This book wasn't terrible but it also is not what I was expecting. I thought it would be more o30es the narrator gave Anna a Catherine also made them sound like they were in their 70's when they were actually in their 30's so that kept throwing me off. Like I said it wasn't terrible book just slow and not as scary and eerie as the cover and description made it seem.

Two sisters, Anna and Catherine decide to get away. These two do not necessarily get along. They are just too different. This trip is to bring them back together and mend some fences. They end up at a remote cottage in the Scottish Highlands. But there is more going on in the psychosis of the mind than either expect.

Now, the reason for the 3 star rating on this one is that there are places where the story does not flow as well as it should. And it is a bit confusing. But! It is creepy as all get out! And I did enjoy it, especially the setting of Scotland. I could just picture the sea and Fort William. Oh! And the creepy house! I am all about a house in the middle of nowhere and yes…while traveling through Scotland…you will see that lone house…

I love a good tag team of narrators. And this team of Lorna Bennett and Kat Rose-Martin is pretty dad-blame good.

2.5 stars. Between the plot of the book and the cover, I was expecting a suspensful, eerie thriller. Unfortunately, this was really none of that and actually, it was kind of boring and predictable throughout. I did like the alternate points of view and that did progress the story somewhat. This wasn't bad, just not memorable. I did like the narrator. The voices of the characters came through as I imagined them to be.

Two sisters who aren’t really close due to many things from the past go on vacation together. That’s when Katherine’s past comes back to haunt her and her sister isn’t sure what to do or think as she has never seen her sister this way.

This book deals with mental health issues and how far it can go and how it can affect the family around them. As well as never knowing what to believe on both sides and how important getting a good diagnosis and treatment plan are.

Thank you Netgalley for the advance audiobook copy of Elsewhere by Sarah Tierney in exchange for an honest review. This was a very interesting book and kept the reader on their toes. It explores many complicated subjects like how a woman might deal with giving away her baby at the age of 15. It also delves into the relationship families have and how each person handles a situation. I really enjoyed reading this and thought Sarah Tierney did a wonderful job writing it.

There wasn't much to this story. I was expecting some kind of mystery or thrill to it but that was none. It was just two sisters hanging out at a cabin.

This would be a good womens contemporary read. I honestly just think I was expecting something different.

The narration was slow and boring.

Two adult sisters retreating to a cottage in Scotland...and mysteries ensue? I'm in. This tale was definitely a slowburn. I definitely could listen to Lorna Bennett and Kat Rose-Martin read the phone book. The Scottish accents were delightful and helped propel the storyline along. The twists and turns were not as twisty and turny as the blurb might have indicated, but it was interesting to see why things were actually happening in the end.

This audiobook seemed really promising, but unfortunately, it didn’t deliver for me. The book felt long & drawn out, and the characters were unlikeable. It would’ve been a DNF, but since I was reviewing, I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any key element. I had pretty much predicted the ending, except for one minor twist. The majority of the book was the growing psychosis of one sister, which many people would probably miss until the end. It was listed as a thriller, but was more of a very slow burn mystery.

Pretty thin in the suspense department. I was expecting a dead body at some stage though so that's probably on me and my misguided expectations.

The story here follows estranged sisters Catherine and Anna as they come together for a couple weeks at a cabin off the grid. No wi-fi, no electricity, just each other and a bunch of strange happenings. Hmm.

So things get a little creepy for the sisters when someone trashes their outside area early on, and then suddenly their water runs brown. A local explains it's just peat in the water and that this is a regular occurrence after rain, but Catherine is convinced it's something more sinister.

Basically, this book is a lot of Catherine being convinced someone is out to get her with not really much reason.

I found her chapters almost unbearable. She comes across as paranoid and a little crazy, rather than the story seeming eerie and thrilling. Her chapters were slow and frustratingly deluded. I didn't like her at all and I found myself eager to get back to Anna.

Anna was much more fun, and her chapters injected a little more cheer. She seemed a little more logical, and more likely to think things through. She was able to think of solutions, but she was also very boy-focused which does get a little tiring after a while.

Ultimately, I just didn't really like the characters, and there wasn't enough happening for this to feel like a thriller to me. There was an interesting twist but it didn't seem to fit the story at all - it seemed more like the story was built around the twist and, as a consequence, there wasn't a lot of substance.

