In the latest novel in Bartlett’s Cornish Country Hospital series, readers reunite with Isla, Aidan, Jase, and the rest of the cast of characters after tragedy rocks Isla’s world with the death of her father. Alternating between Aidan and Isla, readers follow Isla’s desire to honor her father by bringing joy and meaning to someone else, while Aidan and Jase want a family of their own, especially since Aidan’s relationship with his father and family is still strained. When Isla offers her help, Aidan and Jase can’t believe it and start planning for their future and their family. However, changes beyond their control force Isla to face her fears and delay Aidan and Jase’s dream, changing their relationship and isolating Isla from her friends and family, all of whom seem so happy. With charming characters and a cozy location, readers will enjoy returning to the Cornish Country Hospital and reuniting with Isla, Aidan, and Jase. The emotional stakes of this novel are high, and readers with traumatic incidents related to fertility, adoption, and cancer may want to steer clear of this book if such content is triggering. Overall a strong and emotional novel, Bartlett’s prose and characters are charming. Well-meaning, supportive, and strong in the face of personal trouble and tragedy.

A Found Family at the Cornish Country Hospital is the third book in Jo Bartlett latest series. I fell in love with the first two books, so when I was offered the opportunity to read it early, I jumped at the chance!

This book centres around two characters, who’s stories are intertwined - Isla, a kind hearted, selfless nurse who wants to find a way to honour her father’s memory, and Aidan - Isla’s coworker who’s own family history, makes him fearful of starting a family of his own with his husband. Key elements include:
☑️ Found family (shock)
☑️ Second chances
☑️ Friends to lovers
☑️ Grief

Trigger warning for those who might be concerned, this book does deal with some pretty heavy themes, like death, severe/terminal health conditions and the LGBTQIA+ experience, so if you think these might be harmful to your own health, you may want to skip this one!

I really wanted to love this book, as I feel like the messaging and the two stories are so important, but I feel like the execution of this one didn’t hit the mark. Since both Isla and Aidan’s stories were quite dense, the writing did a lot more telling than showing at times, and the themes were sometimes a little too overstated and didn’t let the reader make the connection on their own.

I felt like the romance between Isla and her love interest was really rushed, and it almost felt like it was a late addition, so I didn’t really care so much about their story and I wanted to know more about how Aidan and his husband dealt with all the challenges - particularly around Aidan’s family. It almost felt like this should’ve been two books and readers could have read it as a tandem read!

However, as always, Jo did a fantastic job of reconnecting the audience with their favourite characters - we get to hear from Danni and Esther again - and the ever sassy Gwen. The world she has built feels so rich and it truly does feel like you’re coming home. I just wish the story had perhaps focused on less major plot elements and allowed the reader to draw connections when it came to the theme - as I think it would’ve allowed for a more thoughtful read, given the complexity of the issues that were discussed.

Overall though, a really sweet, thoughtful book that recognises the importance of having loved ones around you throughout life’s challenges set against the beautiful Cornish countryside.

Thank you to Jo, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this early and provide a review!

The third book in The Cornish Country Hospital series, A Found Family at the Cornish County Hospital by the incredibly talented Jo Bartlett, introduces a touching narrative.

This installment focuses on Isla, an A&E nurse on a mission to honour her late father, and Aidan, another A&E nurse embarking on the journey to parenthood with his husband Jase.

The story evokes emotions and sheds light on the struggles faced by some families in accepting their children for who they are. Jo's meticulous attention to detail brings the characters to life, making them feel like friends you haven't met yet, while her vivid descriptions of settings transport you to those places.

Waiting for book four feels like an eternity, as the desire to continue the journey with these characters grows. Secure your copy now and delve into this captivating story.

Another wonderful story from Jo Bartlett. I’ve read all the Cornish Country Hospital books and can’t wait for the next one. I enjoyed the messages of A Found Family: it’s okay to be vulnerable and open to love and support from those around you; accepting that some things are out of your control; change is always possible; and finally that it’s important to try and appreciate each day despite what you may be going through. I’d absolutely recommend this to my friends and family.

