My thanks to Net Galley and William Morrow for this book but I could not finish it. The Plot was dragging, could not connect to the characters. They seemed very immature. I kept asking myself when is this going to pick.up? Time to move on.
This was a pretty solid thriller, though a little too slow-paced for my liking. I enjoyed the exotic setting, and the ending was fairly satisfying, if unsettling. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was enjoyable. I enjoyed most the location setting and relationship dynamics. How the story progressed it peeled back enough of each persons story lines to stay interested and resulted in a fast read. I am an avid thriller reader so the ending was not surprising to me at all. However i think there could have been more built up around holly blackmailing the other character at the end. Like some character building throughout the book to show that she may not be on the up and up, or if it resulted in any additional blackmail other than the apartment. Again not a literary expert so may not be necessary details but just what I came away thinking about. I would have loved to have read this book on a beach vacation and not heading into fall, but I look forward to this book coming out and seeing all the positive reviews.
This was my first read by this author and I hate to say it, but I didn't really enjoy it. I think it dragged a lot for it to be a thriller and I was looking for more excitement.
First time with this author, and it wasn't too bad of a thriller.
I personally don't mind slower thrillers, but I know that makes or breaks for some, so be warned, this is not one of those that's going to have you breathing hard every second, but it's absolutely a great read.
If you like, what I like to call locked room mysteries, where you have a group of people some how trapped stuck or shoved together in a scenario and they are getting picked off, this is for you.

✨Two couples take the trip of a lifetime to Thailand, navigating through the bustling streets of Bangkok. Just when they feel like they can relax and unwind, they find that they can’t. Someone has been watching their every move.
✨Suspicious things start happening; belongings go missing, and someone with a sordid history keeps reappearing and is hesitant to leave them alone.
✨In a thrilling web of lies, murder, and less than desirable pasts, it’s a reminder that everything has a price, and begs the question, just how well do you know your friends?
✨This was a slow suspenseful burn, and reminded me a lot of the TV show The White Lotus. I loved the travel piece as well as the thriller aspect. This was perfectly paced, kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t put it down! Read this now!!

A fantastic book to see the last days of summer off. How well do you really know your friends? When four friends take the trip of a lifetime together, their bonds are put to the test. This is the perfect book to transition from summer to fall!
What. A. Trip. 🧳
This book was the perfect amount of thrill! A vacation that turns deadly on a group of four friends? Secrets from the past? Multiple POV? This book has it all.
The writing style was simple and sweet, which made this an easy read. The characters were semi developed, the downfall being that there were multiple things being repeated often.
Overall, this a great plot. Very unique.

Two couples embark on a nice vacation - what could possibly go wrong? A holiday full of lies and betrayal with a dash of humor.
I loved the different POV’s. The banter between the friends was the most enjoyable part of the writing for me. I do wish we got more of Theo’s perspective, especially towards the end.
The book really started to pick up about a third through, and from there I could not stop. At one point, the author bamboozled me so hard I had to do a double take.
I devoured this book. It was such an easy, enjoyable read.
The trip gave what it was supposed to give; the premise is simple: two couples go to Thailand and have a dreadful time; the characters are exciting, and there’s a lot of tension between their outward selves and their inner dialogue,
In addition to the thriller parts of the book, these characters are foolish travelers. For example, who wears a Rolex to a foreign country? They stressed me out, but it added to the suspense.
The entire book had excellent pacing, and the ending felt like icing on the cake.
Thanks for the advance review copy.
I’ll start by saying that it was a little lackluster for me. I loved the plot of the book and was so wishing it would have delivered but I felt like it fell short. The summary tells us that a murder happens while two couples are on vacation. However, I just kept waiting and waiting for this murder. It didn’t end up happening until towards the end of the book and by then there wasn’t much of the trip left to be ruined (as the summary states).
Up until the murder, which is most of the book, there is some tension and you can feel where the book is headed. I found myself thinking “okay we get it…” a couple of times. The characters were a little naive and I just wanted more from them. The past of one of the characters is explained eventually and that does add a little bit of interest to the story.
The ending wraps up quickly and one piece of it is kind of random. But the setting she chose was beautiful and interesting. It took me about a day to finish so it’s definitely a quick read! I’ll continue to try others by Phoebe Morgan.

