Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This was an interesting thriller that had me questioning both narrators and trying to figure out who was correct. There were so many secrets in this book that were slowly revealed to the reader and in a great way. I enjoyed the ending and how everything was wrapped up nicely.

Always enjoy a psychological thriller set in a moody place in this case Scotland.
The audiobook took me a minute to get into considering the accents and the pace of each character.
More psychological versus suspense. I went into this thing and there was going to be a murder mystery component. This is a novel of a character just expressing an abundance of paranoia without giving any reasoning as to what could be causing so. She came off a little insufferable, which I believe that is the intention.
The supporting character, obviously more logical, but with her boy craziness did tend to get a bit annoying.
While the ending seem to address all of the opening questions, it did seem a little bit forced.

A psychological suspense with a remote setting? Yes please! I love this trope so much. With plenty of twists and secrets revealed, this was an entertaining read for me.
WHAT TO EXPECT
-slowburn pacing
-remote cabin setting, with no cell service
-secrets and twists
I listened to the audio format, and love when books have multiple narrators.
*many thanks to Dreamscape and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review

Great book! Full of suspense and twists and turns. The narrator did well, great thrilling book! Narrator did really well. And brought the story to life.

I didn't really connect with this book- featuring two sisters in an off the grid cabin in Scotland. I loved the setting, and that's really why I requested the audiobook, but didn't love the narration and felt like the plot moved really slowly. I think I went into this thinking it would be a fast paced thriller, complete with quick chapters and heavy on the plot- and this book wasn't that. It was much more character focused than I was expecting. I think I may have enjoyed the reading experience better than the audiobook experience- it couldn't hold my attention in the car, which is where I listen to audiobooks the most.
Lovely book cover though, and I still really liked the setting.

The premise of this book had me intrigued. It kept me engaged for the first third of the book, and I started to lose interest in the book every now and then. Overall, I loved the mystery aspect of this story!

Psychological thriller that kept me on my toes! I couldn’t figure it out which made it all the better!

This book was not as full of suspense as I was expecting and honestly hoping for. The story wasn’t bad, but I found the “chapters” too long. I got frustrated when I was in Catherine’s perspective too long. I didn’t like the narrator’s portrayal of her (Anna was done well) and Catherine was a hard character to like. She was more and more paranoid and came off as crazy even though I knew there were secrets she was perceiving. Catherine and Anna are sisters who have never been close and are total opposites. Catherine’s husband suggests they take a vacation up to his family’s cabin in Scotland which is both extremely rustic (no electricity) and rural. Catherine is shocked and a little dismayed when Anna agrees and the two women make it the remote cabin. This book felt more like a family drama exploring motherhood both existing and lost and the emotions of each of the women. This book wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t quite as gripping as I was looking for. Definitely an interesting look at two women and their relationship and the secrets surrounding them both.

Elsewhere by Sarah Tierney - Up until the end, I was thoroughly bored. Nothing happened. I guess we were supposed to see the sister going mad, but it truly didn't seem that way at all. Was kind of just dropped on us, and we were expected to accept it and move along with the story. And the baby? What the heck kind of twist was that? This just felt very sloppy to me, and there were no true thriller elements, in my opinion.

Elsewhere is a psychological thriller with themes of family secrets, motherhood, and mental health. The dynamics between the two sisters was my favorite part of the book. It was a solid story, with a setting in a remote area of Scotland which led to a bit of the unreliable narrative for the one sister.

I enjoyed this book and read it quickly. It was well paced and entertaining. I will recommend it to library patrons.

Two sisters go on a trip to a little used family cottage. Anna has just returned from Canada and is living at home and it's not quite what she thought it would be. Catherine isn't close with her sister but thought the trip would help them bond. She is shocked that her sister has agreed to go.
Strange things start happening at the cottage and Catherine keeps disappearing. There is a woman working in town that Catherine feels is acting strangely toward her. A secret from Catherines past may be coming back to haunt her. Anna is worried about her sister but doesn't know what to do or who to turn to.
This was an interesting and creepy read. You don't really have a feeling of what is happening until things start coming to a head toward the end. This is more of a family mystery/drama. There are things that Catherine wants to speak to Anna about and others that she is hiding. Family secrets and characters that are all a bit of a mess permeate this book. Very character driven, it was a good read.

