Fated by Sarah Ready was a cute and emotional contemporary romance with a little drop of magic. I won't say much about the plot to avoid spoilers but this was an adorable romance with quirky characters that I absolutely adored. Our fmc is meeting a man in her dreams and falling in love. It's such an emotional ride to watch her want to dream more and more even though she knows it's fated to never last. The audiobook is narrated by Shakira Shute and I really liked her voice for the role.
Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest.
In this book, Fiona owns (with her brother) a family watch business in Geneva. She's very busy as a single mother and businesswoman. When she's given a family heirloom that claims to make dreams come true, she is skeptical, but that night, she dreams of an alternate life married living on a tropical island with her husband and two children. The book alternates between Fiona's real life and her dream life. She loves both lives, but eventually must make a choice. You must go to the end before you'll know how this turns out. What a great mix of fantasy and romance, sure to bring tears to your eyes at various points. Love, love, love this book! One of the best I've read all year. May there be many more in this series!
Thanks to NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC for providing an advance review copy of this audiobook. My opinions are my own.
I have enjoyed both book 1 and 2 in this Ghosted series and now with book 3 I am still loving this series. These books are great for those who love romance, time travel and contemporary fiction. These books would totally works as standalones too which is great - although I do recommend the series!
The narration was so expressive and truly made me feel like I was in their world. The authors writing was amazing and so poetic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
The audiobook version of "Fated" is a total win! The story is packed with twists and cool supernatural vibes, but what really makes it shine is the narrator. They do an amazing job bringing the characters to life, giving each one a unique voice that keeps you totally engaged.
The pacing is spot-on, so you’re never bored, and the narrator keeps things interesting from start to finish. Sure, there are a few predictable moments, but honestly, the narration is so good that you won’t even mind. If you’re into audiobooks and love a bit of fantasy, "Fated" is definitely worth a listen!
I soft dnfed it I got about 50% in . There was. Nothing wrong with he book I just never continued it as it was a bit confusing for me . Her real life vs her dream life
Because of this I won’t rate it ( the 3 star is a placeholder : it was somewhat entertaining
The premises are always so out there, and even when they seem too far-fetched, I get hooked every single time. Sarah Ready is such a creative writer, there were twists in the book that I did not see coming. If you haven't read this series and you like rom-coms and sci-fi, this is a perfect mix.
First I would like to thank the publishers for providing me an ARC and audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the story of Fiona, single mom and CEO, who after getting shot at a company/family Christmas party her mother gifts her with a family heirloom, a special watch, which was supposed to let you dream your greatest desires. Fiona decides to give it a try and is transported to a remote island where she is surrounded by complete strangers and they keep calling her by a different name. Once she figures this is the only place the watch will send her Fiona decides to embrace the experience and live this desire out to the fullest, especially connecting with her husband and children. As she spends more time in her dreams, she starts living to fall asleep to get back to it. She decides to give up this dream life and spend more time with her day time family/life but when she learns there people are real she needs to learn what she can about the watch and the possibility of finding her dream family.
What I Loved:
- Family heirloom, Fiona is from a family of watchmakers and I loved that this heirloom was a magic watch
- Dream life, I really enjoyed that Fiona's dream life was the complete opposite of her real life and the man of her dreams was an overall good man who loved his wife and kids
- Audiobook quality, I both read and listened to this book and the audiobook quality was just amazing with an amazing narrator who portrays the variety of characters so well
- Fiona's family, she is surrounded by her daughter, brother and best friend who anchor her to the waking world and are there to support and push her when necessary
- Twist, there is a great twist when it comes to the magic of this watch and I was not expecting the ending of this story
I really loved this book and it was such a unique take on a fantasy romance. There were so many amazing aspects of this story that just kept me hooked throughout and I didn't want it to end. If you are looking for a unique take on a romance story with great characters from different walks of life, with a fun magical element and overall great story then please go pick of this book. Every book in this series have been so well done and I hope there are more to come.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you, to NetGalley as well as Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC for the opportunity to read this book as an audio copy.
