Reccomend for anyone who loves Middle-ages fantasy and cozy romances
This volume has Chapters 1-17 of the webtoon comic. A bonus chapter featuring Baynard and Peres first meeting is also included.
This is a beautifully illustrated story about a lady-in-waiting and a magical suit of armor. Lucia was a sweet woman who is just trying to help Lady Kirsi prepare for her upcoming wedding. She is also hiding a huge secret from everyone that could lead to her death. Everything changes for her when she attends a tournament with Lady Kirsi and meets a magically animated suit of armor that was brought to life by the court mage, Norrix.
Lucia and Modeus’ story is just getting started in this volume. While this only gives us a hint at what might come between these two, I am already hooked and want to know more. I love how Lucia is so accepting of everyone and requires Norrix and others to treat Modeus as a person, not a thing. I also love how she is making friends with Baynard and Peres, and accepting them for who they are.
Overall, this was a great first volume for a series. I can't wait to see what will happen next with these two and with Lucia’s upcoming training, especially when Lucia is hiding such a dangerous secret.
I had the pleasure of reading this while it was being released on webtoon and I am so happy that its being turned into a book! I adore this story, and I truly think that the author is so so talented. The magic and deception in this story is wild and captivating, and I cant wait to read even more!
I love the illustrations of this Graphic Novel, they are adorable and relatable. The drawings are very detailed. The storyline is a setup for the rest of tye story, which I definitely want to read. This first book has made me curious for the rest of the story. I'm looking forward to the development of Modeus and how Lucia will further grow in her new role.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.
Review to come at week of publication as requested by the publisher.
I have been following Modeus and Lucia’s story on Webtoon from ages now, and coming across it in a published volume was the bestest of all surprises. I absolutely love the author’s graphics, the romantasy plotline, and how fleshed out all the characters are.
Come for the graphics, and you’d be happily staying for the romance, the plot, and honestly HOW HOT THE ENCHANTED SUIT OF ARMOUR IS!!!
I can’t wait for the new volume to release and for us readers to get the answers to all the questions we have gathered from this.
FIVE STARS OVERALL!

This was such a fun and cute read. I love the story line and the graphics were great. I like how Lucia is understanding of differences in people and magic things. I like all the characters and wanted to learn more about each of them.
I enjoyed reading this and hated when it came to an end. I can’t wait for the volume to come out. Also, the bonus chapter… I can’t wait to find out more about their past.
This is such a cute story.
I've read it in webtoons, and so happy to see it in a new format.
A great story of being true to yourself!
Title: Suitor Armor
Author: Purpah
Rating: ★★★★
While humans and fairies are at war beyond the castle walls, Lucia dedicates her life to preparing Lady Kirsi for her upcoming wedding to King Reimund. Lucia’s mundane court life takes a dazzling turn when she accompanies Lady Kirsi to a royal tournament, showcasing the kingdom's brave knights in a competition of strength and wit.
Enter Modeus, a magically animated suit of armour brought to life by the court mage Norrix’s complicated enchantment spell. Modeus challenges the winning knight, captivating Lucia with his dark, mysterious charm. She lovingly names him Modeus, and their mutual status as outcasts in the kingdom forges a thrilling connection between them. As sparks fly—both metaphorical and magical—their bond deepens.
However, Lucia harbors a dangerous secret: she is a fairy, the enemy of the humans. Terrified of being exposed, she struggles with her identity, especially when a winged visitor infiltrates the castle for unknown reasons.
Suitor Armor, Volume 1 by Purpah is a mesmerizing start to a new series. The world-building is rich, the characters are deeply engaging, and the interplay between romance and mystery keeps readers hooked. Lucia and Modeus’s connection is both heartwarming and intriguing, promising much more in the volumes to come.
If you’re a fan of romantasy, intriguing secrets, and magical adventures, Suitor Armor is a must-read. The art is stunning, the story captivating, and the cliffhangers will leave you eagerly awaiting the next instalment. Absolutely loved this—highly recommended for anyone looking for a great start to a new series.