Narration was kind of awful - Catherine's chapters were morose and slow, hard to understand at times and there wasn't a lot of character coming through her voice. Anna's narrator was a little better, but there still seemed to be times where the emotions didn't seem to match the words.

I thought this would be an eerie murder mystery but it's really just two lonely girls hanging out in an isolated cabin for a little bit. There just wasn't much here for me to get into.

I was very intrigued by the premise of this story, two sisters at odds with one another stay in a remote cottage to reconnect. Que strange things happening, sinister townspeople, possibly unreliable narrator, and mother-daughter trauma and you have a recipe for a girl's trip gone wrong.

Sadly this didn't hold my interest the way I had hoped, one of the narrators had a very strong (Scottish?) accent and I found it hard to stay tuned into her parts of the book, just not something I'm used to.

Elsewhere is a family mystery about two sisters who haven't spoken in many years who come together at their old home. There is tension between them and as they notice a young woman with a baby watching them, the tension escalates further.

I found one of the multiple perspectives much more engaging than the rest, and the drama was predictable but engaging. I took issue with the multiple references to Harry Potter in this the year 2024. Do better! It is unnecessary and shows that you are not supportive of trans and queer people.

Overall this was a middle of the road mystery for me brought down by the HP references.

this is a slow burning thriller surrounding the relationship of 2 sisters, Catherine and Anna. The premise of the book sounded really intriguing and normally I love a slow burn. I did, However find the beginning a little too slow for me and the ending a bit rushed. So I felt the cadence of the book itself hard to get into. It did however have a little bit of everything so I kept listening.

Lorna Bennett and Kat Rose-Martin did a good job portraying the two POV of Catherine and Anna, however I did find the gruff whispering voice didn't suit the character set up for Catherine a little off putting.

This book was hard for me to get through. I thought it was slow and the story was underdeveloped.

The question in the book is, "Is Catherine having some kind of psychotic break or delusions, or are all the secrets and odd behaviors around town indicative of a conspiracy or malevolence directed at her?" Kind of one of those situations that screams just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you. So is it Catherine's failing mental health or gaslighting? And since she's one of two narrators in the book, is the story we're getting reliable? Oh how easily we disregard women's complaints, particularly if they have any kind of mental illness diagnosis.

I went back and forth, liking Anna more and more throughout, and the end reveal was not just believable, but a twist I never saw coming. Kudos.

Rating: 3.5 stars!

This took psychological thriller to a whole new level. I was questioning if I had read something correctly, which character I stood behind, and who was really the bad guy in the whole mess. The beginning felt slow and the ending felt rushed, but overall a really solid listen!

This book had a little bit of everything, suspense, deception, sneaky people, romance, sibling support and more without spoiling it. I did not have this one figured out until the very end which I like. This book also painted some beautiful landscapes in my mind to visualize. The lead character was hard to like at first but after finding more it about her, I did sympathize and start to understand her more. I like that in a book, so detailed that I actually like or dislike the characters. Definitely a nice read and will recommend this book to friends! Thank you NetGalley for the arc!

This book was slow-going for me. The setting and story setup was interesting but just didn't move along enough. Although I enjoyed the accents, the narrators weren't my favorite. I may have enjoyed reading the book a little more. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC.

This was a miss for me. I thought the premise sounded interesting and loved the cover and setting. It was a little too slow moving and I don’t feel like anything actually happened. I also found the chapters to be much longer than I usually like. I liked the alternating POVs and thought the narrators did a nice job of bringing the characters to life.

A #NetGalley ARC Audiobook.

Two sisters, Anna and Catherine, take a trip together to a remote cottage in Scotland. Through their time together, they learn new things about their past and their present.

There are two audiobook narrators. Whomever did the voice of Catherine was intolerable to me. It sounded like she was gruffly whispering throughout the book and that each sentence ended in a question mark. The other narrator was fine.

The story was uneventful and mostly predictable. The repetition of "abortion is murder" was horrendously off-putting for me. The author also had inaccuracies in psychological diagnoses and symptomology. Perhaps she should stick with whatever other day job she has.