“She meets the man of her dreams in her dreams.”
Sarah Ready just does this so freaking well. She knows how to combine story-telling with gripping paranormal elements and make it flow together in a way that is unexpected and so refreshing. I love this series and cannot wait to read “Wished” next!
The narration on this was first rate and was very enjoyable, even at 2x speed which is unusual for me for narrators with any kind of accent. Very clear, very concise, and great storytelling skills.
Some details:
-Third in the series, but could be read as a standalone
-British voice narrator
-Elements of whimsy, magical realism, paranormal events, time travel…all of the goodness.
-Lots of flashbacks. Lots of “future visioning”. The time travel element of this is honestly just so good. A magic watch? SOLD.
Fun little book in this paranormal Ghosted series, and love this narrator!
The series brings an interesting paranormal element, and the dreamscape parallel universe of this story was a very intriguing concept.
This was lovely. I really like Sarah Ready's heartfelt magical realism. Fated is moving, romantic and sweet (and the last quarter was kind of edge of your seat stressful). And Ready writes in such a way that makes everything seem really poetic and meaningful.
I enjoyed the first half, and I expected the payoff to be satisfying, but I do think there were some minor flaws with the plotting. Sometimes it was hard to be that invested in dream people and I wish there had been more to tie the various storylines together before the end. Or maybe there was and I'm just dense. And, again, the last third of the book was perfection.
The narrator did a great job too. Really good emotional range and a nice voice to listen to for 13 hours.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher. I'm also excited that I have another Sarah Ready audiobook queued up to listen to next!
This book will take your breath away
This is book 3 in the Ghosted series but can be read alone. Fiona Abry and her younger brother Daniel run the Abry Watch Co in Geneva, started 180 years earlier by their ancestor. She is a single mom to her 8-year-old daughter Mila and is afraid to love due to a previous bad experience. Fiona is given the first Abry watch made and discovers that she has very vivid dreams when she sleeps while holding it. In the dream life her name is Becca and she’s married to Aaron McCormick, an amazing kind man who loves her and is definitely a dream guy. They have been married 15 years and have two kids - teenage Amy who loves to read and toddler Sean. This appears to be the perfect solution: Fiona can love with her whole heart in her dreams without the risk of pain.
I thought this story was captivating and didn’t want to put it down. It is unbelievably romantic, full of surprises, and unpredictable. You never know where she’s going to end up or what stage her dream life will be at from chapter to chapter, which keeps you wondering and reading and interested. You also don’t know how she’s going to choose between her two lives that are similar but very different, or if the dream life is even real. The audiobook also has an excellent narrator. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance copy of the ebook and audiobook to use for my review.
Content warning: some sexual content, parental abandonment of a child.
enjoyed both books in the Josh and Gemma series. I loved Switched (Ghosted #2) and wanted another book in the Ghosted series. The narrator was good. I enjoyed the rimantic story.
Thanks to Sarah Ready and publisher for my audiobook in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
I hope there will be more in this fun and quirky series.
4 stars.
This is the third book in Sarah’s Ghosted series. It follows the story of business woman Fiona Abry. Fiona gets a present from her flakey mum which shows her true dreams. She just has to work out how to get them!
I listened to this as an audiobook and I think I probably enjoyed it more than I would have if I was reading conventionally. I felt like I was able to be swept up in the story a bit more. I think this storyline was a lot more serious than the storyline in Switched with a lot less comedic moments and flirty banter between the characters.
I’ve read quite a few books from Sarah Ready now and like the humour and style of her writing. My favourite of Sarah’s so far is probably Switched, the second book in this Ghosted series. If you’re a fan of Ashley Poston I think you’ll enjoy this series with the same sense of imagination and paranormal/magical realism feel.
Thanks to @netgalley and the publishers for an ARC of this title.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance listen to the audiobook for Fated.
I wish I could say I enjoyed this, but I had to start over twice and was still left confused. I'm sure if I had a physical copy it would be better, but with audio I was lost. The narrators were fine, though.