Thank you to The Publisher Ten Speed Graphic, the author Purpah & Netgalley for an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.
I would like to thank NetGalley for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I read this back when it was just a webtoon, and I loved it, but then I lost the link and couldn't remember the name. Well, I requested this one because it looked cute and lo and behold, it's the one I had started reading online!!
I love the dynamic between Lucia and Modeus. I can already tell there's going to be such a cute romance between the two of them in the future. The bonus chapter at the end was cute -- is shows a young Peres meeting Baynard, and I love their dynamic. The bonus art was also absolutely beautiful.
In fact, what drew me in was the art. I think it's beautiful and cute, and I love the way the magic is drawn.
Can't wait to continue reading this!!
i have read this on webtoon and it is incredible! the art, the story, and the pacing were all splendid in my opinion and experience. come to think of it, it is quite a fast read as you get immersed in their world and adventures! definitely a must read for me <3
I have been reading Suitor Armor since it was first featured on the Webtoon app so I was already over the moon to see it coming to print but I was BLOWN AWAY by the quality of this ARC! The new chibis at the beginning of each chapter, the formatting pages, and the layout conversion are all spectacular and I WILL be picking up a copy on release! <3
Wow! I really loved this!
A girl who has to hide part of her identity and living suit of armor meet through their work in a castle, and little by little they get to know each other. This introductory volume did a great job of setting the scene for the story, giving us enough background on all of the characters to keep you interested but not enough that the story is predictable. I'm really interested to continue this and see where the story goes. I also love the art style, it's very different from anything I've seen recently, and the facial expressions on the characters are really well done. Definitely would recommend this for anyone that loves fantasy that's a bit more lighthearted.
Thank you to Net Galley and Ten Speed for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy.
Not gonna lie. I read this when it first came out on WebToons. Excellent series and I really enjoyed revisiting it. :D
Lucia has a secret that she has to hide, but she is ladies maid to the woman who will become the new queen. So when a suit of armor is brought to life and she gets a chance to learn about magic, she jumps at it.
Suitor Armor has been on my Webtoons TBR for far too long, so I was delighted to see it as a potential ARC read through Netgalley. I read through this delightful first volume in one evening, and it was, overall very enjoyable. There are strong Beauty and the Beast and Full Metal Alchemist vibes, and several other nods to differing fandoms. That being said, Suitor Armor stands on its own with diverse and intriguing characters.
The first volume of Suitor Armor lays the base for a much longer, complicated story. Delightful characters, interesting dynamics, and plenty of questions comprised this book, and I am looking forward to reading more. Why are the fairies at war with the humans? What will happen to each character when their secrets are finally revealed? How will this Beauty and the Beast-esque tale end? Just exactly how will that budding love triangle play out? Will I get to see more of those stunning wings? My prime thought after indulging in this lovely webtoon was more questions were peaked than answered, but I enjoyed the book enough to pursue future volumes.
**3.70 Stars**
Humans and Fairies are at war, which makes things kinda awkward for Lucia (a fairy) who as a child was adopted by the king and acts as the lady in waiting for the princess. When a mysterious hollowed suit of Armor arrives at the castle to compete in a tournament Lucia strikes up an unlikely bond with him. But soon after she's reminded just what the people she loves thinks of fairies.
This was a nice entry into this world, not a huge amount happened but it piqued my interest as to how the story is going to process! I'm very curious to see if a romance is destined between Lucia and Mr Armor, but so far I appreciate the gay side couple!
The art is also really beautiful which makes it a pleasure to flick through! I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for volume 2.
Thank you to NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I started following Suitor Armor's story on Webtoon since it first came out, and it's great to see all these titles coming out in physical format.
I love Lucia and her relationship with Mordeus gives tenderness, although this first volume is 17 chapters and we are just touching the surface.
The story from the beginning is complex for everything that happens, knowing the past of each character and it does feel different to be able to see all the images on pages and of great quality.
What I hope is that this gives the opportunity for more series to be known and that Suitor Armor reaches into other languages.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ten Speed Graphic for the opportunity to read this ARC.
