This was an unexpectedly lovely cozy romance, with great LGBT+ representation.
I loved the illustrations, they are absolutely stunning, the characters are adorable and witty.

I've been a fan of the Webtoon for a while, so to see it in a published format is always a fun time! I love the artwork, the character development, and the world building. Looking forward to more volumes.

Suitor Armor has been a long time favorite of mine. When this came out in 2020 I was invested from the start. So far the story line has been amazing, the artwork is absolutely beautiful and the characters have some much wonder too them. I've enjoyed this webtoon so much. Lucia and Modeus have a special place in my heart. I can't wait to continue this series. I wish nothing but the best to the creator of this series.

An absolutely enchanting beginning to a monster-rom story, fairy-dusted with discourse on self-identity, issues of race/class/queerness, and a healthy dose of humor. With lots curves, big eyes, and flat colors with soft shading, the artwork matches the cute and light tone Suitor Armor carries throughout, even during the heavier discussions and scenes. The main theme is nicely stated by Lucia when she questions why people hurt other simply for being who they are. Very pleased with this first Volume, my only complaint being that it felt too short. I can't wait for the next volumes--no, seriously, I've already added them to my cart for pre-order--to see where Lucia and Modeus' adventures take us!

I am a big Webtoon comic lover, so anytime I see that one of them is getting a physical book I scream with absolute joy and know I need to get my hands on a copy!

Suitor Armor is new to me, but I was instantly interested in the fantasy/romance themes and the cover. I am a big romantasy reader in general, so seeing that this book would feature an enchanted suit of armor, fairies, a war, castles, and royalty, I immediately needed this story in my life. This volume includes episodes 1 through 17, so my review will be based on just those.

That cover screams opposites attract romance, perhaps with a side of dark romance, which I am all about! I am a romance reader first and foremost, so when you show me size difference, a helmet with horns, and juxtaposing FMC and MMC, my heart weeps to read it!! The cover is definitely a sign of things to come as the whole volume has incredibly beautiful artwork, a FMC who is empathetic and much more than she seems, a big baddie MMC who has a soft spot for the FMC, and so many secrets (romantic and other)!

I loved watching Modeus and Lucia spend time together, especially with him being her guard because it gives a protector vibe which is perfect for the aesthetic. Even better was when we watched Modeus learn how to do new things, showing that he may be more than a hunk of metal after all.

I love the backdrop of the war, especially knowing that our FMC, the royal Lady-in-waiting, is one of the fairies they are waging war against. I can’t wait to learn more about the intruder as I feel this will help our FMC to learn more about the fairies and where she comes from. I also can’t wait to see more of Sir Baynard and his squire Peres (I absolutely adore both of them!), Court Mage Norrix who invented Modeus (who I’m not sure I trust too much but I’m not sure why), and Lady Kirsi (who I feel will surprise us at least once).

I very much enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out more episodes on Webtoons!!

This charming graphic novel pairs a fairy with an enchanted suit of armor for a sweet, slow romance, setting the stage for adventure in future volumes. Lucia is instantly lovable, and both she and the other characters gain depth and complexity as the story progresses. The art intertwines perfectly with the text to create action and emotion, with small touches like a lightly-penciled "lean" perfectly conveying the movement of someone peeking around a corner, or a bold "eye contact" creating a line between two adversaries squaring off. The story's steady pace and intriguing connections between characters will leave readers satisfied and eagerly awaiting Volume Two.

This was a great start to the series (I definitely want to continue it!) - the art was really well done and I adored the friendship between Lucia and Kirsi. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I thought this was super cute and can't wait to read more! I want to know what happens next with Lucia and her secret as well as the armor. It does remind me of "Nothing Special" on Webtoon. There's romance, but also mystery and adventure. I will definitely continue reading!

Thank you, NetGalley for the advanced copy!

I've been following this comic on WebToon for some time now. I am so excited to see it in print.

The art style added to the uniqueness of the story. I enjoyed the world immensely. I look forward to seeing more character growth as their histories are uncovered.

