I Love mail order brides, and I Love Tracie Peterson books so I knew this one was going to be awesome! And I was especially honored to review this, Ms. Peterson’s 100 book! Wow, what an accomplishment. I haven’t read them all but I plan too! Marty and Jake had an arranged marriage of convenience and the arrangement was mutual. But Marty had no idea the her life would change so drastically. With Jake being a bank manager, he had to keep a high profile, so it was a team of paid employees in the house and a personal maid to do things Marty was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. I really enjoyed each of these characters. the butler and the housekeeper kept me laughing throughout the book, and Alice and Marty had a special relationship. And Marty and Jake was just friends of course, or were they? They seemed to be enjoying all of the time they were spending together. But there were secrets, and when those secrets were revealed, what would happen then?
This entire book was so very enjoyable. Ms. Peterson is one of the best in storytelling, and it shows in this book. Oh and I didn’t mention the historical setting and the vivid descriptions of each scene, adding more pleasure to the book. This is a must read if you enjoy historical fiction. You surely do not want to miss this one.
