An absolutely charming graphic novel set within a Medieval like realm where humans are at war with fairy-kind, but when a young fairy girl is brought into the household of the future queen, she soon learns that outcasts can come in all shapes and sizes.
Lucia’s time at court takes a dazzling turn when she accompanies Lady Kirsi to a royal tournament that calls together all of the kingdom's brave knights for a competition of strength and wit. A magically animated suit of armor, brought to life by Norrix the court mage's complicated enchantment spell, enters the ring and challenges the winning knight. Lucia is immediately attracted to the armor's dark, mysterious charm and lovingly names him Modeus. Bonded by their mutual status as outcasts within the kingdom, the two begin to develop an unlikely yet thrilling connection and sparks (both metaphorical and magical) fly.
This is a very sweet and wholesome story with a lot of mysteries forming in volume 1 that I'm eager to see resolved in future installments. Lucia is a young and naive protagonist but with a kind heart and eager curiosity when it comes to learning magic. Her budding relationship with Modeus seems like it could lean into something romantic, but I'm almost hoping that this just becomes a very strong and loving friendship.
The illustrations were equally charming and fit with the story perfectly. While we do see very few fairies in this volume, I do hope to see more in future installments. Their illustrations were the best by far.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

What an interesting concept! I love the mix of magic, fantasy, and court intrigue. Lucia is easy to root for, and I love that she is open-minded to all the possibilities of what could happen with this magic. I can't wait to read the rest!

This was super cute (as a certified Monster Lover TM) and the art style reminds me of steven universe for some reason! I'm really looking forward to the rest of the graphic novels, especially to see if the Mage gets more attention (idk how to do eyeball emojis on desktop)

Very cute art that reminds me a lil of Steven Universe almost. Engaging story with well blocked scenes. I enjoyed this!

This first book is a really good introduction for the serie, can't wait to read the next ones !
Lucia is a nice and soft character you get attached to. And Modeus is a pure creature learning anything about life and relationships. I feel like they gonna be someone becoming a villain and I'm ready to hate them..!
Beautiful pages, loved the colors and how they'd been used.

I read this when it was originally posted on WebToon and I still adore this story so much. I love the art style and the colors the artist uses, and the gentle and kind way it sees personhood and identity. I can’t wait to read more of this! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

I have loved this comic since it was first published on WEBTOON. The writing is so good, and the art is cute and unique. I am very invested in the characters and the story, and the author does an excellent job at drawing you in and keeping you hooked. I was surprised how little of the story is included in this volume. I hope more volumes will be forthcoming because we haven’t even gotten to the good stuff yet!

Suitor Armour VOLUME 1 by Purpah
Thank you to NetGalley, Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press and the author for the opportunity to review this work and provide my unbiased opinion.
I loved the chance to review an illustrated comic as an advance reader and thoroughly enjoyed Suitor Armour. Set in a fantasy realm, our main characters are young ladies living in a medieval castle. Kirsi and her Lady in Waiting, Lucia, have been friends from childhood since Kirsi’s father brought the bedraggled young child home with him. Lucia, who spends each day masquerading as human, is desperate to keep her pointed ears and fluttering wings a secret (even from Kirsi), especially as the Fairie Wars continue.
I won’t include any spoilers, but the story comprises all my favourite fairytale elements: kings, knights, sneaky mages, magic and budding romance.
I loved the artwork in this book! It was a fantastic combination of toon/comic style and detailed watercolours, and the vibrant colours and nods to other works was so impressive. I thought Kirsi & Lucia’s friendship was adorable and laughed out loud in so many places.
As a fan of other successful webtoons, like Lore Olympus, I am so enthused to see the fantasy genre depicted in such a standout way. Can’t wait for more!
My review will be published on Goodreads on publication week as per publishers request.

4 stars for me. Such a good story. Loved the characters, the plot, the storyline was impecable. It was immaculate. Super well written, super lovely to read.

It was a bit slow at first but as the story went on I couldn’t stop reading. This is a very well written, and illustrated comic. I absolutely loved the characters and the world building. I can’t wait to read more!
4.5⭐️

This was such a fun graphic novel! I absolutely loved the art style and the characters were great.
I'm looking forward to reading more about this story and finding out where we are going with Lucia's magic training.

This was such an adorable read, I'm so glad more webtoons are getting print releases! The characters are relatable, adorable, and funny and I cannot wait to see more of them! The plot and world building are top notch, any fantasy fan will love this series!

This was adorable! The world is basic but interesting and there's no info dumping.
The plot is very engaging and really fun. The characters are so cute and likable and I thought the romance would be weird but it was actually very cute and this was just a build up to it. The FMC is sweet and I really want to know more about her and being a fairy.
I love graphic novels but I find that the pacing can be off in most of them but I felt it was perfect here. This is one of the first times I've felt fully immersed in a GN, the story had a great flow.
The art is absolutely gorgeous. It is so captivating and really conveys the emotions of the characters, the beauty of the setting and the intensity of the action. It's just the cutest I loved it!
I loved the bonus chapter about Peres and Baynard and the gay rep, I can't wait to read more about all of these characters!

Suitor Armor has a wonderfully diverse cast of characters and the storyline is very intriguing! The author has even been able to give a huge and loving personality to a suit of armor (whom I absolutely adore). I initially read this series in its original webcomic format and promptly pre-ordered the physical copy as soon as it became available! I can't wait to see how the story progresses as our gentle heroine, Lucia, discovers more about her past and how her relationship with Modeus blooms.

I'm OBSESSED! Suitor Armor follows fairy Lucia as she gets to know an enchanted suit of armor during her time at court as a lady-in-waiting. The only problem - the humans hate fairies. I absolutely loved the illustrations, characters, and story. I was hooked from the first page and was genuinely disappointed when it ended. I cannot wait for future volumes!
I received an ARC from Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press | Ten Speed Graphic via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 thanks to NetGalley for the early preview of this adorable webtoon!
I’ll start off by saying I love the general idea and the artwork! The coloration is beautiful and the general theme is interesting.
My lowered rating comes just from the fact that everything for me feels so heavily influenced from other works that it clouds my acknowledgement of this work. The giant suit of armor reminds me of Full Metal Alchemist which is fine but the fact there’s a whole scene where the mage takes apart the arm and asks Lucia to draw symbols before he reattaches it is an actual scene in the other anime.
Minor reference of the pixie reminding me of TinkerBell just in attitude alone which I’m sure could change as the story progresses.
Overall I did love this webtoon and I look forward to the continuation of it!

I was sent this by the author for review, such a fast paced graphic novel and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I love our main character and I'm intrigued to see where her story goes.

This series is so cute and sweet! I love the artwork, and the relationship between Lucia and Modeus is adorable. The only disappointment was how quickly the book ended. 😭 I might have to start reading it on Webtoons again. 😂 I do, however, think this series looks even better unscrolled than it did as a webtoon.

I have been following this webtoon since its early days, and to see it coming out in this format is extremely exciting. I think that were this story shines is in its characters, that although are not necessarily too deep or complex, they are compelling and charming, and they are all very interesting. I, personally do not care about the slow burn between Modeus and Lucia, but I love the development of Modeus as the plot progresses and how he becomes more "cognizant" as the plot progresses. This first volumes is beautifully illustrated, and I truly just enjoy this webtoon.

I’ve loved this series ever since it orginally came out on Webtoon, and i’m so happy to see the author getting the recognition they deserve.
Suitor Armor is a wonderful fantasy showcasing an array of characters and a lovely artstyle. I recommend it to anyone!
