I was already familiar with this comic when I requested this book from the catalog. I actually read Suitor Armor on Webtoon while it was being released weekly. I’ve found myself stepping away from this website because I’m too impatient to wait for each chapter and prefer to read everything all in one bundle. There were certain elements I enjoyed about this collection and others that had me scratching my wee head. I absolutely adored Purpah’s art style. The illustrations, character design, and even the wardrobe had me nearly drooling. It was the bombardment of multiple plotlines that had me befuddled. It was difficult to keep track of the various knights and ladies-in-waiting. This volume also happened to conclude in the strangest spot without a clear setup for the future sequel. I’m not quite sure whether or not I”ll pursue the second volume considering our love interest doesn’t even have a pair of lips to kiss. Mouths are a pretty vital organ to possess when writing a fantasy romance. This suitor armor had a few dents, but it’s what’s on the inside that matters, right? Whatever that may be…

I loved Suitor Armor Volume One. Everything that has been published by from Webtoon I have absolutely adored. The artwork is beautiful and I can't wait to find out more about Lucia and her past and the budding romance between her and Modeus. This series has great potential and I am looking forward to continue reading the series.
Lady Kirsi's father brings home Lucia to be the handmaid to the future queen to King Reimund. Kirsi and Lucia have grown close, despite the growing war between humans and fairies outside of the castle wall. Lucia’s time at court takes a turn when she accompanies Lady Kirsi to a royal tournament that calls together all of the kingdom's brave knights for a competition. A magically animated suit of armor, brought to life by Norrix, the court mage. Lucia is immediately attracted to the armor's dark, mysterious charm and lovingly names him Modeus. Bonded by their mutual status as outcasts since Lucia is a fairy and he is made of magic....Lucia yearns to know more about herself and her kind after another fairy has broken into the castle.

I love this webcomic and I love that it will be in a print format! The art is beautiful and the story is so compelling! Romantasy lovers will love this book!

I picked up for the cute art and anticipated a whimsical story. For me personally, the story was a bit too breezy and didn't give me quite enough details or character development to keep me invested. I didn't find most of the character relationships believable, and felt most of their histories were told rather than shown. In my opinion, there are too many characters introduced right away to get to know any of them well or to develop much plot structure. I did enjoy the dynamic between Baynard and Peres, though I wasn't truly interested in them until the bonus chapter. It wasn't enough for me to plan on continuing to read the comic. The art is very aesthetically pleasing and makes great use of color, though!

It was a cute, cozy graphic with fairy, magic and a whimsical setting . Aesthetically speaking I have nothing to say, drawing style is not my favorite but it fit perfectly with the vibe.
It was a easy read and I feel like it is going to be a cute found family the more we get through the series
My only real issues with it is the characters.
Beside Lucia we don’t know much about others characters . Which make sense Lucia is our MC but even the drawing doesn’t give much about the characters . The good thing about graphic is that we can see characters story on them no need to interact with them . It could be because of the way they dress or their scars or tattoos but the characters in it looks flat . No scars, no specific dressing style , nothing. Just basic generic characters.
The best exemple of a flat character in it is the character of Kirsi
She is the cliché of the dumb untitled princess , which she actually is, and do not seems to have thoughts of her own ? Modeus looks dangerous thus he is .
The king said that the fairy were the bad guys thus they are .
She have NO other thought in her brain beside her wedding with the king .
Though, sometime we can see a few glimpses of her needing Lucia’s help because she sucks at talking to her soon-to-be spouse , which may mean that she only shows a part of her personality ;
I guess she must be a bit sheltered because of her status but you’re suppose to be able to have an opinion.
I wonder how she will react to Lucia’s real nature .
The bonus chapter about Peres past was interesting though.
Beside the few interactions with Lucia and his job we did know much about him, so the bonus chapter was gladly welcomed . (Is it even a thing in English ?)
I like when we have short bits of side characters history .
And because of their life chose every characters are connected and present even in the flashback chapter and I liked seeing a younger version of them.

