“I love you, and I have loved you, and I will love you.”

They’ve loved each other in a thousand lifetimes. They’ve killed each other in every one. Our Infinite Fates is honestly a good story to go into blind. Would be a good film, tbh! The places you go in it.

Something felt off about the writing/how the story was flushed out for me. I know this is YA, but it was surprising how some of the prose felt so beautiful, only to then shift to more forced phrasing and dialogue. I’m sorry!!! I too hate being disappointed lol. It seemed like the writing was trying too hard to be poetic at times, then would switch to something very simple and matter of fact. One of the highlights for me were the past storylines, the historical research and the moments in history and where we went across the globe and time. This book leans more into magical realism in the present day and shifts to historical fiction in the past, rather than traditional fantasy.

The love story, too, didn’t quite hit for me. I’m so sad to say this! The plot mainly focused on past lives and the setting, but it didn’t spend enough time on why their love transcended lifetimes for Arden and Evelyn. The concept of love that spans across time is so beautiful, but it felt like something was missing in terms of emotional depth for them. Concept of this story was amazing, but the execution (????)

I did take away so many beautiful quotes from this book when it did hit. I really loved how Evelyn cared for her present life and sister, and how Arden and Evelyn’s bond was portrayed. “Except with you. When you’re happy, I’m happy. And when you hurt, I hurt.”

Such a unique concept for a book and I absolutely loved it. Beautifully written - I was captivated from the very beginning. A must read book for the year!

"They've loved each other in a thousand lifetimes. They've killed each other in every one." I was immediately intrigued by the tagline for Our Infinite Fates. The comparisons to This Is How You Lose The Time War and The Invisible Life of Addie Larue were even more promising. However, this book ended up being a huge disappointment. Though the premise showed potential, the story was frustratingly simple and the characters were one-dimensional and irritating.

Our Infinite Fates completely fails to live up to any of those comp titles. I don't understand how you can compare something to This Is How You Lose The Time War and have it be the most boring approach to a reincarnation story I have ever read. Our Infinite Fates is far too rooted in its present timeline to pull off the concept it is trying to execute. All we get from the reincarnation side of the story are repetitive flashback chapters that show the same moments over and over again. There is no time spent adding depth to the characters, establishing their unique nature as ancient, timeless beings, or even properly establishing the relationship. We are told repeatedly that these characters are supposed to be in love and yet the book never shows us this love. I don't believe that these two have ever been in love, in any timeline.

I didn't like the characters. I didn't find them compelling. The flashback chapters do nothing to give them any depth or substance. Evelyn's entire character comes down to the fact that she's "too nice." That's it. That's her character. Her inner dialogue gave me major "not like other girls/old soul" vibes. I don't care if she is literally an "old soul," her reflections on society, time, technology etc. were cringe and shallow. Arden is... mysterious? An asshole? These characters are so immature and childish. I don't care if they never get to live past 18, they have lived hundreds of 18-year lifetimes they should not be behaving the way that they do.

Another major component of the book is the mystery behind Evelyn and Arden's reincarnation and the fact that they can't live past 18 years old. I was expecting more of an "inescapable cycle of fate" storyline rather than a one-sided mystery where the person in the know can't possibly tell the truth (until it's plot-relevant). I think there is a way to do the "cat and mouse" dynamic with this story well. But we needed more time in the different lifetimes to establish them as their own plot points instead of substanceless flashback chapters. There is no tension to the mystery, no effort to slowly build to a reveal or to add suspense and foreshadowing for the reader. We just get the same argument between Evelyn and Arden that goes nowhere until the book decides to finally drop the big reveal at the end.

I pushed through until the end of this book because I was curious to see if the reveal behind the reincarnation would make up for the lackluster story. And it was not worth it. The reveal was honestly ridiculous. It was so disconnected from the story that it was impossible to take any of the end events seriously. It was anticlimactic and filled with plot holes and I just didn't like it as an ending. There is one single detail of the ending that I think was clever but that is the only good thing I can say about it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday for this ARC.

I'm torn on this book. It had so much potential in so many ways, however it ultimately didn't live up to everything it was labeled as for me personally.
I'm a huge fan of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, and I agree that if you like that book you'll enjoy this, but Addie LaRue is much better in my opinion.