I thought this was another amazing read by Jo Bartlett. Although there was a lot of talk about diseases, cancer etc it was quite triggering in places and also quite upsetting but it was still a fab read and I struggled to put it down.

It’s definitely not as lighthearted as the first but still great none the less. Hope there’s another in the series.

Jo Bartlett I don’t know how she does it. Another fantastic book in The Cornish Hospital Series
Isla is an A&E nurse in Port Kara and when she finds out her fellow nurse Aidan and his husband Jase are planning to start a family Isla steps in.
After losing her dad to MND Isla wants to give something back in his memory and what better way than to help her friends have a baby.
The three of them become very close and Isla quickly becomes part of the family leading to her becoming friends with Jase’s nephew Reuben.
When things start to progress for the trio a shock blow changes everything.
Jo teaches us how a found family is sometimes the family you need.
Another fabulous book set in glorious Cornwall.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood for an arc of this book.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'A Found Family At The Cornish Country Hospital' by Jo Bartlett.

This is the third book I have read by this author. It is also the third book in Jo's 'The Cornish Country Hospital' series but can be read as a standalone. I have also read 'Welcome To The Cornish Country Hospital' (book 1 in this series) and 'Finding Friends At The Cornish Country Hospital' (book 2 in this series) which i would also highly recommend!

Yet again, another absolute stunner from the extremely talented Jo!! Well done Jo on an absolutely beautiful and perfect read!! This is the ideal page turner where you could sit there and turn around and just imagine everything coming to life around you.

This book is extremely well written with beautiful descriptions that completely drew me in. The synopsis and the cover match the storyline perfectly!!

I fell in love with the first book in this series 'Welcome To the Cornish Country Hospital' as well as the second book 'Finding Friends At The Cornish Country Hospital' and have been sooo looking forward to getting my hands on this when it came out and I was NOT disappointed!!. I was a bit dubious after loving the first and second books so much as I was wondering how on Earth Jo was going to make another book just as good. Well, there was absolutely nothing to worry about as she didn't just make a book just as amazing but one that was even more addictive especially as I had already met many of the characters previously and it was like meeting back up with old friends again!! This fantastic addition to this series has yet another storyline that completely swept me away. I absolutely adored the storyline and getting to know the lives of so many different people, seeing their relationships and friendships change and see how they react to secrets, heartache, changes, romance and everything else that goes on in this absolutely fantastic read!! I adore the fact that this amazing series is mainly based around a hospital as I have yet to read another series let alone another book (apart from this series) set in a hospital environment and I was just fascinated by the different situations going on. Well I will just say now, why are you still wasting your time reading my review?? Just grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine, get comfortable and get lost in this stunning storyline now!! I've not long got home from Cornwall and missed it before I read this book but OMG Jo has made me want to jump in the car and go straight back now!!! Jo's evocative writing skills ensures the readers are absolutely sucked into the stunning storyline with the atmosphere and characters coming to life all around them. I absolutely fell in love venturing back into Cornwall and Jo's vivid descriptions are absolutely perfect and evocative. I became so invested in this book that it actually felt like going on a holiday and I absolutely dreaded coming to the end where I had to unpack my suitcase and get back to reality. It was an absolutely compelling and addictive heart lifting read that kept me turning the pages until late at night. I loved discovering the pasts, secrets and histories of the characters and I was absolutely swept away in the story line. Everything and everyone came to life around me and I cannot wait to return in the next book in this absolutely stunning series. This book really was an emotional rollercoaster ride filled with friendship, family, drama, medicine, love, secrets, romance, heartache, emotions and everything you could ask for!!! The fact that Jo has done her research when it comes to the hospital environment completely shines through so a HUGE well done to Jo. It is a massive shame when authors don't do enough research into their chosen topics and/or environments and their books are then littered with unnecessary mistakes as it really can spoil a book that would otherwise be fantastic. This book is escapism at its best and is a perfect way to disappear into an amazing world for a while. It is one of those books that I just could not put down and drive everyone mad by walking around reading it every chance I got and ended up devouring it in one sitting!! This book would make an absolutely gorgeous movie which I would absolutely love to see!!

