I was initially drawn to this story because of the comparisons to Addie LaRue, which I loved. And while Our Infinite Fates had some similarities, it did not live up to that high expectation. It felt much more juvenile, as in line with a YA book.

The premise sounds like everything I want: two soulmates destined to kill each other in every lifetime. And it was interesting seeing the flashbacks, but I found myself caring about little. There were some great flashbacks, where I felt we got to see this great love of theirs. But then there were ones that felt meaningless, too short, and repetitive. I also cared little for the main timeline.

I loved the diversity of love we are shown in this and the inclusion of gender fluidity. Again, I just found myself wishing that we got to see more of the buildup to these past lives because I would have felt more connected to their love story.

The ending was rushed, as well. I think this needed some serious editing and reevaluation of all the various past lives. Either extend the book or cut things out to allow space for the necessary pacing. The plot twist was interesting, I will say, and I didn’t see it coming. Again, though, the execution of that last bit was done poorly and could have used some more time to develop.

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy!

Such a beautiful poetic journey. I can’t say too much or I’ll give it all away.
I enjoyed the journey through history and the “dual” timeline telling of their love story.

I am DNFing early, around 8%. The style of writing is not working for me, and I know my tastes well enough to not want to continue. It’s not bad! Just not for me at this time.

I am so sad that I did not like this book more than I did. I was very excited as the premise sounds amazing but unfortunately the execution fell very flat for me.

The author clearly put a lot of thought and research into this book. Her writing was great! Unfortunately the set up and the characters are where it lost me. There also seemed to be several very minor plot holes.

Soulmates that are destined to kill each other in every lifetime is so interesting, and the author did a great job of capturing the attention of the reader. Where I feel it went wrong is that it became very repetitive and I increasingly lost interest. I felt very disconnected from the main characters and the miscommunication trope was very poorly done in my opinion. The plot twist of the book I found very interesting, but felt it was very rushed and didn't feel connected to the rest of the story. It felt like we were suddenly thrown into a completely different story.

I was way more tied into the FMC's storyline than her storyline with the MMC.

I can definitely see why a lot of people will like this one, it unfortunately just wasn't for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc of Our Infinite Fates. This book was full of so much beauty and tragedy. The writing and the way author can put feelings into words, describe aspects of love and grief were so profound. This was a 5 star book for me until the reveal toward the end. It caught me off guard, which I suppose is the point but, it also somehow felt disconnected from the story. I almost felt the portion of the book before the reveal was a separate book of magical realism from the portion after which felt more full paranormal fantasy. It somehow didn’t flow into one another well for me personally. Overall, I loved this story and am invested in reading more by Laura Steven!

I liked the premise of this story and the mystery surrounding the infinite lifetimes the main characters endured. The twist was interesting, though the execution of it at the end of the book seemed rush and not well thought. The book left me with some unanswered questions but overall was an enjoyable read.

Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven is a mesmerizing blend of reincarnation, mystery, and fate-driven romance. Evelyn has lived countless lives, and in every single one, she’s been murdered before her eighteenth birthday—always by Arden, a supernatural being bound to her in a cycle of death and rebirth. But this time, Evelyn refuses to go quietly. With her sister’s life depending on her, she’s determined to break the curse once and for all.

Steven crafts a gripping narrative filled with tension, dark twists, and emotional stakes that keep the pages turning. Evelyn’s resilience and sharp wit make her a compelling protagonist, while Arden’s morally complex nature adds depth to the cat-and-mouse dynamic. The reincarnation premise is executed brilliantly, weaving together past and present in a way that feels fresh and immersive.

While the romance leans into familiar tropes, it never overshadows the high-stakes mystery at the heart of the story. If you love supernatural thrillers with a touch of doomed love, Our Infinite Fates is a must-read!

“The cruelest fate the gods and stars had ever written: the person I loved most in the world was the person who would ultimately destroy me.”

