This is the third installment of the series Scots and Scoundrels. I have read and enjoyed the previous two books and this one also did not disappoint. This is a delightful second chance story. When she was younger, Celia was forced to marry a much older earl to save her family from debt. At the time, she chose duty to her family over love. But to Christopher it appeared she chose mo ey over him. Now that she is widowed and free, she can do what she pleases, and what she wants is to enjoy the night at a masquerade ball with a handsome stranger. Only afterwards does she find out that the handsome stranger was none other than her brother's best friend Christopher. The man who betrayed her when she needed him to save her from the worst possible fate. There is no doubt an intense attraction between them, but Celia cannot forget how he let her down. Christopher wants nothing more than to marry Cecilia now that he has the means to do so and can't understand why she keeps refusing him, until he learns the truth.
Misunderstandings and misconceptions kept these two apart and they must overcome the challenges to get past them. But not without a bit of excitement and danger first!
Christopher and Cecelia had great chemistry and I enjoyed seeing their growth as they grew closer. This was a sweet and entertaining addition to the series!
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing and am voluntarily leaving my review.
A widow decides to take a lover. At a masquerade she meets a man who fulfills her every desire. Soon they recognize each other. He's her brother's best friend. The one she sees everyday, but she only wants lovers not marriage. He's been in love with her for several years. A passionate love affair continues until he wants a wife not just a lover. A misunderstanding in the past prevents the woman he wants. Heartbreak and a woman blind to love. Very descriptive sex.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
I received an ARC for my thoughts.
New to me author and I'm eagerly anticipating the rest of the series. This is a quick and fun Regency read that has just enough steam, banter, etc. to entertain the reader.
I love a story where the hero knows he loves our heroine but I had a little trouble warming to Celia. Kit is an old friend of her brothers so a fixture in their home over the years and their friendship is solidly based on years of teasing and laughter. There is a bit of history due to Celia’s father forcing her to marry and a secret that takes too long to be revealed. I enjoyed the characters interactions with each other but felt irritated that she was so firmly fixed on her plan to be ‘free’. Twist at the end was fun with an additional happy ending for a couple of friends but even it was rushed after our lead characters HEA took forever.
I liked that this regency set novel had a unique plotline. I also love reading about widows who had more freedom back then, rather than debutantes.
I love regency smut, but I likely would have passed by this book based on the cover. I'm not a fan of real people/photographed covers, they kind of turn me off, but I'm glad I read it.
The MMC is so kind, and also partly Scottish which is hot. He was blonde, but I looked past that. The first half of the book has some spicy scenes, but I feel like it could have ended with another to balance it out.
I liked that both the MMC and FMC were clear communicators about what they wanted and the virgin trope didn't bother me because it worked with the story.
I enjoyed the book even though it could have been spicier and the end felt a bit drawn out. I will likely read the other books in the series still.

I loved Celia and Kit and the entire premise of this book. I was absolutely delighted that the Great Misunderstanding was resolved pretty quickly and they got to fall in love way before the ending of the book. But I became annoyed at Celia when she didn't come around to realize that Kit's The One and kept refusing him, when these two people are SO PERFECT for each other. I'm glad everyone came to their senses and it all worked out because they were soul mates from the very beginning.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
After the masquerade Kit and Celia start the friends-with-benefits arrangement since she is a widow and has all the freedom. After a while, they decide to choose each other's partner as Celia wants a lover and Kit wants a wife. Of course, they realize they can't be with other people and only want each other.
My main issue with this book is Celia's whining to have freedom and not want to marry again even though Kit constantly proposes and assures her she will have all that in a marriage with him. A huge problem here is also miscommunication as they were both hurt in the past but they did not share that now even though they are always in each other's bed.
3 stars.
ARC Rating 4.5/5 ⭐️ This was such a great read. Finished it all in one sitting, could not put it down. And I cried a little at the end.
I've not read the first two books, but this is the third in a stand-alone series. I enjoyed this so much that I'll have to go back and read the others.
This is a regency, brothers-best-friend, friends-to-lover, second-chance romance. And had a bit of a miscommunication trope.
I enjoyed both characters and their growth and personal challenges and developments. This was an easy, quick, and sweet read and would recommend it.
Thank you, NetGalley, Dragonblade Publishing, and Allison B. Hanson, for sending this eARC for review. All opinions are my own.
I won't lie, I chortled at the breakfast scene where Kit realized. I thought we might have to wait the length of the book for them to figure it out and was pleasantly surprised when we didn't! Another funny and passionate book by Allison!
Third in the Scots and Scoundrels series by Allison B. Hanson, this can be read as a standalone. The Marquess of Penbrook is deep in debt and his last option is to marry off his daughter, Lady Celia, to the elderly Earl of Hamlin. Using her younger brother, Graham, as messenger, Lady Celia reaches out to Christopher "Kit" Sinclair, Viscount of Stormont. Graham and Kit are close friends and one of the few men Celia knows. As luck would have it, Kit is in similar straits as Celia's father. Kit needs to marry money, or so Graham tells Celia.