An absolutely gorgeous, page turning and addictive addition to a stunning series!! Don't even peek into this book until you've cleared your schedules as you won't be able to put it down!!

Although this is the third book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without reading the first two books. Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

I became completely invested in the characters in the first book and I absolutely loved meeting the majority of them again and getting to know different characters more. The characters are realistic, larger than life and I absolutely loved meeting old and new faces again. They all had their own unique individual personalities and quirks. Every one of the characters had a part to play and they were all completely unforgettable. My heart completely went out to Aidan, Jase and Isla and I had tears streaming down my face on a number of occasions as Jo ensures the reader feels everything that they do throughout. I just was rooting for their happiness, along with many other characters', from the moment I met them!!! I really enjoyed getting to know most of the characters, some from the start and others more, and when I came to the end I felt like I was leaving amazing people and new friends behind and felt quite sad about that but am happy in the knowledge that this book is just the third book in this absolutely stunning series and that the fourth book is already available to preorder on Amazon and will be released on the 3rd October 2024. It is called 'Lessons In Love At The Cornish Country Hospital' and I just cannot wait!! I just can't wait to get stuck into more of these gorgeous books. I loved watching how so many characters, relationships and personalities develop and change from the first page to the last. They all made me laugh, swoon, angry, cry, joyous and much more!!! Regardless of whether you love them or not all of these characters work perfectly together to make this a stunning page turner and I cannot wait to return to Cornwall to meet them all again!! Well done Jo on yet another absolutely stunning success!! I would also like to say a HUGE thank you in acknowledging and thanking me in your notes yet again, it means the absolute world to me and every word I have said about this book and the previous ones is 100000% true, genuinely one of the best and most stunning series' I have read!!!

Congratulations Jo on an yet another absolutely gorgeous success!!! I'm definitely looking forward to my next holiday to Cornwall and cannot wait for the next book in this series!!! This is the exact reason you are in my favourite author club and here is to your next success 🥂 !!!

Overall this is a gorgeous addition to an absolutely stunning series with an amazing gang of characters that will sweep you away to the gorgeous coast of Port Kara, Cornwall from the very first page to the end!

Another visit to old friends and this one tackles some difficult hard hitting issues - these are done so well and sensitively. I'm already looking forward to the next instalment.

Another great story by this author and third in the series so great to be back there. As always she deals with sensitive issues brilliantly and the book is full of warmth, great characters and a storyline to keep you turning the pages. Definitely recommended

In this touching story, Isla Marlowe seeks to honor her late father's memory by performing a selfless act of kindness. She offers to help Aidan Kennedy and his husband, Jase, start a family, fulfilling their dream despite societal opposition. However, when Isla confronts her own personal crisis, their plans are halted, leaving all three questioning their paths. In her darkest moments, Isla learns that true family can be found in the unwavering support of friends. This heartfelt tale explores unbreakable bonds that form through acts of generosity and love.

This is the third in the Cornish Country Hospital series. It works as a standalone, however I would advise reading the previous books, as this does reference characters and storylines from earlier - and of course, they are just great books!

Isla wants to honour her late father's memory, and decides donating her eggs to friends Aidan and Jase is the perfect way to do it. I don't want to say more as the story evolves and is highly emotional. The author has written the perfect story to illustrate that friends can also be your family, both heartwarming and tearjerking at the same time.

There are multiple difficult issues tackled, handled sensitively and well researched. My one slight problem with the book was with the ending - I wanted more, and it felt a bit abrupt. I now can't wait for book 4!

Bartlett's books are always a sheer delight to read and they never, ever disappoint.

Found Family is the third in the Cornish Country Hospital series and it was great catching up with some familiar faces again.

It's an emotionally charged read that comes with mentions of surrogacy and grief. Whilst they may be a trigger for some, they made the story realistic and relatable.

St Piran's is picturesque and perfect as always and my suitcase is already packed and ready to go back for book four!

A highly enjoyable, heart warming read that I wouldn't hesitate in recommending.