What I liked:
- poetic whimsical writing elements
- magical realism
- historical settings
- "dual" timeline (in a sense)
- narration of the audiobook was done extremely well

Disliked:
- repetitive writing style
- the "epic" love story/romantic pull felt more more told vs shown
- the genders constantly changing in every timeline (felt hard to keep track of at times and made it difficult to feel invested in the romance element) I liked the concept of "souls loving each other regardless of bodily form" I just wish it had been executed a bit differently
- the ending felt rushed, chaotic, and unexpected in a negative way

I had such high hopes for this book and again it held lots of potential. It was polarizing to read; loved many elements and strongly disliked many others, which is what landed it on this rating for me personally.

THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING, oh my god!!!

I can’t believe it was almost 400 pages long because I absolutely flew through it. Every single word was delicious and beautiful; the prose was stunning; the pages were practically turning themselves. And Arden and Evelyn were gut wrenchingly perfect.

This must have been how it felt to read Romeo and Juliet in Shakespearean times… Because these star crossed lovers absolutely broke my heart and put it back together again.

This has easily become my favorite read of 2025 so far, and it will be hard to top. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. I’m literally obsessed. This story will live in my head for the rest of time. 🩷🥹

Thank you @netgalley for the gifted eARC!

If I could give this infinity stars, I would. This is one of the most beautiful and unique stories I have ever read. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at once, and the author’s writing was truly poetic and made me feel so deeply for these two characters. I even ordered a physical copy after only a few chapters because I knew this story was going to be that special.

Our Infinite Fates is out now and I hope all my book friends get to experience this beautiful, brain chemistry-altering love story.

I was completely shocked at this book!!! There was a major twist that I was absolutely not expecting and that made this book an even bigger rollercoaster. We follow Evelyn and Arden and their crazy love story which involved so many effects for everyone that they knew. Along with this, it was crazy to see how eventually Gracie did get what she needed and how everything unfolded.

In my own opinion, it was a bit challenging for me to understand what exactly was happening to Arden and Evelyn when they would flashback and for that reason, that kind of threw me off. It also felt like we did not get much of their love story, and how they fell for each other, we just happened to pick up at a point in the story where all of this was occurring but not necessarily from the start, which did not make me too attached t the characters,

I did like the premise of the story, it was just not at all what I was expecting to find out. And I was surprised with the twist at the end, and how everything unfolded, as stated earlier, but I feel like it did not really get me too excited.

3.5 stars, thank you to NetGalley, Laura Steven and Wednesday Books for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This book is pure magic. I couldn't put it down. “I love you, I have loved you, and I will love you.” This quote pretty much says it all. This book is perfect!

I have been in the worst reading slump for months and decided to pick this up after a few friends mentioned it and I received an arc from NetGalley and I loved it so much. The way you were trying to figure out what is happening while weaving between present day and past lives kept me wanting even more but also I was screaming at the yearning and ate it alllll up. I could have read this book forever.

This is my first read of this author and enjoyed it so much, I am definitely picking up another by her.

DNF

This was unfortunately a DNF for me. I made it about 40% in, but unfortunately I had to put it down because I didn't see it getting my attention at all.

While I was intrigued by the premise, I think that's really where the problem with this story lies. "Soulmates who kill each other in every lifetime" has a nice ring to it, but there aren't many directions for the story to go. You know exactly what is going to happen in every flashback, so it feels too repetitive. And because the characters already have a relationship that's been established over centuries and they themselves have lived through all these different lives, there is no growth to be had there either. I think maybe this would have worked better as a short story honestly.

My other problem with this book is that I felt like it fell into the "self help fiction" category a little too much. There are a lot of big messages here -- and some finger wagging about the perils of social media which I found a little odd.

I truly do think the problem is just with the premise itself, so I am still interested in picking up this author's next book to see how it compares.

I only made it through ten percent of this ebook before I ordered hard copy to love and annotate. This was one of those stories I had to give five stars to even with a few things that drove me crazy, because there was so much to savor in it, and it utterly distracted me from the outside world while I was reading.

Evelyn and Arden are two souls who reincarnate repeatedly over centuries, always close to each other and at near the same time. In each lifetime they love each other deeply, and in each they kill each other. They are tethered together; one cannot survive without the other, and they must die before they reach the age of eighteen in each lifetime. Here is the kicker: Arden knows why he must kill Evelyn but she has no idea and begs him in vain over and over.

The story takes place in multiple timelines, alternating between present day Wales and several of their previous lives together. Each lifetime occurs in a lushly detailed setting with often dramatic circumstances. The two characters don't have fixed genders; they reincarnate in various combinations without changing any of their feelings for each other.

All of this was so well done and beautifully-written, such an entertaining read. It made me crazy to wait so long to find out why they needed to die, and the PLOT TWIST, oh my goodness. I'm looking forward to re-reading this one with hard copy to annotate!

