I had no idea this was the second in a series until I went to Goodreads to review this book. It says nothing about it on NetGalley, which I don't think is fair to the readers or the author.

Because it's the second in a series and I didn't read the first, I'm now a little unsure of the review I was going to write. I found myself not caring much about the characters, which makes a lot more sense now that I know I missed a ton of the story.

The overall mystery was fine and I liked the Alaska setting, but like I said, I just had no connection to these characters. My advice would be don't read this unless you've read the first. As a standalone, it's nothing special, but I think I would have enjoyed it as a continuation of a different story.

This was a good read and the description of the book is spot on.
Cameron finds out her husband is a serial killer. She attacks him and leaves him for dead and starts over elsewhere. Then, in the town she now lives in, very similar killings start to happen and it’s believed the murderer is one of their own police force. Cameron does not believe he could be the killer, but is also consumed with doubt wondering if she’s only attracted to serial killers.
Pace of the book is great and keeps you guessing. Narration was also good.

3.75 stars

Cameron, the m.c., has had some tough breaks, and there are more ahead throughout the course of this novel. When you are married to a serial killer, attempt to get retribution, restart your life, and find love again, there's bound to be some drama!

The novel begins with a scene that'll make most readers' hearts beat faster, and this sets the tone for the rest of the novel. Along with constant thrills, there are also endless questions about Cameron's clarity and grasp on reality. After all, she comes to believe that her dead (?!) ex-husband is now on a murder spree, and it really is impossible to tell whether this man, of course, is very much alive and ensuring others are not OR if someone else is engaging in some copycat activities. To me, this frequent grappling was an even more intriguing element than learning the truth (which you can obviously discover for yourselves).

This is my second book by this author, and I have enjoyed both. I'll be back for more thrills!

This was more than I expected, in a great way!!
This was full of suspense and whodunnit from past and present murders. I really enjoyed all the new discoveries and twists that came up just when I thought I knew who the killer was. Wow! I will now go back and read the first book!