Oh my Jo Bartlett, you’ve done it again. What a beautiful and emotional read.
Isla’s story has broken me - I’m sat with tears streaming down my face as I’ve just finished reading this amazing book.
But even through the tears, this has given me such a feeling of warmth and hope.
Jo Bartlett writes these emotional and heartbreaking stories in such a sensitive manner - Isla’s story and her connection with Aidan and Jase is beautiful and so inspiring, and I felt we were part of their
journey from the very beginning.
The strong message here is that family doesn’t need to be blood relatives and that people around us will show the unconditional love we deserve if we’re prepared to let them in.

The third instalment in this series with one more to go and I can’t wait. This book focuses on Isla and Aidan and Jase although others from books one and two are also included. I don’t like giving too much away at this stage but today it’s another brilliant storyline and characters. Thanks to Jo and her publisher. Thanks also to NetGalley

As the third book in this series, "A Found Family at the Cornish Country Hospital" by Jo Bartlett is a much welcome return to St Pirans Hospital, full of familiar characters – each with their own story to tell. If you haven’t read the first two books, don’t worry, each can be read as a standalone book, but I do highly recommend them, in fact everything Jo has written is worth a read. If you enjoy a series, check out The Cornish Midwives!
This latest book is yet another emotional story, interweaving themes of heartache, tragedy, shock with themes of hope, desire, love and compassion.
Isla wants to mark her father’s memory by doing something extremely special, when the opportunity presents itself via Aidan and Jase, it seems everyone is about to get exactly what they want. Aidan and Jase want to start a family, but Aidan has concerns as he has a difficult relationship with his own family, he worries he will turn out to be just like his unsupportive and evasive Dad. Jase’ family couldn’t be more different; they accept everyone as family, no matter what – that is what inspires Aidan to go after what they truly want.
Isla’s gift to them means she is a welcome addition to their family now, and when surprising events cast a shadow over what should be an exciting time, everyone needs to evaluate their priorities and how they will move forward, supporting each other.
Jo Bartlett's storytelling draws you in, becoming emotionally invested in all the characters. My heart ached for them, reading these books never fails to tug at the heartstrings whilst still feeling hopeful that things will work out well . I am a huge fan of how Jo is never afraid to tackle serious, sensitive issues but does so carefully and alongside happy and positive moments.
I do feel like this series is going from strength to strength, this is a fantastic summer read and I look forward to the next

but its not an easy road for any of them when a diagnosis of leukaemia is discovered and its at times like these that family whether blood family or found family comes into its own

man this one will cause many a tear to fall

but its a good one

Be prepared for a moving story that lets readers experience an emotional journey through its believable and empathetic characters. Isla is grieving the loss of her father and wants to honour his memory positively. Aidan and Jase wish to complete their family with a child, and when Isla realises this, she offers them a selfless gift. This tale has many heartbreaking moments, but the characters grow from these positively, and reading them is an uplifting experience. I enjoyed the believable characters, their emotional connection and the uplifting ending.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Isla Marlowe wants to remember her late father's memory in a meaningful way and can think of no better people to help than her friends, Aidan and Jase, who are desperate to start a family. When Isla offers to help them achieve their dream it opens up a whole set of circumstances which Isla could never have imagined.

This is now the third book in the Cornish Country Hospital series and each story delivers a perfectly balanced plot combining both happy and serious moments alongside a story-line which also tugs away at the heartstrings. Never afraid to consider some difficult topics the story covers the emotional journey of IVF treatment alongside that of some serious health problems which require specialist treatment. All are covered with an authenticity for medical detail, along with the author's skilful knack of bringing place and people to life.

I like how the story flowed so beautifully, the author really does have such skill in making all her characters feel like friends so that even though this story focuses mainly on Isla and her journey with Aidan and Jase, it's also lovely to meet up with all those characters, at the hospital, who we have grown to love over the course of this lovely series. Beautifully, and emotionally written, A Found Family at the Cornish Country Hospital reminds us, quite forcibly, that sometimes the concept of family is not always the one we are born into and that sometimes friends are the family we choose to gather around ourselves.

Another great book by Jo continuing the Cornish Country Hospital series. The story centres around Isla and Aiden although previous characters from earlier books appear. This is an emotional story but I had to keep reading to find out what happened. Highly recommended.