Thank you so much to Wednesday Books and Netgalley for this book!

From the moment I first heard about this book, it immediately became one of my most anticipated new releases. I will read anything that gets compared to The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.

So how did it compare?

In Our Infinite Fates, two souls are reincarnated over and over. They are drawn to each other in each life, often falling in love, until one must kill the other before they turn 18. The reasons for that unfold over the course of the book.

I absolutely loved the way the story is told. Starting way in the past, and then jumping between "current" time and past lives. Each past life we read about goes further and further back in time, and in cultures all over the world. That non-linear timeline really worked for me and I loved it.

Other things that worked for me: the writing is lovely. The audiobook was very well done. The story is compelling and I had a hard time setting it down! I also had an eARC and I ended up staying up late and reading a lot of it.

Things that didn't work as well for me: The ending/resolution was a little muddy and simplistic, and I wish it had been fleshed out a bit more. (The reveal was good though.)

Content Warnings: Both souls are reincarnated as either male or female, so in some lives we get M/M or F/F romance. I know some readers will want to know that before starting. Intimacy scenes are fade to black. Also, there is some strong language including F-bombs, and mildly graphic violence. This is being marketed as YA (it's even the Barnes and Noble YA book club choice) but I would consider this more of a New Adult or very upper teen read.

Overall the comparison to Addie LaRue is a valid one, and I gave Our Infinite Fates a solid 4⭐! Definitely worth reading if you like fated pairings and non-linear timelines! 🩵

This was such a great read! I loved the premise of this book and the story was engaging from start to end! I did not want to put this one down! I loved the characters and the mystery of trying to figure out what is happening! I love a past lives plot line and this book did it really well, with lots of intresting lives and something being learned from each one. I did struggle a bit with switching between past lives since I wasn’t always sure which character was which but overall a great read that I definitely recommend checking out!!!!

4.25 out of 5 stars!

An absolutely stunning premise with equally stunning execution. I was instantly drawn to this book by the blurb. Two soulmates eternally bound to each other. But in every lifetime, they kill each other. Despite the other worldly premise, this book also felt incredibly grounded in the main present day story. Evelyn’s love for her sister in her current life is another beautiful love story within this book.

I was really excited about this book since I first heard about it and it exceeded my expectations by 100%! It's the most poetic book I've read. The language, descriptions, and style are so smooth, beautiful, and captivating. I wanted to take lines from every paragraph and quote them because it's full of the spirit of poetry.
I loved how the author focused on the soul and dedicated the book to its beauty rather than physical appearance. No matter how our characters Evelyn and Arden looked like or what their gender was, their souls would find the way to each other as one can't exist without another.
Also, I noticed how the author thoroughly studied different eras in many countries and the chapters from the past felt very realistic because they were filled with small details.
For me, the book was well balanced and everything was enough. I can recommend it to all lovers of The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue, poetry romance books and hopeless romantics who believes in love no matter what.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Wednesday Books for providing me with an eARC of this book.

Truly a "it's you and me in every lifetime" kind of love. This book was beautiful and lyrical! You get immersed into the story on page one and hope it would never end!

Wow wow I am NOT usually a YA girl but this story read more new adult and I was consumed. Laura Steven wove such a beautiful story between these star crossed lovers. I never wanted it to end. I was confused with their love story and how it was all woven together. I wish I could go back and read it again for the first time.

Laura Steven's "Our Infinite Fates" is a captivating and heart-wrenching young adult novel that weaves themes of destiny, love, and–in a nutshell–the complexities of human existence. The plot is very addictive and made it hard for me to put the book down and continue with my daily life.
Steven's writing is lyrical yet profound, capturing the protagonists' intense emotions. The narrative is full of layers that intertwine to give the story complexity.
The only things I didn't love were that the story's pacing was uneven at times and that, in some cases, the curse's mechanics felt too conveniently aligned with the narrative needs.
Aside from these details, I really enjoyed this novel. I think it handles more complex ideas than those typically addressed in YA fantasies very well, and I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

My love for this book is infinite. What a beautiful, beautiful story of love, loss, and magic. Steven’s has crafted something so unique. I could not put it down. Evelyn and Ardan were perfect. The way this book was formatted was incredibly well thought out and I enjoyed every second of it. Learning the history of our characters while simultaneously facing modern day with them kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not have guessed where the end was going and it was so well done. Truly an amazing book that everyone should read! Wow wow wow. I will sing my praises for this book from the rooftops. I’m in awe.

I love the lapses in time, it was written so well that it felt like I too had been in all these different periods of time! Definitely a well written and thought out book, and I loved every minute of it!
