I kept hearing this book being compared to The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, which is one of my all-time favorite books. That’s high praise, so I was a skeptic heading into this book, but wow, was I blown away! Not only did this meet the expectation, it exceeded it.
Evelyn and Arden have lived and loved each other in many lifetimes, but in a strange twist of fate, Arden kills Evelyn in every single one, just shy of her 18th birthday.
This story alternates between the present day and all of Evelyn and Arden’s past lifetimes. It took me a bit to settle into the rhythm of the story, but once I did, I became immersed in the lives of these characters spanning lifetimes. The author does a great job of weaving mystery and intrigue throughout the story, leaving you aching to know more until the very end. This was so cleverly done and so unique that I have a feeling this book will stick with me for a long time!

Ugh this book!! It was everything a great story should be and it was one of the books that the second I started reading it I knew I was going to love it. This story was a book about two souls that are destined to fall in love but that will also kill each other prior to turning 18. I loved the story of Evelyn and Arden, their love transcending time circumstances. The story was so well written and had such a great ending.
Thank you to Netgalley and to the publishers for allowing me to read this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This has is one of those books that lures you in with a creative premise, a striking cover, and poetic prose, then unfolds into a heart-wrenchingly beautiful story that explores the great human paradoxes of love and loss, life and death, endings and beginnings. I personally enjoyed the slower pacing, and I felt like it struck a solid balance between the modern-day plot and past-life flashbacks. It was witty and devastating and I already wish I could read it again for the first time. There are lots of good quotes, but I think the one that hit hardest was Evelyn's philosophy from the trenches, and I'm leaving this book with a goal of giving more credit to the small joys in life.
“I think I understood a long time ago that big joy and small joy are the same” […] “But that victory felt no different to curling up in an old armchair with a faded blanket and reading my little sister a bedtime story. It felt no different to a perfect pot of coffee, or a warm croissant fresh from the bakery. And so even when there’s no big joy […] there’s still the small joy. A sunset, a flask of tea. Your hand in mine.”
The only things keeping this from a full 5 stars are the moments where the writing leans a *little* too flowery and my lightly conflicting feelings about the explanation(?) in the last chapters.
Laura Steven, thank you for sharing this absolute gift of this story with this world. Also, saudade might be my newest favorite un-translatable word.

I really enjoyed this one. It took me a little bit to get into it but once I did I was hooked.
Things I liked:
1. The writing. It felt lyrical and poetic in a simplistic way.
2. The dual timeline with the flashback scenes. They didn’t feel repetitive in structure or theme. They were also placed into the story to complement what was happening in present day.
3. Just the overall story and the ending.

Oh my gosh this consumed me and now I don’t know what to do with myself now that’s it’s over. INFINITY STARS ✨ my poor Evelyn and Arden I love them!! Thank you netgalley for the arc!!!

Huge thank you to @wednesdaybooks @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved this one!

I was hooked from the very first line. This is a unique love story that crosses centuries. Two soulmates fall in love over and over again, but there’s a catch. Arden, or the version of Arden has killed Evelyn in every life right before her eighteenth birthday. This current life is different. Evelyn is ready to finally break the curse and there are so many twists and turns along the way.

Laura Steven’s 'Our Infinite Fates' is a dazzling, genre-blurring tale that explores destiny, free will, and the countless paths a life can take. With sharp wit and propulsive storytelling, Steven crafts a narrative that is both wildly inventive and deeply human, balancing humor, heart, and high stakes twists. 'Our Infinite Fate's is a must-read for those who love their speculative fiction bold, brilliant, and brimming with possibilities. Clever, thought-provoking, and endlessly engaging! This is one I will be thinking about for quite some time.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for this eARC.
This book was beautifully written and I enjoyed reading it. BUT I needed more of Evelyn and Arden, not just snippets of their past lives (it actually got a little redundant towards the middle because it typically just skipped to the parts of their demise) but more about them in each life, how they were as individuals, their journeys to finding each other, how they end up loving each other more in each life until it becomes too much. I just needed a little bit more! I expected a soul sucking book. The tears were enough to give it 4 stars and not 5.

beautiful beyond belief… this book made my hand sore from highlighting in my kindle so aggressively!
I DEVOURED this book, the prose swept me off of my feet and I could not stop the emotional ache that lived in my heart the entire time. If you’re looking for a love story that spans centuries, and truly gives meaning to the words “soul mate” then you NEED to pick up this book this year.
The fantasy level in this book is very entry level, if you’re more of a historical fiction/romance reader I still feel as though this book will appeal to you!
I could say so much more about this story, but I feel like it’s one of those books that you should experience for yourself, the sentiments shared throughout carried lessons I will continue to hold close to me for years to come…
Thank you to Wednesday Books, NetGalley, and Laura Steven for the e-arc of this book 🤍

💫Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven is a love story where two souls are born minutes apart from each other. They keep finding each other to just die.
Evelyn and Arden are destined to be together. However, it is only to die at eighteen. Throughout the centuries, that's how it has been. In the present life, though, Evelyn wants to live because she loves the family she is born to, and her family needs her. She needs to figure out how to live fast.💫
🥹I am still contemplating how I feel about this book. Did I like the premise of the story? Yes! The concept of reincarnation and meeting your soulmate through centuries really intrigued me. The author takes us through the important pieces of both the characters through centuries, which was interesting. The other thing that I really liked was the gender fluidity of the characters. Having said that, what I was waiting for was a 'it' moment or a big revelation that didn't land for me. I definitely would say, though, that I really liked the way these characters were portrayed throughout. I can't imagine the angst and pain their souls might have gone through over and over again.🥹
Thank you, St. Martin's Press and Wednesday Books for this book.