The Trip has a promising premise that sadly didn't fully take off for me.
I loved the setting and the sense of adventure and possibility in the beginning of the book. There were clues early on that several characters were keeping secrets, and initially, this had me very intrigued. A thriller combining a friend group, secrets, and an exotic setting is one of my favorite story setups. Unfortunately, this story seemed to get lost somewhere between a travel dairy type story and actual thriller. The mystery wasn't particularly mysterious, and we're given a few details about each character, such as financial status, that are repeated over and over. There's a lot of time devoted to things that didn't further the plot and instead kept the story from gaining momentum.
I really wanted to love this book since I've enjoyed past books from this author, but slow pacing and a mystery that didn't hold my interest overshadowed the unique setting and premise that first pulled me in.
This was a great beach read! Interesting, well-paced, and not too complex. I enjoyed it, and would read other books by this author.
Great book overall! I liked the plot and the way that the author moved the plot along. Kept me reading throughout and curious as to what happens next.
Thank You Netgalley and William Morrow Paperbacks for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
This was a very slow read for me as I struggled to get thru it. Ending was very predictable and not much jumped out.
The author did a fair job getting us to know the 2 couples; rich newly weds Sakia & Theo and broke couple Holly & Lucas; because the financial standings was mentioned in almost every chapter. It comes in to play way to much and you lose the luster of the actual couple identities.
They build up of scenery in Thailand made you feel like you could really be there with them, but a trip I would never want to be on.
2.75/5 ⭐️
After being so excited in the first couple of chapters, this book did not meet my expectations. The plot, while holding an underlying tension, fell flat. The interactions between the two couples felt like something that could have made a very intense, very interesting plot, but I did not feel that we continued to explore the relationships. Too many "outsiders" and other cast were brought in without actually needing to be included.
Overall, the book left much to be desired.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!
While I enjoyed the multiple POV's, the characters themselves were a bit boring. The story was far more depressing than I expected. Very little is uncovered about the villain, and the pace is slow. This might have worked better as a shorter novel. Minimal character development made it hard to connect with anyone. While there were a couple unexpected twists, many plot points were predictable.
This is an excellent thriller - a fast read that I absolutely enjoyed. I loved the Thai setting, the well-drawn, flawed characters, the interaction among them, and the masterful buildup of suspense. I was surprised more than a few times right up to the very end. If you’re looking for a gripping thriller or just a wander through one of the most fascinating places in the world, then this book is for you! Let's parachute in...
Everyone, pack your bags and fasten your seat belts for a turbulent journey on a holiday gone terribly wrong. Set in the chaotic streets and idyllic landscapes of Thailand, ’The Trip’ is sure to keep you on the edge of your beach chair!
Four friends become increasingly paranoid as a variety of unsettling events unfold. Then they meet an enigmatic stranger who threatens to turn their dream getaway into a nightmare. Tensions rise like the tropical heat as some of the friends become suspicious, not knowing the deadly secrets the others have to hide.
So pack your sunscreen and suspicions - this is one holiday where the baggage is emotional, the souvenirs are sinister, and the return trip might just be a one-way ticket!!
P.S. Props to the author for bringing Bangkok and Thailand’s beautiful beaches to vivid life. The details were authentic, from the busy streets, the beautiful temples, the food at the outdoor market, to the everyday interactions between tourists and locals. As a reader, I got lost in a trip of my own through these pages. If you’ve never been to Thailand and would like a taste of what the country is like, then this book is a great place to start!

This was a fast, gripping page-turner beach read with an immersive vacation setting. Four friends set off for a holiday in Thailand, and one is hiding a very big secret that comes back to haunt the group, and the keeper of the secret.. If you like vacation thrillers and morally complex characters, you will love this one.
Two couples, the greatest of friends, go on a couples vacation to Thailand. There the fun, mystery, mayhem, and murder occurs. The twists and turns kept me interested but I did feel like I struggled to get through it at times. I did enjoy the plot and the ending!