You do not want to sleep on this book🤩 I had no idea what to expect going in and I couldn’t put this down! Probably one of the best books I’ve ever read😍 The suspense, the tension, the passion - it can’t be matched. Laura Steven has a way with words that had me melting. A piece of my heart is now Our Infinite Fates-shaped and I’m not even mad about it 🥹

This book has a dual timeline, an element of mystery, devils and reincarnation, immortal souls, history, poetry, 🔪☠️, and forbidden love. The writing is beautiful; the yearning from the characters - for each other, for a different life, for happiness - is heartbreaking and raw; the story is so powerful and unique🤭

I had very high hopes for this book given the hype I’ve already seen around it plus the comparison to Addie LaRue and This Is How You Lose the Time War, but it unfortunately fell flat for me personally.

I was drawn in by the premise of this book. Soulmates forced to kill each other again and again and again. Give me the tragedy, give me the angst, give me the feels. Unfortunately, I really just didn’t feel attached to the characters at all. They felt surface level and the miscommunication trope drove me insane.

The writing was beautiful throughout though and the addition of poetry was enjoyable. I also loved the idea of reincarnation that was explored throughout this book.

I think I would have enjoyed this book more as a novella or a short story. There were places where it felt very repetitive, dragged out, or became a bit predictable. The last 15% kind of was a let down and some things felt out of place or like they should have been in a different order. I think it would have hit me harder if I had really attached to the characters and their journey.

Overall, there were bits and pieces of this book I liked, but I don’t think I’m the target audience for this one.

If I could give this book 6 stars I would. The writing is so poetic and beautiful and I highlighted so many quotes as I was reading it. The plot is truly heartbreaking and also so unique, I found myself thinking about this book all throughout my days while reading it and afterwards. If you love Addie Larue, I think you will love this one too. But even if you didn’t or you haven’t read it, please give this book a chance.

4.5 - I have been hearing SO MUCH about this book since people started getting early copies and I had my expectations high. I was not let down, this was such a beautifully written, poetic, heartbreaking story. I love the concept of soulmates and being tied together and reincarnating together in every life. The writing in this book was GORGEOUS and so poignant. Just really timeless writing, this is a story that I think will speak to many people.

Our Infinite Fates follows Evelyn and Arden, two souls who reincarnate together in every new life, fall in love, and then have to kill each other before they turn 18. They have never been able to make it past 18 without dying. Evelyn has no clue why they are forced to live with this curse and Arden has information that he refuses to give up. The book follows them throughout the centuries, living in different places, with different families. They always find each other, in new bodies and with new personalities, but fall hopelessly in love every time. Evelyn is determined to find a way to live past 18 to be able to save her sister and stay with her family.

This is a book of love that conquers and survives all, desperate choices, mystery, and curses borne from undying love. I cannot give enough credit to the author for her beautiful writing and how deeply it made me feel. I really connected with the characters, especially Evelyn's empathetic and caring soul, wanting to help others and get to live with the people she loves. It did definitely remind me of Addie LaRue. Just a beautifully heartbreaking book that I highly recommend if you like romantasy!!

OUR INFINITE FATES

⭐️⭐️💫

Ugh, I hate when I have such mixed feelings about a book.

Things I liked:
•the tie between fantasy and historical fiction
•the message that love and hope can surmount pain and suffering
•beautiful poetry
•there were enough cliffhangers to keep me interested in the mystery til the end

Things I disliked:
•there was a lot of repetition
•things started to drag on in the last half
•I never felt connected to the love story as the flashback chapters didn’t necessarily contribute to the back story to show why the MCs loved each other. They were more just showing that they lived in a different time period and eventually found each other in the new life.

Honestly, I probably would have stopped reading if it hadn’t been an ARC. It was missing that unputdownable feeling I love in a book.

I love you, I have loved you, and I will love you.
From the description I was so excited for this book as I loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue - safe to say this book was amazing. I thought the writing a pacing of the story worked really well and I just loved the characters so so much.
I like pretty books, but don’t typically collect multiple copies… however this is one that I might need infinite copies of.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for providing me an electronic advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

4.5/5 rounded up to 5. I loved this beautifully written love story! I enjoyed the descriptive imagery the author used to showcase each lifetime between these fated characters. There was so much love and depth between both main characters that evolved throughout the story. I do wish we knew the ‘twist’ a little earlier so there was more action before it wrapped up at the end. Overall, I could not put this book down and would highly recommend it to those who love love & some magical realism!