To start off the artwork is absolutely stunning.
There are pages in here that i would frame and hang on my wall.

I love the friendship between the future queen kristi and her lady in waiting lucia. A good comparison is like the friendship between the two FMCs in princess and the frog. The friendship between the two of them is so cute and pure. you can tell that they truly do love eachother.

Then you get big scarry looking magical armor man, and every one presumes he has no feelings or thoughts. In comes lucia who can see beyond his outer shell and can tell there is more than meets the eye.

Lucia her self is more than meets the eye.

The story keeps building and creating more of a world around itself. The characters are bright and loveable. Lucia is very relatable, she wants more than what she is , but wants to be grateful for what she has. She is gifted in ways beyond others can see. Will her new friend the kingdom mage understand her full potential? Will she find out what makes the Armor tick? will we find out what started the war that has every one so scare of magic and fae? How did Quinn find out about the suit, and why do they want it so bad? I have so many questions.

Also, Baynard is one of my favorite characters, theres not once scene hes in where i wasnt giggling ( think of Flynn Ryder but with more flair ). The banter between him and Norrix is top notch, more so towards the last 2/3rds of the book.

This light and very cute story really will resonate with those who feel different and that they may not belong. They grow in to a found family and accept each other. I really cant wait to read more. I can see all the story lines starting to line up and how they will start to create an even bigger more complex story and character growth.

Thank you Netgalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for providing me an ARC for an honest review.

Honestly, I quite enjoyed this story, and I'm really curious as to where it will go next. I think the idea of the armor growing into a being in it's own right, and falling in love, perhaps, is super interesting, and we have a dramatic setup for a conflict between the suit and it's maker over Lucia, I can feel it.

I'm also super curious as to what's going on with the fairies in this world, and what happens next with that. Can't wait to read the next issue.

Also, Lucia's wings, while we don't see them much, are absolutely beautiful, but man am I stressed for what I'm sure is an inevitable reveal.

Since I've been reading some manga lately, I thought I'd review this graphic novel when it came up on Netgalley. It's not manga; it's Western, but it has some of the same feel as a fantasy manga.

Humans and fairies are at war, and so Lucia, a fairy girl, has to keep her wings hidden while she takes care of her mistress, the rather airheaded but non-toxic young betrothed of the serious, somewhat older king. Her mistress's father has apparently rescued her, in circumstances that will doubtless get a flashback in due course (not in this volume, though).

Meanwhile, the arrogant royal wizard has created an animated suit of armour, which defeats the previously undefeated champion knight (much to the knight's fury and humiliation; his squire has a tough job keeping him from going completely off the deep end, but he's not actually a bad person). The armour gives the rose that is the traditional prize for winning the tournament to Lucia, who starts treating the enchanted object as a person; he then starts growing into the role. Lucia discovers that she is able to use powerful magic, and does so while fairy spies are in the castle. We also get a revelation about the relationship between the knight and the squire. Nearly everyone is now keeping secrets from at least someone, and while nobody (apart from the spies) is an outright antagonist - and even they are somewhat sympathetic - differing perspectives and agendas combined with the secrets do put some of them at odds, while forging alliances among others.

Because this is Volume 1, it's mainly setup, rather than anything being at all resolved by the end. That means that it's mainly potential, not yet realized, and that, in turn, makes it difficult to evaluate. So far, none of the characters have a great deal of depth, but it's early days, and I suspect there could also be more tension and drama to come than we see in this initial volume. I'd say it's promising enough to keep reading, but not an instant favourite.

(By publisher request, review held back until the week of publication.)

This was so cute! The art style was so cozy and really suits the overall vibe of the story - which seems to be a sweet romance between a fairy in hiding and a sentient suit of armor (yes, you read that correctly and I promise that he is swoon worthy and you would fall in love with him okay bye). Overall, this volume did a really excellent job at introducing its readers to the world, the world's history, the characters and the relationships between them. I am so intrigued by all the romances and the underlying plot that was sprinkled in here that I will definitely be looking out for the next volume!

