Such a cute story about friendship. I love how even after they become friends, horse and unicorn maintain their individuality. My daughter will absolutely love this book. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review.

Based on the title you pretty much know what you're going to get with this book. We have the clear messaging about everyone being special and having their own strengths. What makes this one stand out is the illustrations. There is a great use of color and contrast to differentiate the characters and their feelings.

Book 150 of 300 ~ 2024

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I am a sucker for anything unicorn. Lol.

And when the unicorn is partnered with a grumpy horse in a kids' book, there better be sparkles, rainbow, and a happy ending!

Huzzah on all three :))

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I have to read every unicorn picture book I come across and this one is no different. The cover art and illustrations are lovely. Bright and colorful. The story is endearing and sweet with adorable animals. Kiddos will love how bright and colorful the illustrations are. Very eye catching. Love the humor in the writing too.

Unicorn (and horse) starts out very cute. Horse is super jealous of Unicorn and their ability to make rainbows (instead of farts), tasty cupcakes, and play with the other animals. Horse decides to be jealous and doesn’t want to be friends with Unicorn; even when asked to join them with the other animals for cupcakes.
Then our book takes a weird turn… and gets a few pages longer than your average children’s picture book (but has few words so I think it’s still a good length). Some robbers decide a unicorn would make them money and steals Unicorn in a truck. All the other animals are too small, not fast enough, or incapable of going after the truck to save Unicorn… except for Horse.
From there you can likely see where this goes. Its cute, I love the illustrations, there are fun noises for toddlers to say and learn; yet overall I can’t help but image the 3 year old that gets afraid of robbers stealing them and wondering who would run after them. Maybe that opens a door for a conversation about strangers? But given the prison black and white stripes of our robbers I think the bad guys are just a bit too bad and scary here for some kids.
So I’m 4 stars because I wouldn’t want to give Unicorn (and horse) to an insecure or easily frightened child.

Please note: I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an honest and unbiased review.

I LOVED this one so much!!!
I love the dichotomy of the two main characters, and my children went nuts over it.
It teaches about our differences and similarities, natural feelings like jealousy and how to deal with it.
Amazing!

Thank you to Familus Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this picture book for my students. This is an adorable picture book that discusses different friendships and people being influenced by people. I think it's fun for language students to use, but it is not for everyone. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars

Beautiful artwork! It's a story about overcoming jealousy in friendship. At one point, the unicorn is abducted which might be scary for younger children, but it is a cute story overall.

My daughter loved this book. At first she felt a little bad for the horse, but the ending made her smile. We loved the artwork and the lesson it taught. I'll be purchasing this book once it's released.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley got this ARC

An adorable book about a unicorn and a horse. The children love it! A lot. Plus the art is absolutely adorable.

This was very cute. We should all be teaching kids to love each others differences and support one another. The pictures are adorable, and I know my library kiddos will love this one.

A very simple and almost charming tale of a horse angry that the unicorn is so well thought of, visually admired and seems able to fart rainbows. It's certainly not a love-love relationship, let's be clear – but when the needs must, what then? At most we get two or three short sentences per page, and the visuals respond in almost being equally bitty and static, but the whole flows nicely, and we see the narrative take us to a very different place than we seemed to be at the start. A colourful and pleasant little read for colourful and pleasant little readers.

Funny little story about jealousy and getting past differences. Clever and funny. I'm sure my children would really enjoy this simple story with beautiful and expressive illustrations.

This story was perfect to show how we are all focused on what other have, forgetting to appreciate who we are, realizing we are worthy no matter how worthy others are. It made me smile and share some tears because, like Horse, I usually tend to think better of anyone else but not myself. This is a book that I'm going to gift to friends for sure!

A super cute short children's story about a horse who wants to be like Unicorn. 100% gave me Unicorn Wings vibes. As someone who LOVES horses, unicorns, pegasi, all things equine and magical, what a fun little story about becoming friends with someone you're jealous of and realizing that you're happy being yourself.

This book is so incredibly sweet and teaches a really important lesson for children. I love the illustrations, as well. I might be bias b/c I adore unicorns, but still, the message is fantastic... I love it.

This book was so sweet, the best children’s ARC I have read in a long time. I think that it was such a great way of explaining the role of friendship and their differences while keeping it short and enjoyable for the kids. The illustration changes throughout were so adorable and I loved this one. I highly recommend.

My 7 year old son loved this. The illustrations were colorful and vibrant and simplistic enough to understand what was going on. The story was easy to read and had a good message behind accepting yourself as you are. There were cute and funny moments as well as a good lesson behind the unicorn and horse.

What a sweet story! Yes, everything and everyone has something special about them. I feel like horse most of the time but I definitely have things about me that make me shine like a unicorn. Loved it!