‘Maybe that’s all love is, in the end. An endless tempting of fate.’

ARC Review

Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven is an engaging and complex fantasy novel that takes readers on an exciting journey through a world of twists and turns. The world-building and character development are impressive, and Steven’s prose is vivid and immersive, making it easy to get lost in the story.

However, one issue I had was with the back-and-forth between characters and the constant introduction of new names. At times, it felt a little confusing to keep track of who was who, especially with characters often switching identities or using different names. While this was likely a deliberate choice to keep readers on their toes, it did make the flow of the story a bit harder to follow in certain sections.

Overall, Our Infinite Fates is an excellent read for fantasy fans, but be prepared to pay close attention to the characters and their shifting roles throughout the book. Despite the occasional confusion, the plot and world-building are well worth the effort!

This was beautifully written. Such an engaging haunting read.

Our Infinite Fates is a love story and tragedy through time, following Evelyn and Arden. Arden finds her in every life and they end up killing each other before their eighteenth birthday every single time. The main questions for Evelyn are why are they stuck in this endless cycle and how do they break free.

The writing was beautiful and immersive, I was immediately drawn into the story. I felt the love, the anxiety, the angst, and the frustration of these two characters. I loved reading about their past lives and I wish we got to spend even more time with them in those lives.

I initially thought this was going to be a 5⭐️ read but the ending didn’t quite work for me. When everything is revealed, it feels a bit rushed and the explanation wasn’t quite satisfying for me.

Still, this was a stunning book that explores love, loss, and life with gorgeous prose, vivid descriptions, and an achingly beautiful love story.

Thank you for the ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately I couldn't get into this title. Cover is beautiful Not sure if it's the writing style, or the story itself but it just wasn't engaging enough for me to get pulled in. I'm sure there are many readers who would enjoy this novel, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I also just finished a book that felt somewhat similar so again, it's a personal issue that kept me from fully engaging in this book. Thank you again for the opportunity to gain insight into this writer's work!

In Our Infinite Fates, Evelyn and Arden are destined to find each other and fall in love in every life. Evelyn remembers each of these past lives - as well as the fact that they always end up killing each other on her 18th birthday. Reincarnated as Branwen Blythe in 2022, Evelyn is determined to survive. Her sister’s life depends on a bone marrow transplant scheduled just days after Evelyn’s 18th birthday.

We are transported to Evelyn and Arden’s past lives, from the frontlines of WWI France to the Ottoman Empire to the Song Dynasty in 1042 China, unraveling the mystery of their unbreakable bond. The flashbacks to past lives develop their relationship, while the present day timeline drives the suspense as Evelyn tries to uncover why Arden wants her dead. Laura Steven’s writing was gorgeous and read like poetry at times. I was so immersed in this story that I didn’t see the reveal coming and I found myself never wanting this story to end!

“I want you to know that wherever we are next, my heart will be with you. It might not know it’s with you, but hearts have their ways. Every atrium, every ventricle, every vein and artery will beat for you. Even if my mind has lost you. Because you are in the very fabric of me, all right? You are me, and I am you. And our love is stronger than anything.” ⋆₊˚⊹ ࿔⋆

Thank you so much NetGalley, St. Martins Press, and Wednesday Books for an arc in exchange for an honest review!

I’m torn on my rating, but I think it’s landing at 3.5 stars for me. I truly think people will love this story! It’s unique with an interesting plot, characters are diverse and complex, there are twists I wasn’t expecting, and the romance is full of yearning. Our main characters fall in love with each other in every lifetime yet are destined to kill each other too.

I loved how we get flashbacks of moments from various timelines to see our main characters live their lives as the people they’re reincarnated because they are each so different with different personalities, lives, and historical events and experiences. I think it’s a perfect way to round out the story but something about this book towards the end started to fall off. I’m not sure if it’s how the events played out, or if I feel we didn’t get enough time in other lives to truly see the magnitude of their relationship and romance.

The writing was really beautiful at times and the premise was so interesting, but for me personally, I don’t think I’ll see myself think about this one much, especially since I kind of stopped gravitating towards picking it up, but I do think there are people who will really enjoy it!
