad? Does it matter?
- How the relationships between Emma and her daughters, Abby, Taryn, Luisa and the rest of
the team show the power of women supporting women

I recommend The Lucky Widow to my fellow fans of dark revenge thrillers.

Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the gifted copy.

This book wa ok for the most part. I was back and forth on who was responsible, though I was right…just the process of getting to the answer was a bit overly complicated and unbelievable.

Emma returns from a work trip to find her husband Nate dead, Emma becomes the main suspect even though she was out of town the night he was killed.
This is a great psychological thriller, I did guess the ending but it still kept me engaged because as at points I was second guessing myself.
Thank you NetGalley, Samantha Verant and Storm Publishing for this ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.

Emma’s marriage has been on the rocks for years now. She has even openly joked with her friend and staff that she wishes her husband would just die. It would certainly make her life easier. He has dominated her ever since they got married but no more, Emma is now ready to reclaim her life. After a vacation to Paris with her best friend, Emma finally has the proof she needs of her husband’s infidelity to end this marriage and ask for a divorce. Upon returning home however, Emma finds her husband face down in the pool….dead. And the police suspect she has something to do with it, and will do anything they can to prove it.
Overall rating 3/5
I was hooked by the opening of this book but it soon dragged on for me in the following chapters. The middle of the book I felt was just a bandaid to hold us over until the ending twist and ultimate conclusion. I would have loved more of the hilarious banter given in the beginning between Emma and her friend. Or more development of the relationship between Emma and her children. I did like the multiple layers of twists at the end.

*Thank you to Samatha Verant, Storm Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC copy. I am freely leaving my honest review.