Fated is a dreamy rom com with a sci fi twist.
I was immediately sucked in with the intriguing premise. However I have to confess I had some trouble relating to Fiona and Aaron, and struggled to make sense of some of their choices. The relationship dynamics throughout had a bit of a cheating feeling to them, which felt uncomfortable, and isn’t my cup of tea.
Having said that I love the creativity of Sarah Ready’s novels and really enjoy the playful sci fi that underpins her rom coms. While not my favourite of hers for the above reasons, it was an engaging and easy read, and I can see it being really enjoyable and accessible to a wide variety of readers.
I enjoyed it both as an ebook and audiobook, and thought the narration really helped to provide context to the story, with great characterisations of Fiona and Aaron. 3.5 stars, rounded up.
Thank you Swift & Lewis Publishing LLC and NetGalley for this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
I was really looking forward to reading "Fated" because this series by Sarah Ready has captivated me, especially with its sci-fi elements that always manage to surprise me. The story is beautiful in the way it portrays heartache, longing, and love, in a way that we don't often see. Not only do we witness romantic love, but also the importance of platonic and sibling love.
Sarah Ready is an incredible writer, with her unique storytelling and incisive, profound narrative. She has woven a story of a woman learning to dream and then falling in love with the man of her dreams in her dream life. The plot is incredibly complex yet intriguing, and each chapter pulls you in, making it hard to stop reading. The dream setting in a tropical paradise, along with the cozy and comforting vibes of Geneva, Switzerland, will immerse you deeply into the pages of this book.
The ending was perfect, and you’re in for a roller coaster ride with how the last chapters were written.
This book was so sighhhhhh. I really hated for it to end.
Fiona is a successful business woman and single mom. During a party, she is shot. This triggers her mother to show up with a family heirloom. It allows you to dream your hearts desire and hers lives on an island with 2 kids and she inhabits the body of the wife who longs for another.
UGHHHHHH it was so good. Watching Fiona and Aaron fall in love in her dreams was so magical. It was very hallmark magical and I love books that do this. Fiona lives her regular life when she is awake and her dream life when she sleeps.
I won't spoil it for you but it is such a lovely story and I highly recommend it if you like clean romance with a lot of cuteness.

Fated is the 3rd book in the Ghosted series and it's Fiona Abry's story. I am really loving this series. Each story gives us something uniquely different yet otherworldly and this was no exception. The author's brillance and creativity
amazes me as the story progressed and I was hooked unable to put this one down.
After an accident, Fiona's mother gifted her an antique watch that's rumored to show you your dreams when you sleep. A bit skeptical, she still decided you try it and wakes up on an island as Becca, a married woman with two children.
We are taken on a journey with Fiona, as she navigates her real life during the day and her dream life at night. As the story progressed she slowly starts to care for her dream family and starts falling in love with her dream husband.
The story was well written and easy to follow and gave us memorable characters, swoony heartfelt romance, some heartache, unexpected twists that blew my mind and an ending I absolutely loved. It was a great addition to this series and I would highly recommend it.

I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Shakira Shute. She did a fantastic job with the narration, giving each character their own voice and personality and really brought out their emotions. She brought the story to life and it was a pleasure listening to her narrate this novel.
Fiona sees Aaron in a dream and in that dream she is not herself. Instead, she is a blonde haired woman by the name of Becca, who just happens to be Aaron’s wife. Fiona and Aaron have Instant chemistry, not attraction - chemistry. Anytime they’re together, they feel like they’ve known each other forever. For Aaron this is easy because he believes she is his wife of 15 years. But at the same time he recognizes, there’s something different.
I found the story hard to get into. Every time Fiona took out the watch to dream about Aaron I thought about Fiona‘s daughter, Milla. In the end, things did work out, and Mila did not get left behind and niether did Aaron’s children. I’d like to read Daniel’s story, which happens after this story, but was written before.
I’d like to think that Kelly for an advance copy and exchange for an honest review.