This was such a blast to read from beginning to end. It is so funny and sweet and romantic. I love when a story combines a bit of seriousness with humor. It creates this beautiful dance and because you are so in tuned with and care about what’s going on the humor hits even deeper.

Seeing this big suit of Armor bumble around and start giving so much sass, yet also has this fierce connection and need to protect Lucia was awesome to read about. Lucia is living a life as an imposter. Yet, she doesn’t know anything about what it means to be a fairy or why fairies and humans are even at odds.

My favorite side characters in this webtoon are the cute gay couple. They have this sassy relationship with the suit of armor. The way they also love each other is so wholesome and adorable.

If you need an uplifting read that will make you laugh Suitor Armor is the perfect read!

Now, this was just charming! And there appears to be a fair amount of worldbuilding to still discover past this first volume, which has me intrigued.

Orphaned at a young age, Lucia has spent most of her life as Lady-in-Waiting to the future queen, Kirsi. Luckily, the pair are good friends, and Kirsi is highly motivated to pair her attendant off with a good man. Really, short of the King himself, Lucia could pick any man in the kingdom!

But what if she doesn’t pick a man?

Not, like. In the lesbian way.

In the monster-lover way.

What we’re set up with is an interesting love triangle: an automaton and its creator, both smitten with the young woman.

But beyond the romance of the story, there’s also this world working in the background. The kingdom (as yet unnamed in what I’ve read) is at war with the fairies. The King’s knight champion is romantically paired with the perfectly wrong person. Magic is outlawed, and there’s a vague threat of necromancy and human sacrifice. And the king is brooding over something.

This is going on my webtoon list! I’m glad I was picked by the publisher for an ARC to review.

I discovered this story on Webtoon at first, but I never had the time to read it. Now it's done lol. I really appreciate the character design and the detail put in the background ! The story is really original, and I want to know more about the war between Fairies and Humans. And can we talk about Laz ? She is adorable ToT really, and I love her chara-desing so much with the different shades of blue !! I'm really curious about the reason she and Quinn infiltrated the castle.

Thank you, Netgalley and Ten Speed Press for this e-book.

Cute and lighthearted. I enjoyed the diverse characters and the fast-paced plot.

The ending was a bit on the abrupt side. I was fully invested in the dynamic between the magical armor and Lady Lucia. So, I was disappointed that the story ended before the final progression of their relationship. I guess I'll have to wait for Volume 2. ;)

A good graphic novel with a quick pace, diverse characters, and a lighthearted tone.

SPOILERS TO FOLLOW

OH MY GOSHHHH!!!! It was so damn cute. I'd heard about this webcomic when I was reading a lot on webtoons but never got around to reading it myself. I thought it was a retelling of the Beauty and the Beast trope and I guess it kind of can be if you squint at it but so far it has a lot more going on in the plot than what I first thought. I'm really interested in seeing where this goes and if Modeus becomes more powerful because of all the magic he has. I'm also interested to see how Lucia will be able to hide her secret now that she's a mage's apprentice. The little bonus chapter of Peres and Baynard was so cute too I love them.

This was such a cute cozy graphic novel, I really liked it. I loved the main characters and I am very excited to see how the friendships and love interest develop in the future volumes. This is a perfect cute quick read with an adorable art style. Highly recommend!

Thanks to Netgalley and Ten Speed Press for granting me access in exchange for an honest review.

A very cute comic with some intriguingly darker undercurrents - dehumanization through degendering, on-going conflict with faeries, a ban on magic save for select state-recognized mages. So far the relationship between our two cover leads is still innocent with a bit of crushing going on, both of them still coming into their own powers and with plenty of room to move forward in their own arcs. The remaining cast of characters also feel sketched with room for future volumes to further expand on them. Plus, I appreciate the supporting gay rep (and Lucia's ambivalence on what her own sexuality is being so relatably queer as well)!

I'm very intrigued to see where this romance and the world's politics will head next!
