First, I would like to thank NetGalley, Lia Riley, and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC and the chance to read this book!

Puck and Prejudice was a 4-star read for me!

The book had so much wit and humor, along with a great connection between the characters. Having a current-day hockey player travel back in time to 1812 was an interesting plot (and could have gone wrong very quickly), but Lia Riley made it feel fun and grounded! Tuck, our hockey player, felt like a real person, with true passions and relationships in his time.

However, I felt the characters did not develop much throughout the story. Their relationship was fun to see grow and change, but as individuals, I felt we did not see how the series of events changed them all that much. It was easier to see it in Lizzy, but we did not see much from her perspective at the end.

Overall, I really enjoyed my time reading this book and I am looking forward to reading more from Lia Riley!

2.5/5⭐️
Thank you netgalley for the arc!

Loved the concept of this book, I never thought I’d read a hockey regency era romance but here we are. The plot was lacking somewhat for me, I thought that overall it was a fun idea but I feel like it could have been executed better. I think the development of Lizzy’s character was okay, but I feel like Tuck’s character lacked any development. As a result, I feel like I didn’t connect with either of the characters. I didn’t predict the ending (yippee!) but I do think the ending was a bit of a cop out and was trying too hard to satisfy everyone.

This was one of the most creative sports romances I've ever read! I'm a sucker for the time travel trope and I feel like this was done very well. I also adored the Jane Austen plug throughout the story. Super fun!

Lizzy and Tuck were so cute but I have to say... while I'm glad none of them had to give up their life entirely to be together (going back and forth through time every so often), I just don't understand how that will work logistically in the long run? Something's gotta give at some point!

Overal, I gave this one 3 stars. Still enjoyable, but I did have some issues with it.

First I’d like to thank NetGalley and Lia Riley for the opportunity to read an ARc of her upcoming book . In exchange for an honest review .

I just want to say I am a huge pride and prejudice fan. So I was very excited to see another book based on it. I loved that Lizzy knew Jane and actually spoke about how she was inspiration for Elizabeth. I really enjoyed the book, the plot was cute. I loved the couple and I definitely enjoyed myself while I read it. That being said tho. I felt everything was just to ..idk easy? I guy claims he’s from the future and without even clarifying first she basically accepts it . He kinda figures it out really fast and also accepts it?. I just wish it had more of atleast a character or so of them both coming to terms with it. I just felt like from the beginning it was just so “okay cool! “ and just moved on lol overall tho I liked the book. I would not call it a hockey romance as no hockey was played , the only thing that made it hockey was that he was a goalie for a hockey team. I still recommend to anyone looking for a cute pride and prejudice retelling with a little twist ❤️

This book was so unique and so cute. I absolutely loved Tucker and Lizzys relationship and how it started as strangers and slowly they grew to love each other. I love the time traveling that happens and the dynamics of the plot that were caused by Tuckers want to go home and Lizzys heart wanting him to stay. I had the absolute pleasure of reading this as an ARC read and I will buying a physical copy to reread again in the future! The ending was may favorite part and I love that they embrace each other's worlds with such ease. Go read this book!

Completely enthralling in theory, but slightly insufferable in execution. PUCK AND PREJUDICE sounds like everything a fan of both historical and sports romances could dream of in a book, but unfortunately it feel quite flat. The characters lacked any 3D personality.

I absolutely loved this book! It was a great combination of a sports romance and historical romance book. I would highly recommend this book!

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the ARC of this book.

To tell you the truth, I went into this book thinking that it would be the most unserious thing ever and I would cringe at the mere fact of this thought even being penned to paper happening. However, I was COMPLETELY PROVEN WRONG.

I'm a major fan of time travel books and this one is now one of my favorites. Tuck and Lizzy's unconventional meeting, and subsequent love story felt real and the compromise they came up with at the end actually made sense (I 100% thought the book would end differently). If you ever wondered what it was like to be transported back to the 1800s, be thrust into the society of the ton, meet Jane Austen, and fall in love then this book is definitely for you!

3.5 stars! Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I truly had no idea what to expect from this book and I admit that I was MOSTLY pleasantly pleased. This crazy ass story line has real potential, it just fell a little flat for me in how it all played out. Everything happened so fast, with minimal real conflict. I struggled to just be along for the ride as I was so in my head about how everyone around them, Tuck and Lizzy included, immediately believed the time travel bit and were supportive??? Aside from how fast everything seemed to happen, I did think Tuck and Lizzy as a couple were sweet and his support and encouragement of Lizzy and her quest to be a strong and independent 19th century woman was beautiful to read. And the Jane Austen of it all did make me giggle!

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I recommend to all my fellow readers who love nonsense, time travel, regency era, hockey players, and marriage of convenience!

3.25 Stars

This is exactly what it sounds like. Hockey romance AND regency romance wrapped up in one book. With time travel shenanigans and cute banter, this is a great fit for spicy rom com enjoyers in their Bridgerton era.

Regals goalie Tucker Taylor is benched due to health issues, gets into a car crash while visiting his sister in England and is suddenly transported to 1812! He is discovered by Lizzy Wooddash, a smart and sassy woman who would rather focus on her writing than find a husband. Together they hatch a plan to get him back to his time and her a respectable widowing by marrying in legal terms only and faking his death once they figure out how to time travel again. But when an unexpected romance blooms between them, they are faced with conflicting choices to make.