I think this is an intriguing concept, but a lackluster execution. I shouldn’t be bored while they’re trying to kill each other. I didn’t pick up on any recognizable chemistry either and the flashbacks should have helped to develop the plot and ultimately they felt like a distraction because we never truly get any motivation behind them. At least, from what I’ve read, but honestly I’m so bored with this I don’t even care if they make it or not.

I was unable to finish this as I am not the target audience for this book. I didn’t feel themes were explicitly marketed as expected. Thank you for the e-ARC!

Thank you to the publisher & Netgalley for the eARC!!
One of the most captivating books i've read in a minute. I was enthralled from the first few pages and stayed up all night to finish it because I just had to know how it ended! Truly heartbreakingly beautiful, to be fated to someone in every lifetime, but to it have it end tragically by the hand of your true love each time. I just loved everything about this book & the author's writing style, and I need everyone to read it at least once!!!
Such a beautiful love story and one I am going to remember for a long time.

This is one of those books that even after finish reading, that I just don’t know how I feel about it. On one hand, I really liked the writing and the format of current and then past lives. On the other, I felt it lacked some depth and emotion between the two main characters. Also the ending had me a little lost at first that I had to go back and reread it.
Overall, I think I liked it? But I don’t know if I could recommend it to a broad group of readers.

I honestly don’t know where to begin. I haven’t read something like this in so long. I agree with people saying if you liked The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, you’ll love this.
The writing style of this author is beautiful. Filled with vividly painted imagery, the writing would lend itself so well to a screen adaptation. The writing is tight and flows seamlessly between chapters weaving intricately through different times and places.
The characters, though they change appearance, gender and circumstance, are so clear and strong through the work. It took a handful of chapters to lock into that concept but once I did, I was surprisingly impressed.
I enjoyed peeling each layer back chapter by chapter to uncover the mystery of how Evelyn and Arden came to be in this situation. The choice of going further back each flashback chapter, getting closer and closer to the origin, was satisfying and so effective.
I am so thoroughly impressed and heart-wrenched after experiencing this book. This will have a special place on my shelf for many years to come.

This book begs the question, what if Stockholm syndrome, but in the multiverse, and make it yearning. And it does a dang good job of it. A couple fated to meet and subsequently kill each other in infinite lifetimes, what’s not to love? This book keeps you in suspense about the why of it all while providing rich enchanting snippets of historical fiction to set the scene. What truly stands out here, besides the incredible story, is the writing, and with a beautiful book of poetry interspersed throughout the text, I couldn’t help but highlight every other line of the ebook. There is a fair bit of murder and death in many different forms (although not graphically depicted) so possibly a trigger warning for that. I honestly think this book could be enjoyable for anyone. It appears to be marketed as YA because amorous scenes are depicted vaguely, but the writing is certainly advanced enough a reader of any age could enjoy. I’m sad I read possibly my favorite book of 2025 this early in the year, but so glad Laura Steven wrote it. Highly recommend.

4.5 / 5 ⭐
I loved this book, Arden and Evelyn have been finding each other in every lifetime and in each one are destined to kill each other before their eighteenth birthday. The premise was intriguing to me and I enjoyed the flashbacks to different time periods, the moment they recognize their soul counterparts in new people and the different ways they died each time. Tragic, fated mates, Evelyn so hopeful and Arden so sad in his quest to end their lives but never able to explain to her why. I really enjoyed their love stories. I both read and listened to this, Sofia Oxenham's narration was really good.
Favorite Quote: "I love you, and I have loved you, and I will love you."

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the flashbacks, the present timeline, and the ending. The major reveal took me by absolute shock. Such a unique premise to me and I loved it.

Thank you Netgalley and St Martins Press for this ARC!
What an absolutely beautifully written story. For almost 80% of it, I kept asking why? The why had me stuck in this book, unable to put it down. It was so beautiful and heartbreaking.
I loved how we got glimpses into the past lives to get a better idea of who these 2 characters were and how each life affected both of them. I love how the author created 2 opposite characters who orbited around each other. "If a hero is someone who will give up love to save the world, then a villain is the reverse. Someone who will give up the world to save love."
While this book was out of my normal genre, I devoured it and enjoyed it. It was hard to put down because I had to know. The grand reveal, however, was a little lacking but I still loved what happened. And the ending was beautiful and perfect.

Evelyn and Arden - i will be thinking about you for a loooong time. I really enjoyed this book and will be recommending this to my friends and family. They yearned for each other and thats beautiful