Three years later, Celia is a wealthy widow looking for lover. When she attends a masquerade, she finds what she's looking for, but only for one night. Now she's determined to stay unmarried but isn't willing to give up sensual pleasures. Kit will do until she finds the perfect lover. And Celia will do for Kit while he searches for the perfect wife. Feelings develop between Kit and Celia even as they try to help each other find a match. Sadly, Celia hasn't heard the last from her late husband's family.
This book needed a closer edit as "dual" and "duel" are used interchangeably. There are also a few continuity issues where Celia's and Graham's birth order is changed. Overall, this is an entertaining read and I'll likely go back to read the first two books.
I received a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
Brother’s best friend and miscommunication tropes ? Not my favourite tropes at all but I really enjoyed this story ! It was fiun and sweet although I do wish they had just talked about things a bit earlier 🤦♀️!
Celia wants a second chance at life that doesn't include another husband. Kit is ready to settle down and marry. He is ready for the life that is expected of him as a Viscount. When our couple discovers the love they have for each other, will they change their minds about their future plans? Or will the past slights they feel the other did to them stop the romance before it gets started?
A quick, easy and fun read, Tempting Her Viscount has all the making of a great romance. Although part of a series, this book can easily be read as a stand alone.
This historical romance is a second chance one. Our heroine doesn't want to marry again but she does want a lover. Our hero is ready to settle down and start his own family, that means a wife .
This is part of a series about a group of friends. Each has his own storyline, but you will meet them in each other's book. All are rather naughty and that's why we love them. Plenty of scandalous fun to be had.
Great fun.
An unusual plot filled with lots of steam, humor and aah moments. Celia is a widow who now wants to experience the freedom her brother has. Kit is a young man who is ready to marry and he wants Celia. Added to the mix is Celia's brother who adds subtle humor with his reactions to both Celia and his friend, Kit. While it was a very engaging story, I found it a bit longer and in some places more repetitive than necessary. I still fully enjoyed the story and the skills of this author. Part of a series but can easily be a stand alone. Hoping Graham gets his own story.

Celia Dorsett Is being forced to marry an Earl who is an old ancient man in his 70’s all because her father is in dire straits and needs financial help. Now she is a widow and ready to celebrate her freedom and take a lover at a masquerade for the demimonde. Except she is shocked that Lord Desire is none other than the man who betrayed her in the worst way all those years ago: her brother’s best friend Christopher (Kit) Sinclair, Viscount Stormont.
Kit still carried the hurt and rejection when Celia chose money over him when he had nothing. Now he is financially secure and wants a wife and family. The problem is the woman he desires thinks he has betrayed her and she has no desire to marry again and enjoy her freedom.
Can Kit and Celia resolve their past scars and discover love? Read and discover their fate.
Allison pens another brilliant that readers do not want to miss! This can be read as a stand alone book. A book about second chances which I highly recommend
Celia Dorsett was forced into an arranged marriage with a 72 year old, so that her father’s debts could be paid. Now four years on she’s a widow & ready to embrace her freedom, and take a lover. A masquerade with the demimonde sounds like the perfect way to find a companion for the evening without revealing her identity. But days after the most perfect evening of her life, she comes to realize her Lord Desire is none other than Christopher Sinclair, Viscount Stormont, her younger brother’s best friend. The man who sits with her at the breakfast table nearly every morning making her laugh.
The third book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. I liked both Kit & Celia & loved the chemistry between them but lack of communication & a weak willed character who kept a secret nearly forced them apart. I thought her husband’s grandson challenging her inheritance whilst different could have been made more of. I enjoyed their journey to a HEA & look forward to Gray’s story
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
To me this book is summed up in one word, adequate. I did like Kit and Cecilia as a couple, but the overall plot was just ok. The scheme involving Cecilia’s deceased husband’s heir did not provide the tension that I think the author was going for.
I felt like more could have been done with the premise.
I found this sizzling romance entertaining, as the widow Celia navigates society once again with a view to fulfilling her own needs without the benefits of marriage. Her brother's best friend, Kit, let her down when she needed him most and in spite of the attraction between them, Celia is unwilling to let go of the offense that she experienced when she was rejected by him. Kit, on the other hand, has no idea why she keeps refusing him when he offers marriage, and it is only when the truth is revealed that he finally understands her reasoning. In the meantime, there is a threat hanging over Celia's head, one that would cause untold embarrassment, but when it matters most, she finds she has true friends in her corner. I loved both Cecelia and Kit and felt the angst they both experienced, and was therefore really happy when they could eventually set the past aside. I received a copy of this novel as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I’m not usually one for historical romances but this one was quite enjoyable! I really loved the main characters fight for independence as well as the love aspect of her new suitor. Highly entertaining and perfect if you’re a fan of shows like Brigerton this is one historical romance you won’t want to miss. I’m so happy it’s part of a series and I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on further editions and they say don’t judge a boo by it’s cover, but something needs to be said for the gorgeous cover of this book, let’s just say the book is as good and beautiful as it’s cover!
I read a lot of historical romances and most of the time books are pretty much the same, so I forget about them quickly. But this one was different and I liked it. Kit and Celia have a special bond, they've known each other for years, and they just needed some time to figure their relationship out. I was a little annoyed by Celia but in the end, they got their happy ending. There is some drama along the way, but nothing too serious, so it's a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me. Looking forward to reading more books by A. B. Hanson.