Elsewhere by Sarah Tierney was a wild, creepy ride - and I loved every second of it! Two estranged sisters decide to spend some time reconnecting at a remote cottage. Anna is a free spirit, while Catherine is married with a steady career.
Weird things start happening, including a young woman with a baby who keeps showing up, and hearing banging on the windows throughout the night. The reader keeps learning more about an incident that happened 20 years ago that the sisters simply do not speak of.
Expertly narrated by Lorna Bennett and Kat R0se-Martin, who evoked such emotion and had perfect timing.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC in audiobook format.
In Sarah Tierney’s haunting audiobook “Elsewhere,” estranged sisters Anna and Catherine reunite at a remote cottage during the all-night twilight of summer. Narrated by Lorna Bennett and Kat Rose-Martin, this psychological thriller unravels secrets, dislocation, and longing.
As odd occurrences escalate, the tension between the sisters intensifies. Who is the watchful girl with a baby? What secrets lie in the woods?
The sisters’ shared past, an incident from twenty years ago, resurfaces. Trauma, psychosis, and longing intersect.
Even without a child, motherhood casts a haunting presence.
🎧 Sarah Tierney’s elegant prose and the dual narration create an immersive experience. Prepare for twists that linger long after twilight fades.

Elsewhere by Sarah Tierney and narrated by Lorna Bennett; Kat Rose-Martin is a gripping psychological drama/ family drama that delves deep into the ramifications of secrets comiing back to haunt us when we least expect them to
The performances by Lorna Bennet and Kat Rose-Martin really enhanced an already strong novel that had my attention start to finish
Two sisters, like chalk and cheese, go on a holiday in a remote location to reconnect. However, there is a strange girl with a baby who is nice and friendly to one sister, but incredibly cold and disissinve to the other. The stay in the lodge is besmirched by disturbances in the night, polluted water supply and a litany of other issues. Stalking, Cyber Stalking and secrets kept over decades comes together powerfully in this intense, well crafted thriler
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, Saraj Tierney and the narrators for this incredibly compelling ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

Add together some psychological thriller and some family drama and you have me hooked. I loved this book. I want to read more by this author now.

Slow burn psychological drama about two sisters that have deep underlying problems and unresolved issues that decide to go on a vacation together in rural Scotland. What could possibly go wrong? Things-eerie and unexplained things- start to happen and the sisters handle them way differently.
You can feel the tension build as one sister spirals and you feel as if you are going down with her.
Tierney is fantastic at her descriptions, so much so that I felt I was in remote Scotland.
Narrated by Lorna Bennett and Kat Rose-Martin in such a beautiful way.
I’d listen to anything read by these two!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bloodhound Books/Dreamscape Media for an advanced audiobook copy of Elsewhere. This is my honest review.

Narrated by Lorna Bennett; Kat Rose-Martin this book told the story of two sisters Anna and Catherine who are quite different and estranged. On the prompting of her husband, they decide to vacation to an isolated cottage in Scotland together during the summer. But they seem to stumble upon mystery after mystery, some of which are easily resolved, and others not so much. As the two struggle to relate to each other, it becomes clear that buried trauma and hidden secrets don’t stay that way for long. The book is more of a psychological/family drama and is very character driven. This book is told from the POV of two sisters, which I loved. The author did a great job at showing how biased siblings’ opinions of each other can be and how easy it is to assume you know someone fully because you’re related to them, when that’s often far from reality. Getting to see the characters’ personal thoughts and how they looked from their siblings’ POV made this story strong. I found this to be engaging, and I also loved how the author chose to resolve everything.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this work.

Actual Rating 3.5
Don’t go into this book expecting a thriller, or even really a suspense. It’s more of a psychological/family drama that’s character driven.
This is a slow burn, with some suspicious things happening early on in the book but it taking quite a while before things begin to pick up. I found this to be refreshing, and I also loved how the author chose to resolve everything. There were no “shocking” or “gripping” twists that felt absurd, but instead things were resolved quietly and realistically in a way that was a breath of fresh air.
If you’re looking for a slower family drama focused on adult sisters and mental health, then you may enjoy this one. I listened to the audiobook version, and while one narrator was excellent, the second one didn’t work as well. My thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this work.