Well, this is adorable. The art style is a bit young for the YA/adult audience, but it made for a comfy cozy reading experience. I curled up with a blanket and a cat to read this story beginning to end, metaphorically giggling and kicking my feet. I definitely recommend checking this comic out, and I hope I can read further volumes.
Lucia's early fairy wing reveal was beautiful, mysterious, and intriguing. It kept me hooked through the time jump, which did bother me, to be honest. The pacing was generally a bit fast, though I fully understand that these chapters were published online as episodes, which must each capture the audience's attention. I just wish transitional content had been added to make the narrative smoother and less jumpy.
Lady Kirsi's love interest is HANDSOME and drawn in such a cute way. His cheekiness and his slight nervousness around her makes him feel real and developed in his brief appearances. Lucia and Modeus are so PRECIOUS, though. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the commentary on dehumanization and creature rights made for a beautiful beginning for the two. I believe in them. And any other mentions of relationship/s and love interest/s were convincing. I'm not sure how, but in only 200-ish pages, Purpah had me rooting for so many characters.
When it comes to my drawbacks, the main cutesy art style clashes with the darker drawings of intense story moments. That was also my issue tonally; the story is a mix of silly, cute, wholesome, and romantic moments, serious commentary, and a few nerve-racking instances. Again, I understand this was published in an episodic format, and I hesitate to criticize someone's original art. I personally wish there was gradation that would make the story flow better and the art changes appear less jarring. I look forward to Purpah's story development and growth as an author and illustrator, and I really recommend reading this fast and sweet story.
Many thanks to Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press and specifically Ten Speed Graphic and to Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC. I received a limited digital Advanced Reader Copy to read in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC
I love love LOVE Suitor Armor. I started reading this on Webtoon when it first came out and didn't get very far. I love the art and the story so far and I'm glad I was able to read more.
I love the innocence between Lucia and Modeus. There's a childlike wonder that Lucia shows when first interacting with him. And Modeus seems to have more...charm to him than what others can see.
Overall, I LOVED this first volume and I can't wait for more to be published! 10/10 Recommend :)

Very sweet story about a hidden fairy girl falling in love with an enchanted suit of armour. As this is the first in a series it was very character focused rather than plot heavy which I didn't mind, I liked the characters which were setup (particularly the gay knight and squire! Their relationship is cute and I liked that they had a chapter at the end showing how they first met). The lady which Lucia serves under also gives the same vibes as Lottie from Princess and the Frog which I don't mind at all!
It'll be interesting to see how the plot might deepen in future volumes, in this one there was some nice setup but nothing too groundbreaking.

I have loved this comic since it was on Webtoons, and I'm so happy to see a graphic novel coming!
I really enjoy this story; Purpah sets up a thrilling mystery as well as a rich world with a fairy war, a ban on magic, and a fairy hiding in the court of the king. I love the characters: Lucia is kind and patient, always trying to help everyone around her. Kirsi is bubbly and fun, and although she hides it, deeply insecure, which makes for an interesting princess character. Norrix reminds me of a cat: vain and clever but always tired, and his creation, Modeus, is a delightful mystery.
The art is smooth, with lovely little details to bring it to life, and the pacing is excellent. I love this book!

This is such a cute graphic novel with the juxtaposition of a cinnamon roll girl and a dark knight. In this world, humans are in control and are at war with fairies. Lucia is a secret fairy who was rescued by a noble girls father and raised to be the girls handmaiden. Kirsi, her lady, is finally ready to marry the king and they arrive at court where Lucia meets this magically animated suit of armor who begins to take his own personality. It was so fun witnessing the tenderness Modeus has for Lucia, as they explore the castle and she learns more about court life.

This webton was recommended to me by a very trustworthy friend, who said that I would definitely like it. I really enjoyed this enchanting story, which is still very much in the build-up, but does it all very sweetly. It doses the story just right, introducing you to the world and exploring the limits of magic. The only thing I liked more than the personality of our protagonist Lucia was her hair - yes, she too has curly locks. A perfect match for the speechless armour, with which I look forward to more adventures together. I also loved the basic style of the comic, the princess is something phenomenal and the knight in shining armour is just tough. I'm really looking forward to seeing where the story goes with both the romance and the political storylines, as it has a lot of potential.

This is a delightful story about Lucia, a lady in waiting to a princess. Lucia unknown to the people around her is a fairy at a time when the country is a war with fairies. Lucia’s life changes when she meets a magical suit of armour which is brought to life as a knight. This magical suit of armour becomes her champion, protector and friend.
This first magical volume is beautifully drawn and beautifully coloured, and the start of a magical adventure. Definitely a series to continue. Copy provided via Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

A thank you to Netgalley for providing me an Advanced Readers Copy for review.
I was Really happy to see this finally get a physical book, I really enjoyed reading this on webtoons when it was posted and look forward to having a copy on my self.
I recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet and fun light read, about a girl falling for the unexpected, With hilarious side characters and fun art, I look forward to reading future volumes many times over.