Puck and Prejudice is perfect for fans of Jane Austen and hockey smut, a fun time with romantic prose. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters, their banter was super fun and cute. All around, a good comfort read.

A Spicy Time Travel Hockey Romance - Amazon
For fans of *Marriage of Convenience *Outland and Pride and Prejudice *One bed

Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes. Add in Hockey Romance and Outlander, then I must read it. I was very excited to get this ARC through NetGalley. I was impatient to start... and I was not disappointed.

This was a lovely read. It was well written and the details were great. Lots of laughs. The FMC was just the right amount of independent thinking and feisty. The MMC was thoughtful and smart enough to adapt to all the changes and keep her reputation in place. He was also funny and sexy.

I found myself very jealous of Lizzy. This was a new inventive way of coupling up/forced into a relationship with a handsome and rich hockey star.

I really enjoyed the way Pride and Prejudice was woven into the story. It was believable.

Wonderful surprise of the book was the Breeding for Horses "instruction manual". lol. I loved the way it introduced the spice to the book.

I received this eARC through NetGalley

I enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the build up for it. I loved the Jane Austen character, knowing that Tucker helped her pretty much name the well known book. When reading this book, I couldn't predict whether he would stay or she would go, I never knew what the outcome would be. But I was smiling when he seen her in the stands with his jersey on. Overall this book is something I would recommend to friends, I already have and it isn't even out yet, lol. I'll most likely buy a book copy when it hits shelfs. I already reviewed it on my goodreads.

A solid 3.5 stars. Getting into this book was hard for me, perhaps I wasn’t in the mood, or maybe it was a bit slow. The plot began earlier than I expected yet it still felt somewhat sluggish. However it really picked up in the middle and I truly found myself enjoying Lizzy and Tuck as they fell for each other. However, the ending of the book then felt rushed, perhaps owing to the slow beginning. I did enjoy this book and time travel long distance is certainly a novel concept. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Puck and Prejudice by Lia Riley is an absolutely bonkers and fun read!

I would never imagine regency and historical romance mixing with hockey but it did and this story was so fun, entertaining, engaging and really different. I thought that the storyline was the perfect movie setting that would be so fun to watch. I thought that the story was so sweet and at times heart wrenching but I loved that time and different worlds didn't matter to them and they fell in love and matched each other and I thought this is just such a fun story.

Anything remotely resembling Jane Austin is always an instant read for me. I was so excited to get an Arc from Netgalley for this book!
Tucker is a hockey player in remission from cancer and just ready to get back to his life. While visiting his sister in London he ends up in a car accident and transports back to 1812. Lizzy is a typical woman in 1812, she wants to have rights and to write her book without having to use a male name. When she stumbles across Tuck in the pond she chooses to help him get back to his own time. We have a sweet love story, hilarious side characters (including a familiar Jane) and some sweet nostalgic lines from the original book. This checked all my boxes and I highly recommend this book and author!

I received an ARC of this book by the publisher via Netgalley in an exchange for an honest review.

I'll be honest with you and say that I requested this ARC solely because the concept of combining hockey players with Bridgerton was so outlandish that I wanted a front row seat to see how it played out. And let me tell you, Lia Riley pulled it off! I'm a Regency romance girlie (and the only hockey romance I've read is Icebreaker so I don't have a ton of experience in that field). And so this review is coming from someone who loves historical romances. I was impressed at Riley's knowlege and ability to write in a Regency mindset. It's obvious that she did a lot of research, and I'm pleasantly surprised to see this was her first time writing a historical fiction. Another plus for the book is that even though the title is a play on Pride & Prejudice, it's not a retelling of Austen. This book is also decently spicy. I'd rate it a 3 out of 5 (jalapeno) on the spice meter.

Overall, I'd rate Puck and Prejudice a 4 out of 5. If you're looking for a spicy lighthearted novel that's a good bit of fun, then I don't think you'll be disappointed with this one.

I was really hoping this would be more fun and ridiculous! I mean, a hockey romance mixed with time travel and regency sounds really wild, but this wasn't that good. The time travel elements especially seemed to barely be a hindrance. This man doesn't even know who Jane Austen is and yet is able to convince people that he is from their time because he's good at reading people?? Because he's a hockey goalie???

I don't this book will satisfy sports romance fans or regency romance fans. Again, I really wished this book leaned into the silliness more. Not for me!

There are many adaptations of Jane Austin, but Puck and Prejudice brings a new twist to that famous story that allows it to stand out on its own! The book takes place in modern day, until an incident lands hockey player Tucker Taylor into the early 1800s regency era. Lia mixes the romantic feel of historical romances and the comfort of the modern day.

The banter and chemistry between Lizzy Wooddash and Tucker had me giggling and so invested! They are literally from "different worlds" and have to learn how to act around someone who is so unfamiliar to them. Naturally Tucker has more knowledge about life because he "is from the future", Lizzy is able to keep up with him because of her strong personality and whit.

The spice had me BLUSHING!!!! The angst that comes from Lizzy being from a more modest society and Tucker knowing how to dirty talk was *chefs kiss*

I also love how there are deeper topics that each character has had to deal with that makes you care for them even more.

The end wrapped up pretty quickly though and I wish it was a little longer.

3 stars. Short and sweet, but I definitely wouldn't call this a standard hockey romance. I liked the characters, but not sure if I would read more in this "world"

Super cute read with great Jane Austen Easter eggs if you are a fan! Was worried about Tuck being a hockey "bro", but he was such a sweet and likeable character.
