Secrets, Confessions, Heartfelt Romance:
A terrible situation for Celia starts this deeply emotional love story with much sadness and frustration. Her abusive father if forcing her to marry and older man and she is quite desperate to try to get out of her father's insistence to marry the old duke
We now follow the widow Cecelia and her journey to finding what life can offer her and the freedom to do as she pleases.
She enlists the help of her brother's best friend Kit, and a new adventure takes hold for both of them.
An interesting, passionate love story filled with anxiety, insecurity. hidden desires, imperfection, and underlying love that needs to come forth, so we get our happy ending we certainly want.
🤔A good solid story with interesting characters where Celia and her plans of freedom and what she wanted from it got to be a little overdone and repetitive for me.
🦾Kit was my favorite character. Even being a bit younger he had more sense charisma, and Integrity.
😞The ending and epilogue were so so and a bit rushed.
💋Mature Advisory.🌶🌶🌶
⭐Rating of book 4.3 out of 5
❓Would love to read a story about Gray the brother. He was kind of left hanging at the end.
This story takes us on an emotional ride with a whole lotta heat and a little suspense as the characters draw you in and have you invested in their happy ever after.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have not read this author before and this is the third in the series that can be read as a standalone. The story has a short intro about how Celia is forced into a marriage with a 70-year-old man by her father who is in desperate financial straits. She asks her brother to deliver a message to a younger friend of theirs to rescue her by marrying her. Celia also has a birthmark on her face which her father has been very cruel about mentioning. The friend refused to marry her (something seems fishy here). Four years go by, and Celia is a rich widow. There is a scheming grandson of her husband who mentions that he wants her widow's portion back. A romance between Kit (yes, the friend who refused her) with a very strong attraction between the pair that leads to some very sexy bedroom scenes. I rate this 3.25* as a lot of the book Celia was angry at Kit for not marrying her when she needed him. I thought it was a stretch expecting that of a younger friend (not a suitor). This has a modern historical feel in the wording and situations.
Celia is being sold in marriage by her father to an elderly man to pay off his debts.
She begs her brother’s friend Kit to save her but it does not happen.
For years Celia and Kit are friends but never anything more due to the past until a sexy night at a masquerade.
Trials and misunderstandings need to be worked through before their HEA.
Enjoyable read, frustrating at times because you are just hoping it will all work out.
Third in a series that has been entertaining.
