Book 3 in the Saskia Monet series. This would’ve been a good read but I found it that a lot of the storyline was based on Saskia and Winters relationship rather than the plot ! Such a shame as it had the premise of being a good read !

While the storyline was enjoyable and the main characters sounded decent enough, the book just didn't capture my attention as much as I thought it would be after reading the synopsis. It seemed to be a lot of waffle/going off in directions we didn't really need for the plot itself.

Island of Graves is the third book in a police drama procedural series. I have not read any other books in the series or by this author until this book.

The book had a lot going on, and I enjoyed the story. While I didn’t know a lot of the backstory, having not read the previous books I was still able to enjoy and understand the story . So this can be read as a stand alone but I do want to know what happened before. While I enjoyed the characters I know I missed a lot by not reading the previous ones first.

I liked the fast paced story, it definitely had some twists, and I loved the ending.

It is a dark and disturbing crime thriller set in Jersey. The headless body of an older woman is found in an ancient burial mound, closely followed by more human remains. DI Winter Labey contacts forensic psychologist, Saskia Monet, someone he has worked closely with before, to profile the killer. Saskia has dark secrets she wants to keep from Winter; will she have to leave Jersey as her personal life collides with her professional one? I have read the previous two books in this series, and whilst this is readable as a standalone. Saskia's dilemma is more understandable if you appreciate her difficult upbringing. The suspense building is impactful, making it intense. I like the dynamic between Saskia and Winter and the dark, twisty plot.

This book was gripping and hard to put down. It didn't feel like everything else you see out there, it felt very fresh. I really enjoyed this book!

Island of Graves is book 3 in the Saskia Monet series. I didn't read the first 2 books, but I fee like this book can be read as a stand alone, but may have been even better had I read the first two books. That said I really enjoyed this read and would recommend adding it to your TBR. This book is a well written crime thriller that had me hooked from page one. I think the author did a great job telling the story, from the details to the characters. It was just a great read that was hard to put down. This was the first book I've read from this author and I'm excited to read more in the future.

This is the third book in the series, and I'm still really enjoying the Jersey setting and the alarming number of extremely creepy murders that happen on that tiny island, but I'm getting a little worn out by the Saskia/Winter dynamic as it's starting to feel very middle school. The situation with the brother also needs some resolution. I will definitely read book four when it's available because I feel invested, but I really hope some things either progress or wrap themselves up because I'm starting to get frustrated.

Island Of Graves by Gwyn Bennett is the third book in this series and is a murder mystery which will have you hooked from page one. It is the story of a killer who murders two older women, and their bodies are found left in Neolithic buried sites on the island of Jersey. Detective Inspecter Winter Labey is the lead investigator, and he calls on Saskia Monet who is a forensic phycologist to help profile their killer. Saskia and Labey are attracted to each other, but Saskia is conflicted as she has a dark secret, which she is trying to keep from Labey. The story also involves David who is a psychopath and David is also Saskias Brother and she has been doing therapy with him to try and help him manage his life.
Once you start reading this book it is extremely hard to put down as the plots unfold and it quickly becomes a race against time to catch the killer before they strike again. The book is fast paced and is a twisted tale of revenge and psychopathy with plenty of twists and turn thrown in. You can read this book as a standalone, but I highly recommend all three books. Gwyn Bennett is an excellent crime writer and if you like police procedural books you will love this one. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. A Dark Case..
The third outing in the Saskia Monet series and a dark case calls for Saskia’s assistance and expertise. As a race against time ensues, more lives may well be at risk. With a firm and well imagined sense of place, a pacy plot and credible, well developed characters this is another well written addition to this interesting and reliable series.

I generally really like this author’s books. And I did like this one, but something about it was less compelling than all the others, especially in this series. I can’t quite put my finger on why. Maybe it’s because it was more like a romantic suspense, which generally isn’t my cup of tea. This one focused a lot on Saskia and Winter’s possible relationship, almost making her seem like a cat in heat at times. It seemed a little off from her character. I was also hoping that there would be more to David’s story. I knew where it was heading, but I had hoped to go beyond where it ended. In any case, aside from those things, the story overall was engaging and I do plan to continue the series.

Saskia is a complex character who is trying to navigate her professional and personal life whilst hiding the secrets of her past, the relationship between Winter and herself is developing nicely if not frustratingly and her conscious is directing her well.

The story was dark, intense and atmospheric an engaging read.

Saskia Monet is a prison psychologist working closely with local police to help profile criminals. Elderly women are being murdered - and beheaded! Bodies and parts are found in various historical monuments on the island, and she’s tasked with helping to work out who the murderer could be. Saskia is sharp, and has to balance her feelings for her colleague while hiding the secrets of her family’s past. Enjoyable read, and part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.

I have read the previous books, which is possibly not essential but would be helpful. I highly recommend this series to lovers of crime fiction. I look forward to reading the next book, to see how the case involving David Carter resolves.

At the same time, she fights with the decision of trying to save the life of her brother's current girlfriend, or staying quiet, seeing how things play out.

Will Winter and Saskia be able to solve the case before another body turns up?

Really great read! I have enjoyed this series, and look forward to reading more about this dynamic pair!

Although this is the third book in the series, it is the first one I've read, and I feel that it can be read as a stand-alone story. There's a lot going on in this story from a horrible murderer to a bully to a budding romance. For me, the story started a little slowly but then it really picked up and I was turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. There were some interesting twists as they got closer to finding the murderer.

Gripping and unputdownable! Secrets and a female police lead? yes please! I was waiting for each chapter as soon as I started the previous. Could not put this down and was engaged the entire time.

I read the previous book in this series, so I requested this book immediately, and I definitely liked this one! I noticed a lot of character development here, and I appreciated that because what I complained of in the last book was taken care of. Especially Saskia's arrogance over managing her psychpath brother

I'm glad I saw a lot of positive progress in Saskia and Winter's relationship. It was literally the main reason I decided to continue the series. But, this is not to discount the suspense in the book. I enjoyed it, although I felt it was a backdrop to the situation with Saskia's psychopath brother, David. I'm really curious as to what he would do next, especially with what happened here.

Well. I absolutely loved this book! It was dark. It was gory. It was brilliant. The best one yet and I am desperate to read the next one. Cant recommend this highly enough. Easy 5 stars from me.

I can't get enough of this series. It just keeps on getting better and better.

This story started when Doug Langlois, a retired police officer, recognized a familiar odor. He was climbing a neolithic passage grave when he witnessed a very horrific scene that shocked his life.

This book gives me so much tension and anxiety because Saskia is having so much trouble and it's her attacking all together.
She has a bully at her job.
Her psychotic brother is giving her more problems.
And she is also helping the detectives build a profile for this specific case.
And of course, her feelings for DI Winter are making her confused and scared because of her past.
Like, please let this woman breathe for a sec!

So much has been happening that I literally finish half of the book immediately.
This book made me feel like I'm tied up in knots.

The first two books of this series were good, but this one is my favorite.
I seriously cannot wait for the next one.