Suitor Armor is a captivating graphic novel that sweeps readers into a world of courtly intrigue, magic, and unexpected romance. The story follows Lucia, who finds herself dazzled by the royal tournament she attends with Lady Kirsi. Amidst the spectacle, a magically animated suit of armor, brought to life by the court mage Norrix, enters the fray and immediately captures Lucia’s attention. She names him Modeus, drawn to his dark, mysterious charm.
As outcasts within the kingdom, Lucia and Modeus form a bond that quickly grows into something more, with sparks flying both metaphorically and magically. The romance between them is as thrilling as it is unconventional, making for a truly engaging read.
However, Lucia is hiding a dangerous secret—she’s a fairy, the enemy of the kingdom. As she struggles with her identity and the fear of being exposed, the arrival of a winged visitor adds another layer of mystery and tension to the plot.
The graphics in Suitor Armor are stunning, perfectly capturing the emotions and atmosphere of the story. The visual style complements the narrative beautifully, making the characters and their world come to life in a vivid and memorable way.
Overall, Suitor Armor is a must-read for fans of fantasy and romance. The enchanting storyline, combined with the mesmerizing artwork, makes it a graphic novel that’s hard to put down. I fell in love with Modeus and the art, and I can’t wait for the next volume!

Loved reading this webcomic turned graphic novel! The art style is incredible. Both the characters and the story keep you reading and before you know it, you've finished the novel. My only complaint is that I wish it covered more episodes of the webcomic because I wanted to keep reading more!

I was already a fan of the comic on Webtoon, so it was a delight to read it in traditional comic format. The formatting is beautiful—there's little flairs and impactful full page panels for important moments. Absolute eye candy.
I also appreciate the concept art and bonus chapter. Having the additional insight gives me more appreciation for the comic.

This is a beautifully illustrated graphic novel. I think the colors and the concept are charming. The tone of the story just isn't what I look for.
Lucia is a fairy forced to hide her identity in a country at war with and prejudiced against all of fae kind. As the stepsister/lady-in-waiting of the future queen, she finds herself in the palace as an enchanted suit of armor debuts as a new royal guard and a mysterious fairy infiltrates the grounds in search of said bespelled metal warrior. Lucia begins to find herself drawn in many different directions - towards the arrogant royal mage who has taken a liking to her, towards the fae interloper who might be the key to her past, towards the magical armor who seems to be more aware and intelligent than he should be, and towards the myriad secrets and outcast inhabitants.
The main thing this story made me feel is sad. I feel sad for Lucia living in constant fear and hiding her true identity. I feel sad for the mage seeming to genuinely like and care about her when she obviously does not and will not return his feelings. I feel sad for Modeus being treated as an inanimate, emotionless object: there's a scene at the beginning where he's mockingly ordered to give a flower to someone and he looks around at all the laughing/cringing faces, just trying to find someone who would even let him near enough to offer it, and I legitimately almost cried.
I think this story will be perfect for someone who doesn't already struggle with anthropomorphizing everything.

It's a fine cute fantasy with romance. The art is adorable. I love the style. The colors were also so bright and nice. I was reading on my phone and for once, I didn't have to zoom in to read the words. It's easy to read. The characters are very diverse and are pretty well rounded. I appreciate the female character isn't a pushover and doesn't take sides too easily. I will say, one of the characters developed in a toxic way and I'm worried because no one in the story is calling out the behavior. I hope in the next book, the toxic character is called out in some way. Also, there are so many social conflicts going on that I hope each is brought to a good resolution and not forgotten about. This seems like a very solid start to the series and I hope it develops well.

This was a really cute graphic novel, and I honestly can not wait to see where the following volumes go as we get deeper into the story.

Thank you Netgalley and Ten Speed Graphic for the advance digital copy. “Suitor Armor: Volume 1” by Purpah, was a sweet little fantasy graphic novel. Lucia is a fairy hiding her true nature in a kingdom at war with her kind. Lucia is a very likable protagonist, kind and sweet, she forms a friendship with a magical suit of armor she names, Modeus. Modeus is also very endearing as he grows attached to Lucia. She's the only person who treats him as an individual and not an object, and her love helps him grow. The supporting cast was good, there’s some queer representation, and I’m interested to see how crushes and secrets between them develop. The war with the fairies has me intrigued and I hope it's developed further in the next volume. I would recommend this book to young teens who enjoy creative fantasy romance.
